To this day I am still completely confused by the fact that Meryl has never been a host on SNL. She is such a natural comedian, storyteller, and communicator. She such a charming, likable, warm presence, and every time she goes on award shows to present, she has the audience eating out of the palm of her hand.

I sat down with Jane Fonda at a restaurant in L.A. just a month ago. She is 81 now and still looks amazing. She was also very nice. I'm lucky for that time.

Jane Fonda is gorgeous her face is so proportioned. Some actresses have really pretty voices Susan Sarandon Jane Fonda Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts. It's not just their voices it's the Cadence in which they speak.

Thing is, Meryl took that encounter with Jane as a life-changing experience and you can betcha she picked up on every little thing she could learn from Jane in the brief time they had together.

Jane Fonda being one of the oldest actress living in history, with an age of 81 and a acting experience of 65 years, 2 time academy winner award. And Meryl Streep who is recognized as the best actress of her generation, and being in the game for 50 years, three time academy award winner.

When I was in college Jane Fonda showed up for a lecture and I was ten feet in front of the stage. Looking up I could see her incredible face fairly close. I had never seen anyone so beautiful.

Wow! What a great moment. Jane has had to live a life scarred by something she did which was very wrong but her intention was to do what she could to bring an end to a war, an involvement which tore our Country apart. But, because of her strength and determination she has survived beautifully and she is, indeed, someone to be proud of and regarded as a true American and for those who still hold a grudge, accept she made a mistake, to which she has apologized for, and forgive her like millions of people have done already.
I once said hello to Jane at Palisades Amusement Park in Fort Lee, NJ, many, many years ago (1959) and she was accompanied by two body guards and she was
the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my life.
And, I always get a kick out of listening to Meryl tell everyone she is from New Jersey. I know we are the butt of many jokes but quite a few prominent people in all walks of life started out in 'Jersey' and, remember, you probably have a relative still living in New Jersey and so does your neighbor in Arizona, Colorado, California, Florida and the rest of the 50 States. Hawaii and Alaska? The first place you go to ask directions, before you leave the place you will meet someone who wants to tell you they came from New Jersey or they still have family there.
Meryl is such a fantastic choice to introduce this award :-)
I never understood that these two icons were given the change to work with each other again. It would be so amazing. They are so different in every respect but it is the acting that brought them together.

Posters are asking what the green tape in Streep’s story is. Movie making involves very complicated light involving many fixtures that take hours to set up specifically, with an end goal in mind. A shot is choreographed so the actors, camera and crew will be at certain spots at certain times in the scene, where the actors will be visible and lit to dramatic effect, and the camera in focus. These spots on the ground are marked with brightly colored tape (not visible to the camera) to remind the actor out of the corner of their eye where they are to move to and stand while performing. If they do not stand in that particular spot at that particular time the careful lighting of the scene, and their performance, will be compromised. If the actor is in shadow or out of focus their shot may be cut from the finished film… as it’s not usually the filmmaker’s intent to show scenes of actors the audience can’t see clearly. Fonda was clueing Streep into the fact that her performance, however well acted, was becoming unusable.

I love Meryl and Jane Fonda is the one of the best actresses of our time. I met her in Atlanta raising money for AIDS. Not only is she dedicated at her craft but she is also a caring and generous person that wants to make life better for those that are in need. As she says, "It's much more important to be interested than to be interesting.".
"Dedicated to her Craft." That BS line. There is no "craft." How old are you? "More important to be interested than to be interesting." Is this a paid for comment? I am a movie nut & I'm sorry, but Jane Fonda does not register on the greatest (neither does her brother). Meryl was at an Epilepsy Foundation fundraiser few that my cousin organized a few years ago. You could not get near her unless you "pledged" $1000. She was haughty to everyone & acted like she was God's gift.

It's curious that Donald Sutherland, who co-starred with Fonda in one of her Oscar winning performances in "Klute" and also toured with her in various anti war rallies, didn't appear, either in person or on tape, to offer his congratulations. Robert Redford did appear via tape during the montage of congratulatory remarks written by Eve Ensler.
