DRAPER infrared thermometer 15101

- Welcome back to my workshop 😁.
As part of an ongoing project I needed an infrared thermometer.
I managed to get one of these @DrapertoolsLtd units (the 15101) from @toolstationltd which they had in stock.
It looks like it will do exactly what I need 😁.
I quickly show you lovely people how to use it / how accurate it is and how responsive it is to temperature changes.
Overall a great tool for the price.

I have used, and been around these guns for years in industry, measuring interior and exterior rotary kiln temperatures, and in testing electrical components and connections. Your demonstration of the accuracy at various distances was excellent. Entertaining and informative.👍
😁 This is the first time I've had one of my own so I'm sure it will get quite a bit of use. I've used a thermal imaging camera in my day job to diagnose high current issues in full vehicle harnesses but I don't think I can quite afford one of them for my workshop 😆😆.... you never know....one day😆. Great review and happy new year Frank. Be careful, I borrowed one to check the temperatures of motorbike exhaust pipes (finding a faulty spark plug) but ended up spending hours testing the temperature of everything, EVERYTHING! Look forward to the reveal.

That is a good range of temperature. If you have a pizza oven, a lot of other similar looking infrared thermometers don’t have the range to tune in an oven. Mine goes to 380 C which is sorta good enough but not really good enough.

Nice tool I have used several of these over the years for my work some cheep some very expensive just watch out if you are testing something that has a very reflective or shiny surface the readings can be all over the place. But it probably said that in the instructions. Looking forward to what is in the box happy new year. Steve.
😁 Thanks Steve. Yep, reflective surfaces are a problem. I didn't go in to how to get around this issue, but it is an easy fix. I didn't cover the principles of emissivity in this video it was more of a general usage overview 😁. Thanks for watching 😁 👍
