    • @Arvoyea
      @Arvoyea Před 2 lety +13

it was named Vita TV at the start, but with the Vita's negative reception (because of Sony's proprietary memory cards and how in general they let it go unsupported after that) they changed it to Playstation TV despite it still obviously being the Vita TV. they seemed to hope the name change would've made better sales

    • @alinepiroutek8932

What I hate: they took out the TV Out feature from Vita to sell the feature separately because "everyone loves Playstation and will buy this" just like the expensive memory cards.
Reality: no one wanted Vita so even less people wanted the expensive memory cards and Vita TV.
They downgraded the product on purpose.

Makes you wonder why Sony simply didn't just include (or at least seperately sell) a controller that had all the PS Vita's touch pad/gyro/camera features.

Really nice video! With the vita being SUPER easy to mod, I'm glad more people are talking about it!
I'd like to also mention two other *must have* vita/ps tv plugins:
*VitaGrafix* - Increase the resolution (and sometime framerate) of select vita games, this can make them look/run better on your TV!
    *
PSVshell* - Change your CPU/GPU speed, This allows you to disable the slower speed that the Vita/PsTv used to save battery power, this can help your games run faster and smoother.
The last thing to mention would be the various plugin that allow you to store your games/saves on a SD card or USB drive, you could get well over 100GB for less than the price of a 32GB vita memory card!

The Vita 1000 or fat and the TV are both susceptible to GPU crashes. Once you hack it it's only a matter of time and when you keep experiencing random GPU crash most likely you'll remove the hack well it won't totally remove it. You will randomly experience weird artifactings in the livearea like bubbles and wallpapers have this weird triangle shapes and.
I think there are certain factory batches of affected units so you might get luckly. Still I'd advice not paying much if you can find a good deal get it otherwise just skip and get a PS4 pro then hack it. You might not be able to play exclusive Vita games but it's less of the hassle.

Playstation all stars IS a touch screen game. You need to tap the touch screen to grab/drop items

did you get one? and yea it's really good and you should get psvita to ds card adaptor to store your hacked games into the sd card instead of the sony one.

I had two PSTVs, the worst motion smear of any TV I’ve used, it was horrific, given it was a VA screen with horrendous image response times.

I remember thinking about impulse buying this and the Steam Controller when they were on fire sales but I didn't have the money at the time, sucks to miss that opportunity. I've been thinking of buying a used Vita for the few Vita and BC PSP games I never got to play. THen I hear about a Switch project to recompile Vita code natively to run on Switch since they're both ARM CPUs and it makes me wonder if a couple years down the line the Vita will be redundant.

Only issue I have with my hacked PSTV is that it doesn't play PS1 games well. Adrenaline has some kind of frame skip issue with PS1 games on a PSTV, but seems to work fine on a regular handheld Vita. Like, the intro for Suikoden when you're walking around the castle has awful, choppy scrolling, or flickering sprites or screen tearing depending on the setting. I even tried changing the output to 480P for PS1 games, but I have never been able to get them to run properly on PSTV.

The blacklisting was really terrible. In the end, we ended up with a game consile that refused to play games, while being named “TV”, but having no TV functions and streaming services outside the US.

Thanks for sharing all this info! The PS TV definitely is very flawed when they launched it, and the community has stepped up to improve what Sony made wrong.

I have a PS TV but it has one huge problem, the PS4 Gamepads have a huge input delay which means I have to use a Ps3 Controller which means I have even more gamepads lying around..

Not gonna lie the only reason i bought my pstv is because it was on sale at walmart and it came with a ps3 controller-- which came out to be cheaper than just buying a ps3 controller by itself. it also guaranteed that it was an authentic sony controller as this was around the time when the knock off chinese ps3 controllers started flooding the market.

Yeah I played Uncharted Golden Abyss to completion on PSTV. There are other things you can do, like Overclocking and using Vitagrafix to slightly enhance the resolution.

Had one of these in 2020, but I sold it because I never owned a memory card and wasn't into modding yet so I didn't know about sd2vita or anything like that, I just bought a normal vita though today so I hope to mod it and play all the games I missed out on once it arrives in the mail.
