Can someone explain to me (who knows nothing about Baseball), why do some of the players like Turner and Muncy look quite beefy and slow at running in a sport where you probably want explosive speed? Are they much faster than they appear? Or are they mainly there to drive the ball far for their team with their physical strength (and eagle-eyes)? They seemed hit several homeruns, which allowed them and their teammates to just jog around the field.
I’m assuming you mean Justin Turner, who definitely isn’t as fast. JT is a hitting and fielding specialist, he plays third base and third base isn’t a position that requires a lot of speed. Muncy is similar, playing first or second base usually, you don’t have to be as fast to play those positions
Been watching a lot of MLB on ESPN videos from the 2000s this offseason and compared to this, current day, it's amazing how much better everything about it used to be. The excitement, pregame stuff, in-game broadcasters/and commentary itself, music, graphic layouts you name it really. I still watch but I wish it was what it used to be.

Hi. I'm just trying to learn how the baseball works. I think I'm doing quite well, but i can't figure out the 2:06:13 moment, when the LAD batter clearly hits the ball and he doesn't run for the 1st base. Moreover no ball or strike are counted. Can somebody explain to me what's going on there?

I thought that if a batter got cleanly tagged out like that, any runners dont count after (so if a batters hit gets caught, a runner who ran from 1st base to 2nd- doesnt count and he has tocwalk back to 1st) But on this hit, catch and out, the player on 3rd was able to run to home plate. Does the above rule not apply to a run from 3rd to home? Thanks!

I'm not opposed to having 3 buddies that take turns pitching, catching, hitting and fielding, though. I offer shirts with my infantry crossed rifles on them in exchange. I wear baseball jerseys. You wear infantry crossed rifles.

A foul ball is counted as a strike until there are 2 strikes, after that any foul ball is just not recorded. He knew he fouled so he didn't run.
