This was an incredible guide! Much better and more in-depth than all the other ones I've found. This next part isn't something I thought might be something I needed help with necessarily, but just something I thought was interesting and wasn't sure if it was a hardware problem for the Quest 2 or a software problem. Originally, it worked fine, for a few minutes, I started a song I downloaded but when I lost it crashed the game. This happened twice before I tried other songs and deleted the first one. It has since not crashed but I am unsure why the first one didn't work. maybe it was too crazy for the Quest 2 or something. Doesn't discredit the guide of course! It was still very easy to understand and has great results so far!

Sadly same here didn’t work, although I used rookie which saved like almost 50-70% of the videos time, was able to download BMBF but when I try to launch BS it crashes, opening from the files loads the game but no mods are added…

What? This one’s outdated!?!? Shouldn’t have worked. You must of used it as a baseline and figured out the changes on your own. Have a good one and happy holidays!
I used this tutorial and it worked great! But then...i accidentally pressed "restore" today and now it's back to the updated version. I'm terrified I've ruined it and I'm not sure how to go back to modded.
Howdy. I installed everything. Everything seemed to work including installing mods. But when I run Beat Saber there's no mods. I have the right app version. All mods say they are installed. I have a meta quest 3?
Quest is current unmoddable for beatsaber. I don’t own a quest 3 so I can’t test all my ideas. You could try installing the apk directly with my September guide
How’s it running on your quest 2? Mine randomly crashes and keeps closing out a lot. Thanks again for all the vids. To even have it and still play it is a privilege even though it crashes a lot. I just wanna know if there’s a way to fix that.
Some songs like Mope Mope causes a crash the moment you slice a cube. But for the most part, I experience little to know crashes pet session and I run whackers/cyoobs/boxes with noodle/map extensions and chroma.
I got "BMBF could not find any mod support for your version of Beat Saber" and "This is because your quest has no internet connection" even though it has connection and it's a strong internet connection also I even done it next to the router and still say the same thing.
I read a similar question with that I even read the instruction but I am confuse with it. Is it possible to make a video about it for those who also got this problem.

Yeah, there’s no option to grant access i’ve even looked up other tips and they didn’t help because apparently my menu is smaller than it’s supposed to be and I can’t fix it
@@RnG_Swiftz- I see, if you go to quick settings, is there a resize option? It should be the button in the bottom right. After you turn that on, you should be able to stretch the window out. Let me know how it goes.
Hey man, I have an issue. When I open BMBF to patch Beat Saber, it says "Could not find any mod support for your version of beat saber (which is v1.28) This is because your quest has no internet connection, and this version of BMBF has no built in support for any version of beat saber." I have the correct version of Beat Saber, and I am connected to fast wifi, so I dont understand why this is happening. Any thoughts? Also, thanks for making these guides. You're awesome.
Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, no luck. I restarted and tried again several times. It might be worth noting that I have to download beat saber 1.28 thru the method you explained in your September guide. The QuestAppVersionSwitcher would say an unknown error whenever I try to install 1.28 with it. The September way seems to work fine though. Also, I have lots of custom songs and mods downloaded from like a year+ ago, do you think if I uninstalled all of those it could help? I'd hate to have to find and re-download all those songs again, but if it could help, I'll try it.
Really good chance you didn’t install the downgrades version. Meta recently broke quest app version switcher and the oculusdb sites. I’m working on a new guide right now.
When i download version 1.28 through qavs, i click install... but Step 2 of the install just goes into a loop and never gets to step 2.1. If i then close qavs and re-open it and click back on the "gets mods" in qavs, instead of showing that i need to download version 1.28, it shows a button that says "mod the game" ... so i click that and it gives me steps 2.1 and on. After going through that i can then go into bmbf, which doesn't mention i need to mod the game, i then download noodle/chroma/map mod... however, the mods don't seem to work if I go into a song that uses them. Could the issue be because i'm "modding" the game through the qavs download, rather than using the step you mentioned of doing it in bmbf?
@@BearskiVR I clicked download on them and it said it would download them after hitting sync... So I just hit download on all 4 and then hit sync once.
@@resresres1 ah, re-read your post. Ya, I’d lean towards qavs being the culprit. This is why I used bmbf for modding as I was running into the same issue. I’d uninstall everything and try again. To uninstall beat saber, just restore it to bring it back to live then follow the guide again. Good luck!

That would due to the file size, the quest app is really bad for transferring video. I highly recommend using google drive if you cant transfer to a computer. Cheers,
it worked ty :D but after i did all the steps and went into beat saber the first time, it was just the original version and it had reset all my progress, i had to go back into bmbf and sync to beat saber again, when i went back in it worked. i was also never getting the “use this folder, allow” popups until i went back into bmbf. but it’s working now :)

i have a bit problem with downgrade. When i want to download 1.28 or others versions it says 0 bytes/0 bytes and in few sec it gives error to download. Do you know whats up with that?
Background process failed. Try restarting the headset and reinstalling QAVS. It can be a bit buggy at time but it always eventually works. Good luck, mate!
I did all the steps and then when I went to the app switcher and clicked to downgrade my beat saber it just said “ToDo” in the downgrade section of app switcher
Pls reply and tell me how to fix this issue. I watched the whole video, did everything you say, but every time I open beat saber, it ask me to restore it so I click open app, but it just kicks me out. I even deleted ever non core mode but it still did not work. Pls tell how to fix this.
It’s not all too bad. Once you know what you’re doing the process takes 10 minutes. But this guide is currently down due to something meta did. The apps the guide use are experiencing connection issues.

@@Xeno349 nah bro, quest 2 modding doesn’t require a pc to run. And before meta did whatever they did yesterday. You didn’t need a pc to install mods either I just had a commenter day and qavs is working again. After I verify it’s working. I can help ya if you need.
@@Xeno349 Well, the video i'm working wont need the log in for QAVS or oculusdb. BUT you will need a pc to do one very specfic thing that the quest 2 should totally be able to do. Ive tried every modded beat saber install guide that i can find including several other of bearski's videos. They are great but it just wont work for me, everytime i finish and try opening beat saber the mods just don't show up and i don't know why

I followed all the instructions on my quest 3 and everything seemed to be the same. However when I open BeatSaber I don’t have the search bar on the left. Has anyone been able to mod it on quest 3 using this guide?
No one has. I've received emails on what you need to do to get mods on the quest 3 but I lack on myself to make the video on. It involves a more in depth method to get the mods to work. QAVS and BMBF wont do the trick this time.
The game crashes frequently and does everything it can to stop me and get me to restore the original version from the Quest store. Are there any mods that cause frequent crashing or am I doing something wrong?
I thought I may have explained it in the video. My apologies if not. The difference could be due to different regions. You should still be able to click on the "standalone hmd" and still find the downloads folder. Let me know how it goes.

Meta changed the name. its called curved view or something like that. Its in the same location as in the video. New video is currently being worked on.
@@skydecay4834 The email from sidequest isnt showing up in VR but is on your pc/phone? Try searching for it using the search bar. You could have the vr set to "show only unread."
Restart the headset. Reinstall quest app version switcher. Make sure app sharing is off. Make sure there aren’t multiple accounts in the headset. Go to 16:11 and make sure that the downgraded version of beat saber successfully installs. Then continue the steps as provided. Good luck!
it tells me that im using an unauthorized version and its against toc then when i press open anyway it wont open and shuts down... i checked to make sure it had fully downgraded on that other app and it did. what do i do
Go back to QAVS and click install. You may have downloaded the right version but it didn’t install. Continue on with the video and you should be good to go!
This was really helpful until the part where I downgrade, when I click the “download lastest moddable version” it takes me to the downgrade page but the page only says “todo” When I go to bmbf it says something about the core mods, can you help me??
So meta just blocked quest app version switcher and oculusdb. The two prime methods of downgrading beatsaber. I have a new method that I verified works and am currently making the guide on. Hoping it’ll be done today and launched asap. Sorry for the delay.
Hey! I followed your tutorial to a T, even tried older versions, but whenever I get to the point where i ask BMBF to open beat saber, I'll see the same beat saber logo that pops up in your video, then I get the privacy message asking me to restore my app to it's original form if it's not for development purposes, and no matter if I hit "close" on that message or "open app" beat saber will never open. I see the BMBF window go black for a bit, but then it comes back and beat saber never opens. What do I do? (I'm on oculus 2)
PC runs at a different version compared to Quest 2/3/pro. The Quest version needs to be Version 1.28 to work. There has been no "new" moddable version since then. So if you're modded now, dont risk an update without backing it up.

The downloaded apk for sidequest isnt showing in the download folder? You're the second commenter to say this. I'm going to have to do a factory reset as I'm still able to see the file and run it with mobile vr station. I'll try and get an update for tonight.
I’ve tried this & every time it either doesn’t launch or beat saber is stuck on The loading screen. I’ve already tried reinstalling everything about 4 times & still nothing.
No, and you’re not the first to comment this. It’s possible there has been an update to qavs or the quest 2 that makes my guide differ now. I do have many people saying the guide still works but there are a few differences. Any chance you could run through the test of the guide and let me know how it goes?
Just managed to run modified Beat Saber for the first time today! Big thanks! I've got some questions though, 1. Can you get banned by Meta for modding the game? Using BMFM or Version changer? 2. Meta Store keeps trying to update my Beat Saber, does this affect the mods?
Yo, glad it worked for you. 1. No one has reported being banned for modding beat saber. Many have bought their headset and beat saber with the sole purpose to play modded beat saber. But meta does reserve the right to take recourse at their discretion. So it is a “play at your own risk” scenario. 2. Yes, if you do update then you will no longer be playing modded beat saber. This is an annoyance but is standard behaviour.
I’d recommend reinstalling the game. Meta just blocked authentication methods for downloading downgraded beat saber a couple days ago. I have a new guide I’m getting ready for launch. But it won’t be no pc/phone.

@@moniboykins You need to login first, then do the steps normally and accept all permissions asked. It should hopefully work, so login first then do the creating the backup/beat saber version steps, during this phase it should ask for perms. Hopefully it works!
How stable is your internet? Does the the download start at all? Try reconnecting the headset to wifi and restarting your headset. Lemme know how it goes.

Beat saber should just stop updating and embrace the modders, everyone knows unmodded beatsaber makes it go from a must buy to a very eh game.

They could ban accounts and headset ids for those that mod but have decided against it.

If you didn’t make a back up then you’ll need to add mods back with qavs.

Then you may have downloaded v1.28 from qavs but you did not install it.
I would recommend starting from that step.
It worked, i realised that if you update qavs it won't work

for some reason in mobile, VR Station, it says, standalone HMD instead of quest 2
Regional difference, you should still be able to find the downloads folder after you click on “standalone hmd.”

Uninstall bmbf and beat saber.
Install live version of beat saber.
Start from the beginning.

The QuestAppVersionSwitcher would say an unknown error whenever I try to install 1.28 with it. The September way seems to work fine though.
Also, I have lots of custom songs and mods downloaded from like a year+ ago, do you think if I uninstalled all of those it could help? I'd hate to have to find and re-download all those songs again, but if it could help, I'll try it.
@@AquaticGrizzly ah, you had an older version of modded beat saber. You’ll have to remove that using the qmodding guide detailed on their discord.

Meta recently broke quest app version switcher and the oculusdb sites.
I’m working on a new guide right now.
When i download version 1.28 through qavs, i click install... but Step 2 of the install just goes into a loop and never gets to step 2.1. If i then close qavs and re-open it and click back on the "gets mods" in qavs, instead of showing that i need to download version 1.28, it shows a button that says "mod the game" ... so i click that and it gives me steps 2.1 and on. After going through that i can then go into bmbf, which doesn't mention i need to mod the game, i then download noodle/chroma/map mod... however, the mods don't seem to work if I go into a song that uses them. Could the issue be because i'm "modding" the game through the qavs download, rather than using the step you mentioned of doing it in bmbf?
Did you sync the extra mods after downloading?
@@BearskiVR I clicked download on them and it said it would download them after hitting sync... So I just hit download on all 4 and then hit sync once.

Ya, I’d lean towards qavs being the culprit. This is why I used bmbf for modding as I was running into the same issue.
I’d uninstall everything and try again. To uninstall beat saber, just restore it to bring it back to live then follow the guide again.

If anyone is stuck at 23:27 make sure you have no other accounts in your oculus, i deleted my family's account from it and it worked.

I’m having trouble with recording it just says the video is unavailable on the quest app
That would due to the file size, the quest app is really bad for transferring video. I highly recommend using google drive if you cant transfer to a computer.

it worked ty :D but after i did all the steps and went into beat saber the first time, it was just the original version and it had reset all my progress, i had to go back into bmbf and sync to beat saber again, when i went back in it worked. i was also never getting the “use this folder, allow” popups until i went back into bmbf. but it’s working now :)

i have a bit problem with downgrade. When i want to download 1.28 or others versions it says 0 bytes/0 bytes and in few sec it gives error to download. Do you know whats up with that?
Background process failed. Try restarting the headset and reinstalling QAVS.
It can be a bit buggy at time but it always eventually works.

I did all the steps and then when I went to the app switcher and clicked to downgrade my beat saber it just said “ToDo” in the downgrade section of app switcher

It’s not all too bad. Once you know what you’re doing the process takes 10 minutes.
But this guide is currently down due to something meta did. The apps the guide use are experiencing connection issues.

BUT you will need a pc to do one very specfic thing that the quest 2 should totally be able to do. I just havent figured that out yet.

Ive tried every modded beat saber install guide that i can find including several other of bearski's videos. They are great but it just wont work for me, everytime i finish and try opening beat saber the mods just don't show up and i don't know why

I followed all the instructions on my quest 3 and everything seemed to be the same. However when I open BeatSaber I don’t have the search bar on the left. Has anyone been able to mod it on quest 3 using this guide?
No one has. I've received emails on what you need to do to get mods on the quest 3 but I lack on myself to make the video on.
It involves a more in depth method to get the mods to work. QAVS and BMBF wont do the trick this time.

The game crashes frequently and does everything it can to stop me and get me to restore the original version from the Quest store. Are there any mods that cause frequent crashing or am I doing something wrong?
Qosmetics have been known to cause issues. What other mods do you have installed?

The difference could be due to different regions.
You should still be able to click on the "standalone hmd" and still find the downloads folder.

Try searching for it using the search bar. You could have the vr set to "show only unread."

I actually did figure that out but there’s a whole controversy about it so I decided to take it down.
it never asked me to grand acces and i dont have anything in the backup window....
Back ups would only show if you manually backed something up.
I have various modded versions on my headset.
What time stamp are you on?
20:39 so i clicked Okay beforehand and a different prompt appeared saying “ outdated core mods” not sure were to go from here
Restart the headset.
Reinstall quest app version switcher.
Make sure app sharing is off.
Make sure there aren’t multiple accounts in the headset.
Go to 16:11 and make sure that the downgraded version of beat saber successfully installs.
Then continue the steps as provided.

Its a setting you go to where you can make secondary accounts. Family sharing and what not.

Go back to QAVS and click install.
You may have downloaded the right version but it didn’t install.
Continue on with the video and you should be good to go!

I followed your tutorial to a T, even tried older versions, but whenever I get to the point where i ask BMBF to open beat saber, I'll see the same beat saber logo that pops up in your video, then I get the privacy message asking me to restore my app to it's original form if it's not for development purposes, and no matter if I hit "close" on that message or "open app" beat saber will never open. I see the BMBF window go black for a bit, but then it comes back and beat saber never opens. What do I do? (I'm on oculus 2)
Bmbf is currently down. You can use qavs to add mods atm.

A newer version is moddable on PC. Is it moddable on Quest 2? How would I upgrade without losing everything?
PC runs at a different version compared to Quest 2/3/pro.
The Quest version needs to be Version 1.28 to work.
There has been no "new" moddable version since then.
So if you're modded now, dont risk an update without backing it up.

It’s possible there has been an update to qavs or the quest 2 that makes my guide differ now.
I do have many people saying the guide still works but there are a few differences.

1. No one has reported being banned for modding beat saber. Many have bought their headset and beat saber with the sole purpose to play modded beat saber. But meta does reserve the right to take recourse at their discretion. So it is a “play at your own risk” scenario.
2. Yes, if you do update then you will no longer be playing modded beat saber. This is an annoyance but is standard behaviour.
I cant see "unknown sources" and everyguide says to turn it on in dev options but its not there, is the newest quest 2 update breaking this?

Meta just blocked authentication methods for downloading downgraded beat saber a couple days ago.

@@moniboykins You need to login first, then do the steps normally and accept all permissions asked. It should hopefully work, so login first then do the creating the backup/beat saber version steps, during this phase it should ask for perms. Hopefully it works!

If it’s buggy, restart your headset. A critical background process probably crashed.

How stable is your internet?
Does the the download start at all?
Try reconnecting the headset to wifi and restarting your headset.

Bmbf is current down. You can install mods using the quest app version switcher. That’s currently working.
