  • I've been wanting a solid offroad vehicle ever since getting my lifted van stuck in the mud last year, and when I saw this lifted 2004 Porsche Cayenne S on Facebook Market place with 150k miles on it I offered the guy a trade...... and a few hours later I was one old(er) Porsche richer. So how has this german car fared after 150k miles... and what is (surprisingly) still working? Let's take a look. Also, I have plans for this car along with some of the other non-firearms-related projects I am into (airplanes and whiskey) so subscribe to this channel for that content AND head over to DEFCON Creative for gun-related stuff.

I own the 955 S with the advanced off road technology pack. Rear, centre, diff lock with detachable sway bars. The car has around 70k miles on it and is in pristine condition for its age and possibly the last right hand drive specked this high in existence. I have already started my build and I cannot be happier with how this weapon performs off road

It’s like any other car that unlocks with the fob if the door is not opened after a few seconds it automatically locks again, so your problem with it locking automatically is with the door try sorting that out and then it won’t lock after unlocking it will the fob. Hope that helps.

Thinking about getting one of these. I last drove one in 2016 , rental 6 cylinder when I was on vacation. I have a 4 wheel drive tundra and a 84 Chevy 4x4. Used 4×4 out of necessity on family ranch.

I was looking into getting one of these cayenne S' and i was wondering, could you put the turbo on a 4.5 from the S model?

I’m sure it’s possible but at that point I’d wanna do an LS swap or something

Starting in second gear is normal. nothing to worry about. just a comfort thing.

@@therealnickmorrow im currently driving a 2020 GLC 400D and that always starts in first gear. Trust me it’s just annoying. Especially on a diesel. Way too much torque for starting.

The shimmy might be the drive shaft support starting to fail.. The rubber support boot fails every 50-60k miles on EVERY Cayenne. Look up “the Jimmy fix” if you want to repair it yourself for $12 with 5/8 inch coolant hose and zip ties. I just did mine two weeks ago.

@@therealnickmorrow yes. You will know when it goes. It’s like a gremlin rhythmically hitting the transmission tunnel with a hammer. It’s important that every cayenne owner know about it. The person that sold me my 06 turbo S did it at 64,000 miles and sold it at 67,000 to me. He did The recommended fix from Porsche which is an entirely new driveshaft at $1600 plus half a days labor. Utter madness. It went out on me at 117,000. All these years later and they still haven’t made a factory fix that’s a reasonable cost and every single vehicle fails in the same way. They don’t care. Anyway, the “Jimmy fix” has become famous amongst Cayenne owners for good reason. The name comes from a guy’s mechanic that posts a lot on Rennlist. He’s some sort of genius apparently. Lol!
