- Greetings Everybody, I'm really happy everyone is enjoying The Moe Howard videos.
Moe Howard appeared on the Mike Douglas Show in the 1970"s.
It's quite remarkable to see Moe out of character talking about his brothers, the making of the wonderful shorts, and lots of other interesting conversations..ENJOY!

This is so beautiful. Even in his winter years, Moe was a master comic. He never lost his touch for the zany and outrageous. He made us smile both then and now.
Truth Indeed
That’s actually right.
I was in high school when this aired. It was on in the afternoon and I couldn't get home in time to see it. I was disappointed. This is the first time I've seen it... 35 years later. It's worth it.
Even in his twilight years, Moe Howard can still make them laugh. Thanks for sharing this golden moment with all us 3 Stooges fans!
Oh Yes
So beautiful, just like when Larry ducked and Moe followed him and nailed him. I bet Moe had a blast doing this. Bless The Three Stooges, they live in my heart forever
The rumor is in Mike's book, Moe showed up the day of the taping early in the morning and was sitting in the lobby waiting for him to come to work to go over skits they can do on the show ❤️
he did that in one the shorts as well
Yes
AMEN!
@@dragonballsub-zero6632 He was very Type A. He used to memorize all of the other actors' lines in the Stooges shorts, as well as his own, for the sake of timing.
Saw this on TV when it aired in 1973. I was home from school because I was sick. I was bored so I turned on the TV and there was Moe! Funny....
You just know Moe was having a totally blast throwing those pies.
Moe's a real showman, good to see him strut his stuff
who WOULDNT LOL
It would have been something if Curly/Shemp and Larry were there as well. Man, would that have been something.
In Mike Douglas' 1999 autobiography I'll Be Right Back, he writes that arriving at the studio at 8AM, waiting alone in the lobby was Moe Howard, ready with a list of comic bits for consideration in that day's show, and ready to rehearse. Mr. Douglas has said that Moe Howard may have been the most conscientious performer he ever worked with
thanks for sharing.

Nice avatar.
Aww
RIP Moe Howard, Ted Knight and Mike Douglas
Yes,RIP The FUN times are gone
Ted Knight worked with two real comedic geniuses. Moe Howard and Rodney Dangerfield (Caddyshack).
Nobody could throw a pie better than Moe Howard. :)
Perhaps tied with Buster Keaton.
I LOVE how Moe does his little dance at the end! :-D
yes! its so adorable! lol
His dance was so cute
It's a shame Moe, Larry and Curly havr passed away. It would've been one of the highlights of my life if I could ever be in a pie fight with them. RIP Fellas! You were (are) great!
Me too! I ran home after school so I wouldn't miss a minute of it! I laughed at The Stooges since before I had teeth and my grandmother was a huge Mike fan! As Bob Hope said, "Thanks for the memories!"
The Stooges are and always will be the great equalizer. You can put a nuclear physicist and a hobo in the same room and turn on a stooges short and you can't tell who is who.
When I was a kid In the 60's they were promoting the New Three Stooges Cartoon shorts they stopped in SF and I got to see them. Larry was tired, and I never thought Curly Joe was funny but Moe was better than ever and just loved to make people laugh. It's one of my most precious memories, Thanks for sharing this!
I'll watch this 1000x over until I learn Moe's skills. Moe is my pie-throwing Obi-Wan. My master. I must learn from him.
Moe Howard a comic genius!
I think that Moe Howard was the only person who could discuss the art of pie-throwing as if he was leading a lecture, not to mention that he was probably the only person that you wouldn't mind being the recipient of having him throw a pie in your face.
There is a technique to it, to throw it at someone properly without hurting them. We did a thing at work once where the manager took pies in the face, someone did it too hard and actually gave them a black eye. We're assuming it was an accident 🙄
What an honor it would have been to get hit with a pie by Moe Howard. He has made me laugh so much since I first watched the three stooges when I was little.
I always got a bang out of Moe whether he was throwing pies or slapping the other guys across the face
@@kachoo2135 I once read Moe traveled to Pennsylvania to see his son, and was asked to speak at a college. During the question-and-answer session, a young man came up on stage with a pie in his hand. Moe frowned because the pie had real fruit in it instead of the whipped or shaving cream pies they used, but the young man would not be dissuaded; Moe threw, the pie exploded, and the man fell backwards. The young man was all smiles. He thanked Moe and returned to his seat.
Watching this video makes me wish I was 5 years old again. I would have wanted to jump up on the stage and get in on the action.
RIP Moe Howard. Your comedy will never be forgotten.
This is so great to see Moe in the 70's. I love it !
Tears in my eyes
Laughing so hard
Moe was the best
Moe throwing a pie at you. What an honor!!
This Lung Cancer comedian did his best
What a blast this had to of been with THE MOE HOWARD !!
I remember watching this as a child. This is wonderful! I still laugh till I cry every time I watch this. Thanks for posting it. What a treat!
Moe was the master when it came to the pie n face routine. Thanks MR. Howard for many years of laughs!
Considering that Moe had terminal lung cancer developing at the time, this is one of the greatest captures in cinema history. And God bless Mike Douglas for having been savvy enough to recognize what preserving this means to the rest of us! Four Stars!
jimymac1,
Thank you from the TOP and Bottom of my heart for sharing this with us. Mike--part of my childhood as my parents watched--and Moe, an idol! I just love this.
Tom
your welcome
No one can ever match the stooges and Moe even into his 70's sounded awesome.
Lessons from the master.
Even if he’s the best
Moe shows his true brilliance. This is priceless!
Learned so much about the Stooges from this interview, have all 190 plus episodes on DVD and introduced my Nephew to these and he cant get enough of them.
Laughter and comedy spanning generations and generation that my Grandparents introduced me to them growing up in the 80s. Thanks so much for sharing this.
your welcome
When I was a kid, they were on every Saturday morning,my brother, dad and I would get up early just to watch them, they were the best, those were good times
i want to thank you for this. it took me back to a time when america was such a better place.i never have laughed as hard as i did when i was a kid and watching the stooges.that was along time ago.nobody can ever do what these boys did.
Truth Indeed
The Three Stooges was one of my favorite TV programs always they made me laugh in spite of seeing them again and again, I was a child when you hear one of your show that Moe Howard was dead, so I was very sad and nobody could you explain how I felt in this momnet . today Moe made me laugh again in this video. thanks for sharing. To all the Three Stooges that rest in peace.
Must have been great for Moe to come on the show and relive sone of the good ole days and that was likely the last pie fight he participated in as well. Thank You Stooges for all the laughter you have brought for generations and many more to come.
Truth Indeed RIP Moe Howard
RIP Moe Howard, Ted Knight and Mike Douglas. This one still has me laughing in tears every time I watch it since the first time I saw it in 1973. God bless you Moe!
This was so great. 2:44 is the pefect throw. Douglas never sees it coming!
Moe Howard...God love you, sir, you were one of a kind and my heavens but you and your brothers and Larry made me laugh myself to tears almost every afternoon after school for years as a kid. This is good, honest humor of a style the world needs to rediscover. RIP boys, you were golden. LONG LIVE THE STOOGES ^.^
Whatever one might think of the Stooges' material, their execution of it was virtually flawless. They developed a talent for comedic timing that has never been equalled imho, never mind surpassed. Nobody before or since could make their stunts look as easy, natural, and spontaneous as they could.
Oh how did I find this. How priceless is this. Thanks for posting.
1:40 I started giggling like a child at this point.
I can't pin point what my sense of humor is anymore but pie fights are one of the classics that still tickles my funny bone regardless. Especially when it's improvised
I was fortunate enough to have Moe as a pen pal back in the 70's when I was in high school. I was able to visit Larry at the Country Hospital too. Both were very nice men and knew how to treat their fans. They were old school entertainers with a lot of class! Miss them very much.
There's just something about pie throwing that makes you laugh...after all these years. Not sure when this aired, but Moe was still a natural. A now long gone style of comedy, these guys never got the regognition they deserved. RIP
Moe doesn't move like an old man at all here... it's hard to believe he'd be gone in a year.
SgtTravisBickle just dye his hair black and he was back to his own self.
Two years actually. Moe's appearances on The Mike Douglas Show was recorded in 1973, and he died on May 4th, 1975.
And it’s unfortunate because he’s unable to breathe
Steelstreet1 Crew When he was younger, his hair was actually brown.
it's amazing that after seeing a pie in the face 10,000 times...it's STILL funny XD
My dad had almost all the shorts on VHS, I grew up laughing at them.
Along with Laurel and Hardy and, Abbot and Costello.
What a way to end my day, laughing my head off.
Use to love the Mike Douglas Show as a kid.
It's just great hearing the anticipation of them starting to go at it with the pies. I also can't believe Moe was really that small. Their movies didn't lie.
He was only 5'3
Pie throwing looks so fun, I wish I could do it. I'm 15 years old and love classic entertainment. I usually like classic horror movies but The Three Stooges are so awesome they fit right in. Such classic stuff and still so funny. Gotta love classic three stooges slapstick.
Great video! Takes me back to my high school days in the mid-1970s. I'd do my homework after school in the kitchen and mom was watching Mike Douglas in the living room. I was within earshot and listened to each show. Kinda reminds me of the raw egg fight on Johnny Carson with Dom Deluise. Man, those were some great times!!!
man he still sound like when he was young some people voices never change huh
This video should be required viewing for anyone wishing to pursue a career in slapstick comedy. Moe Howard has absolutely perfected the art of pie throwing.
That was great!!! Thank you! I have a new appreciation for Moe Howard and the Stooges. Moe... what a genuinely great entertainer!
loved them as a kid and this show takes me right back. 1970's to 2019 just the same fun n games.
Just absolutely classic, the Stooges will live forever. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!
The Three Stooges were the real kings of comedy.
I was born in 1971 and I absolutely LOVE the 3 Stooges. When I was a kid and got home from school if I had any homework, if the Stooges were on my mother would let me watch them first then I'd hit the homework. No other program was worthy of that. Moe, Larry, Shemp and Curly forever!!!!! The 3 Stooges will never die.
Moe still had it! Way to go Moe!
This was the best!
Mike Douglas' show was the best!
When comedy was real, pure, and innocent!!!
I grow watching every stooge episode, during all my life (49 y.o) I change my most favorite stooge when I learn more and more about the art of comedy, since a few years Larry inspired a new point of view in me sense of humor. But after watch this video I understand this fact: Moe always was the soul of the three stooges. Thanks a millon for share and greetings from Argentina.
your welcome
Thanks for sharing the video clips with Moe from the "Mike Douglas Show." I've been picking up the complete DVD collections that are being released currently, and so I've been in a Stooges mood.
-- Matt
Wow. First time seeing Moe on somethin other than 3 stooges. Great
How can I describe The Three Stooges with words... I grew up with them, they´re part of my life and memories, they are a feeling. From Argentina, a true Stooges fan. Thank you very much for posting this.
your welcome
The fact that the show hosts got in on the shenanigans is a testamant of Moe and the Stooges becoming so beloved in the American eye.
Thanks for sharing. Great memory.
I come back to this often as it always makes me smile.
I watched all of the Three Stooges episodes when they were shorts in the movies when I was a young boy, to all the reruns. I have watched many of the videos that you have as your favorites. They take my mind off of the real world....
Wow! I never saw this, Moe when he was
older! This is great! God bless him!
0:58 moe missing a pie....how rare!
I think that was on purpose.
Uh oh
Mike Douglas was a wonderful guy and I miss his show very much. It was a true talk-variety show, with guests who came on not only to plug their latest projects but to actually have conversation and entertain.
Aew,Yes,Mike Douglas was Great man.He is so Missed and Loved SIP ♥
Thanks for the laugh-until-you-cry. May you live forever Moe.
Sad to think all three of those guys are gone, but thanks to clips like this we can relve the nuttiness! Mo Howard looks like George Burns here, and it was surreal listening to Ted Knight do his Ted Baxter when he asks the Manaquin if she will be in town later! Great stuff, and I do miss these kinds of daytime talk shows. TV is not the same anymore.
OMG possitivitly the greatest ever. Long live Moe! He still had it even at that age. There's not too mnay senior citizens that stilld o that kind of stuff, but this is Moe howard we're talking abbout the kind of pie throwing haha. Great Stuff 5 stars!
Sad but True
A good pie fight is always funny
I laugh out loud every time I see this! It's comedy gold! Thank you!
Still.... Me too 😆.....Mike!

All three hilarious consummate professionals, and all three are sorely missed in this day and age.
I so want this on dvd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was too young to remember this stuff but this is comedy gold NO swear words NO CHEAP SHOTS just great stuff
This is nearly 40 years old and still funny. You can's make good Slapstick Comedy any more like this 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Grande Moe! Hiciste reir junto con Larry, Curley, Shemp, Joe y Curley-Joe al mundo entero!!!
I love Ted Knight too...awesome how he gets Mike Douglas in the end...what a great clip!!
I remember this, and I'll tell you what, I still love those guys
The pie fights are the funniest thing I have ever seen, so much better than the lame comedies we have now...........love the Stodges! Thanks for posting this!
Watching in 2021. We need more of those times
Truth Indeed
Just seeing this clip is truly a classic lesson on film comedy history. God Bless The Stooges!!!!!
Great!... really funny!!! How could you ever think to be with Moe and a lot of pies.. it's like entering a lion's den.. He still looks pretty agile here.. happy birthday! Thanks for the laughter..

Woo woo woo woo woo
GET UP OUTTA THERE!
He is the Yoda of pie throwing! Moeda!
When I saw all those pies on the table, I KNEW the comedy would descend to this! So funny!
Classic comedy...pie in the face
Hilarious! 😂
You know they had a blast!
Lol! Love Moe's dance at the end. XD
It's surprising to see how short Moe was! They must have selected some actors for height or put lifts in the boys shoes to 'level the field.' I'm nearly 60 and still love these guys. My wife and kids (teenagers now) love 'em too.
If I saw this back in the day, I don't remember but it's great seeing it now in any case. Thanks for sharing this!
I'm willing to bet many of the co-stars were chosen for height (several 5'11+ actors), otherwise most of the other men on the set would have been roughly 5'7"-5'8" guys give or take (which was the average during the Stooges' heyday, compared to today's 5'9"-5'10") and thus would have made the Stooges look not as short. Even if the Stooges were wearing lifts (which didn't seem like it, but it's hard to tell), it didn't look nearly enough to even off with the tall co-stars :).
Actually, all the Stooges were just short guys. (With the exception of 4th Stooge, promoted to new Middle Stooge at the end, Emil 'Harry' Sitka, who was average height, making him a bit taller than Moe and Curly-Joe.)
Almost all their supporting players towered over them. We just never noticed, because we were watching the Three, not the rest.
classicsguy626
Okay... I misunderstood. Thought somebody was saying the Stooges were trying to hide their relatively small stature. It actually makes more sense that they would want to be perceived as being a bit short... Three big guys acting the way they did wouldn't have been funny. It would have been scary!
dont forget that when u are old your height decreases
I've watched this video more than a few times, still makes me laugh!
