Y'all they let us dance around in inflatable trash bags on the internet! My 2019 is complete!
Can you guys do a TLC & Busta Rhymes Vid
We’re on our way to greatness
It's my window, I can't minimize. ( ˘ ³˘)♥
Thank you for this 👏🏾
Y'all ladies are great. The trash bag made me subscribe.
I legit want to write a master's thesis on Missy and her artistic vision. She was and is so ahead of her time.
amystubby I feel this in my spirit. I’m a business communications masters student, you think I can justify using missy as a example of effective multigenerational communication through multimedia and social networking?
@@jerrecrenshaw5678 Yes! Do it!
Great I would buy🤔♥️
@amystubby Please do.
She got her style from kool Keith,he was doing it first.
"Same Species. Different Colour Palette."
Spot on. There is one race - the human race. Racism is a thing, but it's based on race, which scientifically speaking, isn't actually a thing. Maybe when humanity is fighting to the death against a superior alien race one day, we'll finally realise that we have more that unites us than divides us, but it will be too late by then..... 😕
Someone get this video to Missy ASAP! She needs to see how amazingly dope this video honoring her genius is. 🙌🏿
YESSS
"We don't have copyright coin." Hilarious!!! 😂😂😂😂💕💕
I literally wrote my senior thesis on this. Missy made afrofuturism mainstream
Please post the link.
Kool Keith did.
Is there anyway I can read it? Sounds awesome!
and Janelle Monae continued to carry it
Is there a link to it?
BLACK youtube glowed up in 2019. Love yall. Stay hydrated, well rested, and take care ya mental. This game is crazy.

BLACK
In an age where everyone is forgotten except the likes of Tupac, Biggie, Ice Cube, and LL-Cool J, etc... (2 had to die and the others had to become movie stars) I'm glad that you are doing something like this. We should remember our positive black entertainers without them having to be in the news or die. Missy, Timberland, Aaliyah, Ginuwine, that whole clique influenced millions of us in a positive way as pre-teens and teens. From the way we talk to our style of dress, even our choices of who we consider attractive... They DON'T get enough credit for all they've done for the community.
TUPAC and Biggie were not positive unfortunately. Great iconic, legendary Hip Hop Artist but not positive.
@@sandra-jones True but they will ALWAYS be talked about in the black American community because of their deaths while positive people will be for gotten if they don't go Hollywood or are involved in a scandal
@@333angeleyes we can work to change that narrative. this video is a good start.
Yes, The SupaFriends!!!! The whole clique was cold!!
@@sandra-jones well Tupac was more of a "do as i say not as i do". In the beginning he was a good influence for the kids who grew up with nothing and felt like all they had was what they were raised in. But unfortunately he got too involved in gangs and it ultimately lead to his demise. But i wouldn't go as far to say that nothing he ever said or did was beneficial. If people think that then they probably didn't listen much. As for Biggie i dont really remember him ever talking about bigger societal problems so...yeah he didn't do much for people lol
She had us all singing backwards on Work It, you love to see it

I was NOT ready for the supa dupa fly homage!! 🤣😂 I LOVE y'all!!! The witty humor + dope knowledge & wisdom = my kind of gals! 😍✊🏽👑❤
Who keeps giving Evelyn wigs?????
Cuz they need a raise 🤗
She brings her own. There's nothing any of us can do. -Hallease
Everything about you two is perfection - the analysis, the humour, the reenactments, the research and the commentary. Absolutely criminal that you don't have a subscriber count in the millions tbh.
They def deserve more subscribers! I vow to share these vids until they get them! ...also it's cool that this episode is brand new as of today and it has thousands of likes with zero hate! I hope the trolls continue to stay away. But for real how could anyone hate on this content!?
Totally agree, but perhaps numbers in the turned on tuned in thousands are better than messy millions diluting and polluting.
The beautiful skin👏
I’m convinced she’s a clone. She’s aging backwards too.
Nmendenh 2017 she is! She’s absolutely beautiful
Right
She’s a alien 👽 musical talented alien
@@Sketchnificent I want her to take me to her lead then!
Jessica Davis I been asking Missy that on Instagram for the past year now lol I’m still waiting on her to respond.
A great afro futurism book is An Unkindness Of Ghosts by River Solomon
Thanks for the suggestion im just now getting into reading afrofuturism books. So far ive only read books by Nneedi Okorafor
Thanks for the suggestion 🙏🏾
Thank you so much for recommending this book! Devoured it within a weekend, it was so good!!
I grew up on Missy and Timbaland and Magoo, Aaliyah, Ginuwine, ALL of them!!! Thank you for this y'all ❤️ 757
Yall looked like inflatable satin bonnets😭 another great one as always!
Terrence McGinnis “Y’all look like bonnets” is the greatest, blackest thing I’ve heard today 😂😂. Love to see it
Love Missy!! Her feature on Lizzo's song is fire
And shout out to my internet cousin 💜💜💜
she levitated in that video too!

"Poweful Black women don't need praise because they admire themselves." Can someone please put that on a shirt, backpack, pin, sticker, and poster?!?! I'll take 20 of each.
Make it yourself business woman!!
I'll take another 20 as well thanks.
I'm always here for a Missy Elliott appreciation video! 😍😍 Great job as usual ladies 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Also...Evelyn in the thumbnail 😂😂🤣🤣
Btw, that’s not Evelyn in the thumbnail, its Hallease xD
@@KKFilms-pq4xi It is now. When they first posted the video, Evelyn was the thumbnail.
God the memories. I hated dial up and don't let no one call you while you're surfing the web, disconnected LOL!
That's why my mom and dad got a second phone line lol.
The big question is.....why did the world begin sleeping on Missy?
Erykah, Missy, Janelle....can we do something please?
The world didnt start sleeping on her, she actually stopped dropping stuff due to her health issues for awhile
Fr! And I also think janelle's carrying on the torch and Tierra Whack too
Afrofuturism is legit one of my favorite African/African American Lit Sub-genre as well as fashion/aesthetic and music genre. Janelle Monae's ArchAndroid/Dirty Computer musical story telling (see her albums in chronological order to put story together), Missy's videos, Timbaland's music composition, Black Panther (comics), Static Shock, and many others are such amazing examples of afrofuturism.
Wow! I never saw Missy that way! And the whole concept of Afrofuturism is so powerful. I automatically thought about Black Panther, Janelle Monae and Tessa Thompson. I just did not know there was a specific word for that! Thanks for educating me👍
Kool Keith was the first to do it in hiphop
@@sadetwizelve I know Google is a thing, but I have a feeling you'll want to educate me - who is Kool Keith? Seriously. This is the 3rd comment I've seen you spam saying that Kool Keith did what Missy was doing before Missy. The earliest video referenced in this show was from 1997 - that was 22 years ago, man! Some people watching this may have not been born back then, yet alone know hip hop history like that.
@@DrT0705 Kool Keith is a Bronx emcee from a group called the Ultramagnetic MCs. They came out in the mid-late '80s. I might take it back a little further to somebody like Rammellzee, or Afrika Bambaataa himself (with the Soul Sonic Force), who helped start this whole Hip-Hop thing. So there have been elements of Afro-futurism in Hip-Hop from the beginning.
@@oRuTRa45 thank you very much for your polite and educational comment. I can now go to Spotify with some names and do my research (hopefully I won't be the only person to read this who does that). If only everyone online was as civilised in their responses. Peace out 🙏🏾🖤
@@DrT0705 Ain't it a little sad when you have to thank people for civility? You would think it should be the norm. (Don't get it twisted it, I get my occasional troll in, but only for people who deserve it.)
Yass! She helped shape my childhood and influenced my rap
Liking this video 1 minute in because imma need this channel to thrive and stay alive. Yass
Me TOO!! I was Sub'd up 20 seconds in HAHAAAAA!! YASSSS
Commenting before watching; the hill I’ve chosen to die on is Missy Elliott’s STUNNING discography, visuals, and production. She was, is, and always will be a PHENOMENAL creator whose talented is severely under appreciated.
Yep..... Next up Missy Elliot videos on blast for the next few hours.... Thanks for mind controlling me, guys XD
You already know! I'm about to start my Missy Elliott video playlist😀
Missy is def super underrated. I'm so happy you guys chose to shine the light on her. My fav song and video by Missy hands down is "I can't Stand The Rain"... I would literally wait all day until BET played this video as a kiddo growing up in the 90s. Some good times and even better memories! Thanks for the nostalgia!
But also originally done by Tina Turner whom I love too
"She's a B*tch" is my favorite Missy Elliott video. Missy's creativity inspires others.
THIS APPRECIATION VIDEO IS AWESOME!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁. I have always loved Missy and she will remain a staple on my playlist. Thank you ladies for this!!!!
Wow- I never looked this deep...
This episode reminds me of a cleaned up episode of Issa Rae's rachet piece theater. Something I can watch without shame of being caught. Haha
Rip Ratchet Piece Theatre
The things that this show does for our culture is truly amazing. Like there are rarely things that have shown how great we are and highlight our accomplishments. Thank you so much for dedicating the time to bring us this beautiful piece of work.
AND IF MTV DOESNT GIVE MISSY HER JUST DUE WITH A VIDEO VANGUARD AWARD THEYRE 🗣HATERS
Missy is the GOAT. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. ☺️
So happy to see you two together on a series again!! This was a collab I almost forgot I needed!!🙆🏾♀️🙆🏾♀️
Bruh, I really!!! Appreciate this!! This is so important! Missy as done SO MUCH for the community and constantly gets left out of the conversation!!! Thank you so much for this video
This video talking about black nerds is perfect especially since Megan the stallion broke the internet by showing her love for anime by cosplaying a character
GIVE MISSY HER THINGS!
Wonderful video ladies.
I would love to hear more about Octavia Butler! I don't know what else to say. Please do a video about her!
The recognition Missy deserves 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️ LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!
Going to assign this to my class. Great example for students of how to do media analysis that makes an argument supported through close analysis, knowledge of genre, cites others' work as means to enter into and extend scholarly and public conversations not only on the specific media object (the videos) but larger issues of importance (Afrofuturism, self-representation, resistance against white erasure, etc). Thank you both! As for favorite Missy Elliot video? Whew too many to choose just one. Curious how much students will be familiar with her work.
So much KNOWLEDGE in the videos y’all give. THANK YOU 🙏🏾✊🏾
CZcams algorithm finally recommends an awesome channel. Liked, subscribed and belled.
I love this channel!
My fave vid is ‘The Rain’. It kicked off my love for her and her music
If I could put a gif in this comment, it would be that dark skinned girl on ANTM crying and pumping her fist. The perfect "cries in diaspora" gif.
Please never stop this series!
Not G-mai LOL
Can't pick a fav, because I love 'em all, but the first Missy video I ever watched was "Supa Dupa Fly"
"Beep, Beep, who got the keys to the Jeep?" I'll always remember!
Absolutely heart this channel!!
Omg. I love this channel. They inform while making me lol all at the same time.
I thoroughly enjoy the content on this channel. Missy is an amazing talent and gift to our communities. So proud to have grown up in her era of music, and having known her song stylings when she was in her girl group! SatItLoud for MVP
Fave Missy video is 100% "Hit 'Em wit da Hee! Mythic, yet austere Afro-Elizabethan cosplay meets 1920's film Noire. Full SLAY!
Who scripts this? They need a raise!
I assume it is those smart young ladies on the screen. Why would someone else have to write anything for them?
We have a researcher for the show, then Hallease drafts an outline for approval that Evelyn uses to write the script.
@@AlexiHolford Because this is television, and the people on screen don't always do all the writing.
I Love Missy Elliott, she deserves the respect and appreciation!! 👏🏾💫 I love everything about this video!
3:58 can we just take a moment to appreciate how fine Billy Dee Williams was!
This video is outstanding. For years I have been watching Missy Elliot in amazement but I could never really gather the words to explain what I was experiencing. This video did it and all I can say is, yep.
Beautifully done my internet cousins.
Really nice concepts in this video. Keep up the good work. My favorite Missy Elliott video is Get Ur Freak On because I was hooked on her music ever since. It's one if my all-time favorite songs period.
That we don’t have copy right coins took me out 😂
IM TOO EARLY!! WHERE ARE THE COMMENTS TO MAKE ME LAUGH EVEN MORE LOL I Love yall!! Keep up the good work!! Did I mention I loved yall lol ❤️ and MISSY is the all-time GOAT! Give her all the awards in the universe!!!
I could not click on this fast enough!!! Missy Misdemeanor fan4life!!
This has become one of my favorite series! Always something to learn or reflect on! 🌠
The content is always interesting and entertaining. I got turned on to y'all when I was thinking about baby names and the episode on "Black-sounding" Names and Their Surprising History caught my eye so I had to check it out! I shared it with my family and coworkers, so hopefully they watched it and got turned on to this series, too!
"Pretend it's supa dupa fly" SENT ME
The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)
Why?!
Because it's one of the dopest video's of the 90's...Let me explain:
#1 She's killing it in a trash bag.
#2 The Cameo's (SWV, 702, Yo-yo, Total, Lil Kim, Puffy, Da Bray and Lil Cease). I think it shows a time when the music industry was just chill and everyone was good with one another regardless of what label they were signed to.
#3 This song introduced me into wanting to know more about samples because of Timbaland's use of I can't stand the rain by Ann Peebles.
Beep Me 911 is my favorite video of hers.
With 702 and Magoo Magoo lol
Very informative videos, thanks
that trekkie bit was just too cute, thumbs up from me XD
Pretend this is supa dupa fly😂😂😂 we don't have copyright coins...HILARIOUS
Y’all are soooo CUTE!!! 🥰 All the feels! Thanks for making my morning commute bearable!!!!🤗🤗
Kudos on the topic. Missy is dope!! I don’t have a favorite video but I tried to learn all the moves in a couple of her videos w my play cousins. 💕
Ok, you've convinced me... Missy Elliott is a time traveler from the future. XD
Seriously, awesome video. I see my future includes rewatching Missy Elliott videos now.
I had no idea she was from Portsmouth! So am I!! Tidewater proud, y'all.

Great channel!!! I found it accidentally, but now one of my favorites. Greetings from Mexico
Was looking forward to Missy’s remake video. So far, you have about 5 sec. clip. - loved it! Awesome video. Keep up the good work
You guys stay coming with the vital unpacking of culture and self discovery. So well thought out and presented as such always. Blessings to you both 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Thank you for creating & sharing this!
Just discovered you ladies and love learning from you. Love this video about Missy! Thank you x
You are great together as hosts. :) looking forward to next videos
I 💖this trip down memory lane into the future. The summer Supa Dupa Fly dropped, I was turning 36. I bought the cd, and cassette tape. On a long drive to to take my kids, then 15 and 12, down south, I wore them out and they learned the songs front to back. My young black nerds had risen to the next level! You ladies just gave me life with this millennial recap. Keep up the good work, this granny is subscribed to take the ride. Peace & Conscious Intuition, Queen AnkhEarth ☕️♍️
Thanks for suggesting 'Children of Blood and Bone', seems right up my alley. Excited about it. 🙌🏾
Omg I just found y’all and your voices are so????? Soothing????????

I LOVE THESE VIDEOS!!! Very inspirational, fun and FUNNY ! Thanks guys ❤️✨✊🏾
Yooo, I’m going down a rabbit hole myself. Thank you for this video! 💗💗 the idea of afrofuturistic sounds and style is something that I had when I was younger, but now can I appreciate I can’t wait to experience all of it.
I freaking love this channel!
Another awesome video! Idk if anyone's ever told you Heallease, but you look a lot like Ngzoi Paul from Da Kink in My Hair! I had to Google to make sure you weren't her going under a new name 😂
Omg I’m so happy. I love y’alls energies together this in my favorite duo
as actors, you guys are too underrated. I love your delivery in the mini skits
Thank you for making such bad ass content that is informational, relevant and still cool af! Such important topics no one talks about. The masses have to be educated!!!! Thanks ladies 🥰
