      @@Shadowleecher There was a lot of hype with Lewis Hamilton in the British media, and he still did exceedingly well in his first few years (and thereafter), and there was also a lot of hype for Max Verstappen, since he was the youngest ever and had an entertaining racing style. I don't think hype kills talents. Some drivers who were hyped up were just very unlucky, not poor drivers, like Kubica, who only had half a season with a championship capable car, or Leclerc, who has shown that he can go toe to toe with Max but him and the team just make too many errors, likewise with JPM. I'm sure AKA will be a very good driver, make it to Formula One and will put on entertaining performances from time to time, but whether he wins a championship will be down to what career choices.

      @Shadowleecher Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@potatogirlcultist19 Just because some hyped drivers succeeded doesn't justify labeling every young talent. Comparing Antonelli to established stars ignores the individual journey. Hype adds pressure; not everyone copes. Mentioning unlucky cases doesn't dismiss the potential harm of premature labels. Hype doesn't guarantee success; it risks hindering a young driver's development. Look at Mick Schumacher.

    I think what makes his jump to Prema in F2 even more exciting is that he is almost certainly going to be teammates with Ollie Bearman, and having arguably the two biggest talents in the feeder series in the same team (and a top team at that) is hopefully going to give us an insane season! And now it looks like the one Italian generational talent ended up in the hands of Toto of all people. And with Toto looking after him, Mercedes' resources and potential mentors such as Lewis, Bono and crew, I don't see Andrea leaving the Mercedes ecosystem anytime soon.

    "The last Italian world champion was Alberto Ascari in 1953." What a fact!!! I've looked it up, and the only World Champions who came close to being Italian were Niki Lauda, born to an Italian mother in Vienna, Austria, but never held Italian nationality, and Mario Andretti, born in Motovun, Croatia (which was part of Italy at the time of his birth in 1940), who was granted Italian citizenship in 2019. I truly hope Antonelli will become world champion one day! Italy deserves it! The challenge lies in the pressure he will face at home when things get tough! "Nemo propheta acceptus est in sua patria". 🇨🇦🇮🇹❤

    I just hope him jumping the ladder doesn't bite back. Yeah, it can work (as Verstappen showed), but it can also be seriously detrimental if the jump doesn't work. It's quite prevalent in NASCAR especially, with young drivers getting rushed from the XFINITY series (basically NASCAR F2) into Cup as there's no restrictions, only for Cup to not pan out and their careers effectively stall out because 'you're only as good as your last race'.

    I wish people wouldn’t put pressure like this on kids. Calling him the next max is already setting a standard of how great he should be. It’s a standard that is not easily met and the chances of him not living up to it are way more likely. When he doesn’t live up to the hype he will be looked at like he failed in something when in reality what he accomplished would still be impressive in comparison to a normal person.

      There have always been hopefuls who've smashed it in the lowers tiers and haven't quite cut it in F1 too.
