  • My MIDI to LED interface, connected to a digital piano and a strip of WS2812b's (Neopixel), finally gets customizable colors! The lack of inputs on the digital piano (unlike a synth with more knobs) has been a problem for adjusting parameters like color. In this video I go over the various ways I solved this problem.

    In line with other comments I'd like to buy one of these once you make a release, sending you an emali

    I would love to have something like this for when I am street performing. Is there a way that I could use some of these features without the extra baggage?

      Oooo that'd be pretty cool, I think it'll be perfect for that. Which features do you consider extra baggage?

    I've been wanting to do pitch-based lighting for my solo guitar sets. I was thinking about getting a MIDI pickup and working out something like this but in my case, the color wheel is aligning with the cycle of 5ths. C = Red, G = Red-Orange, D= Yellow Orange, A = Yellow, E = Lime, B = Green, Gb = Teal, Db = Blue, Ab = Indigo, Eb = Violet, Bb = Blue Magenta, F = Red Magenta. I definitely need to look into this method.

    very cool proget . how can i do the same?? but with a ton of individual push button and shift register 165 ? thank you. i'm a beginner in programming

      Hmmm, not sure if it's possible with a shift register... Best bet would be a microcontroller (like an arduino) running code. That is, if you plan to use an addressable LED like the WS2812b. They require a data signal that has pretty specific timing.

    This is really cool! But have you ever considered trying a LCD hat to change your colors and such instead?

    • @SyntheticState
      @SyntheticState  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! An LCD is a good idea, the thought has crossed my mind. For now I want to try to go as far as possible without one, because I don't want the user to have to menu-dive to change settings. Before an LCD I want to try using the strip itself as a UI display , but we'll see, there may come a point where an LCD will be necessary.
