If you want to understand autotune then look up a piece of gear called the Digitech Vocalist (I orII). It was produced about 20 years ago to help singers that were slightly out of key or guitarists that wanted to produce a second guitar that would harmonize in real time- or other instruments. There were other things it would do and was considered a device that was best left using as little as possible. Every time I hear an artist use any device to make their voice sound robotic I am turned off. There is no skill involved in turning a switch on. BTW Randy is one of the most talented people online. Don’t forget that the red time machine is set to erase 50 years of women’s rights progression, so women are about to lose our very bodily autonomy. If we aren’t killed or maimed by an illegal abortion, we’ll be forced back into “barefoot & pregnant in the kitchen” again…. All due to a group of elite, white men afraid of losing their power. We’ve been acquiring too many seats at the table, they need to put us back in our “place.” Cowards.
Since the Roe leak, the rage of the past 5 years, that exhaustion & a slight glimmer of hope had briefly dissipated to a simmer, has been absolutely boiling over. I was expecting another parody on some deplorable, and thought: good grief, how many shady politicians are there - I don't recall any Lida Rose. Imagine my surprise when it was just a lovely song in 4-part harmony. Magnificent! More of there please!! (Pretty please?)

There is a *Lila* Rose who fits that bill. I thought it was about her at first glance.

It's from The Music Man--classic Broadway musical by Meredith Willson.

You must hear the original 1957 Broadway cast version by the Buffalo Bills and Barbara Cook. It was my introduction to her beautiful voice and exquisite phrasing, which I forgot about until 1985 when she performed a concert version of Sondheim's "Losing My Mind". Renewed my love affair with her. Met her backstage at the Hollywood Bowl and she was charming.

Thank you so much for this! The Music Man was my favorite movie as a child. I sang along every time it was rerun on TV and we had the record too! What joy this brings me!

I'm so grateful that you continue to share your amazing musical and dramatic talent with us. This brought back memories of singing barber shop as a 17-year old freshman in college, 1974! Thank you, Randy, you've given me a long-distance hug!
