If you have a 2017 or 2018 Rogue or Qashqai, there is a voluntary recall (P9327) which any Nissan Dealership will reprogram your sensor. If you have a car that is not those cars, then bring in your vehicle for an inspection and they should be able to replace the sensor as long as there is an error code (DTC C1A16) that comes up with their diagnostic tool. Hope this helps.
We have a 2018 pathfinder and dealership is doing the same thing they don’t want to fix because we missed one “transmission oil change “ which makes no sense
@@cesarcruz2321 Hi Cesar, that does not make sense at all. You should goto another nissan dealership to get a second opinion. If your transmission was compromised because you missed a scheduled transmission flush, then having your transmission warranty voided makes sense. Your FEB has nothing to do with transmission flush.
@@SherwayNissan tell that to my local dealerships. They flat out lied to me and said there was no recall. I can’t afford to get it fixed for what they are charging
@@zachtackett27 can you send me your VIN number and ill check it from my end, Ill let you know if any recall notices are coming up. Not all cars are subject to the recall. It depends on your actual VIN number. You can email me at info@sherwaynissan.com
How nice of you to explain this malfunction as if there are no safety concerns connected to it... which there are. For example, when driving in traffic, on a busy highway like an interstate using cruise control, no vehicle in front of the car, the sensor malfunctions slowing the car down potentially inviting a rear end incident. Nissan has been aware of this for several years and needs to fix it.
This has been already rectified by Nissan Canada with a reprogramming of the sensor. If you are still having these issues, then you should get the sensor replaced.
Amen. This is completely unacceptable and a serious safety hazard. Nobody who pays the amount they do to have one of these brand new should have to worry about spending extra time and money to fix what should be functional and reliable in the first place. My front radar in my 2020 Altima has been screwed up literally since I drove it off the lot when I got it, and my rear radar gets intermittently screwy as well (like today; it’s snowing, I go to reverse and the car beeps and then applies the brakes when nothing was behind me 🤦🏻♂️). What’s worse is that i understand it has to be manually disabled every time you drive if you want to avoid the headache altogether, because of course it automatically resets after you turn the car off and start it again. Absolutely horrid “feature”. Had I known that it would be this much of an unpredictable hassle prior to purchasing it, I would have gone with a different vehicle.
Hi, thanks for addressing this issue. My problem is a bit different. My front driver side camera beeps whenever I am too close to anything, but also at a stop sign when someone is in front of me and when I back out of the garage. The front panel lights ups in red. Could there be a technical issue with my camera?
Thanks for explaining this because my car is fairly new. I'm like what does this mean? My light came on in the summer and went back off but I will inform the dealership next time I go.
I have a 2018 Nissan. I had the car for awhile. I experience the malfunction the first year I was driving. Soon enough it just went away. Now it’s back. The weather is getting colder where I’m from. Could that be the issue? Just cold weather
I dont think the coldness would have a factor in this going off. If its intermittent, it could just be the condensation on the sensor? If this is still an issue, i would take it to your local nissan dealership to get it checked out.
Happens for me at random intervals in summer. Either in areas where there is concrete walls around interstate ramps or out in the middle of open land. Less often in open land. I will get the beep and the light. It's a 2019 Sentra. Any advice is appreciated.
I dont think the concrete walls around the interstate ramps would cause that light to come on? I would get that checked out at your local nissan dealership. It should still be under warranty.
If this happens it could also be interference from other radar sources near the vehicle. The only real issues is if the warning ⚠️ light never turns off that means AEB the system is deactivated or if it’s actually applying the breaks and stopping the vehicle when it shouldn’t. Make sure to clean the windshield and front area of your vehicle from any dirt etc. If it persists get someone in the vehicle to take video of the issue and take it in to the dealership you bought it from. I have a 2022 and it has come on before and flashes but then stops, from my understanding that’s just to let you know that the system has been deactivated because it lost radar signal.
Hi I have a 2019 Nissan Altima SL and this light comes on in the morning. Do you believe it’s because of the due? Also, it doesn’t stay on it just flashes. I’m being it to the dealer because I have a warranty, but I curious of why it’s doing such a thing. Thanks.
Does this happen all the time? Its hard to diagnose from what you said, but its good that you are getting it checked out by the dealer. They will be able to help you further.
I have a 2019 Nis Nissan Altima SV. It's now November 17, 2022 and I just started getting the Forward Radar is Not Available message. Before taking it to the dealership, is there an easy way I can check to see if the sensor is obstructed and clear it myself? I am on a fixed income. I live in an area where there are a lot of 55 years old Plus communities. For some reason everything is more expensive here. For that reason I don't go to the dealer for basic oil changes etc. So, if you can give me some DYS options, I w would appreciate it.
If the light is constantly on, then try taking it through the car wash to see if that helps. If not, a 2019 Altima should still be under your comprehensive warranty (depending on when it was first registered, and depending on how many kms you have on your car). Hope this helps.
Hi, can you point out which part at the front I could potentially go and clean it up? I had the same issue yesterday when I was driving in the snow. I had a Sentra 2018. Thx!
If you have a Nissan logo that is protected by glass, then it should be under the logo, otherwise, it should be underneath the bumper. Next time you go to your Nissan dealership for an oil change, ask them to point it out to you.
Thank you so much. I just purchased my 2020 Murano yesterday and I saw this light come on and I was like what?!?. I'm still going to take it to the dealers.
The biggest problems with my 2019 SV Leaf Plus are the intermittent issues with the FLR and the rear view camera. The fact that they're intermittent makes the problem nearly unbearable because the issues can pretty much be expected to disappear when taken to a dealer for service. Thankfully this video explains the FLR anomaly but the rear view camera issues are driving me crazy. The issue appears to be temperature related. It works perfectly during the winter and never fails. But as soon as the weather changes, and or the sun beats down on the back of the car, it fails. Seems to transition around the 60F point. The screen either looks like it has lost the horizontal sync and is trying to create a picture or it gives up completely and the display turns all pink or all blue. It's seems to indicate that there is a poor connection, (bad solder joint, loose connector, etc...) but the dealer is just going to keep saying that the problem cannot be reproduced. Seriously, how difficult would it be for the dealer to simply remove the inside rear panel from the hatch and inspect the camera? Rather than simply observe the dash monitor, shouldn't I be able to request the dealer perform such an inspection AND HAVE IT ACTUALLY PERFORMED?
Hi, sorry that you are going through so much for an intermittent problem. Did you suggest this to your dealer? I actually do not know how much work is involved to take off the inside rear panel, or if its as easy to inspect the camera should you take off the inside panel. Did you try taking a video of the issue when it happened and then recording all the data associated with the issue (ie. time, temperature, cold start, or after its been running for a while?). If there is a warranty issue, there should be no charge for this, but the dealer might have issue with having to pay a technician and not getting paid by the factory for taking off the rear panel only to find there was nothing there. Maybe suggest to see if there is an update available for your navi system. I actually have a 2019 Leaf Plus, and I had some issues with the phone audio when my iPhone was plugged into the car (annoying static where I had to unplug my phone and use the hands free phone speaker to speak). The update seemed to work, and I havent had any issues ever since. If your dealer isnt helping, try another dealership.
So if “unavailable front radar obstruction” flashes is it means the AEB is not working and the car will not assist in braking if you come to close to another object?
That is correct. I will not work if you have that light flashing. I will start to work when that obstruction is cleared. Goto your local Nisan Dealer to get it checked out if the light is not coming off.
Are you talking about when you are on cruise control? It means that it keeps a distance in front of you shorter or longer depending on your comfort level of how many car lengths you want when you are in intelligent cruise control or pro pilot mode (depending on what your car comes equipped with). This would not be applicable with non intelligent cruise control or non pro pilot vehicles.
@@SherwayNissan Thanks for the reply but I’m talking about in the parking aids menu, not cruise control. There is a distance setting that has short, med and long. What do those mean? Or in other words what do they control? Btw I have a 2019 Nissan Altima SL. Thanks.
I just bought a 2017 nissan rogue and the front senor was action up when it was raining during the tropical storm and every time I go through a Lil flood it would go off?
So the external weather conditions and puddles would definitely affect your sensor, after the rain, or after the sensor gets cleaned, it should be back to normal.
Just bought my 2020 Sentra from a Honda dealership and the 3rd day my forward breaking light was flashing it said forward breaking off and was flashing what could it be ??
Like I said in the previous comments, this is a sensor that needs to be clear of obstruction. That is like saying, "What I cant use my camera phone" when your lens is dirty.
Hello, I have a 2021 Nissan Altima , Which has this exact problem you are talking about but the problem has not been resolved yet at my Nissan dealer, They are telling me it had has nothing to do with the sensors in the back of the car or maybe even the camera. We had a bad snowstorm here but the storm has cleared up so the conditions are better outside but the warning message unobstructed radar has not gone away. Can you answer my question???
Hi Shannaus, sorry for the late response. There are no sensors on the back of the car. The sensor is either in the front of the car behind the Nissan Logo (if you have glass in the logo) or its located in the front bumper. If that unobstructed radar has not gone away, then you should definitely get this checked out by your local nissan dealership. One way to test to see if its an issue is to try your cruise control. If its working then the Unavailable front radar obstruction warning should be off. If the cruise control is not working then go see your nissan dealership and let them diagnose it. It will be under warranty. If that nissan dealership cant help, go get a second option from another nissan dealership.
We got this warning. It's a beautiful sunny day. Hubby said it came on b4 and went off. We turned the car off and cranked it back up and it went off again. Is it bad wiring or something?
Hi, We recently had snow and in Maryland and I would get this error all the time. On my way to Sunny atmosphere i get this error as soon as I get above 45 on the highway
Hello..I just bought a month ago a 2018 Nisaan Maxima with 14K miles on it. Since last week, with a clear sunny day, clean car, randomly this light turns on...last for about 5 min...then turns off. Any advise?
Can really diagnose that? Could it have been a leaf or some sort of obstruction? Your car should still be under warranty, so I would have it checked out by your local Nissan Dealer.
I have a 2019 Sentra. I hit a dog who got in my way during a rain storm. I tried to stop but to late. Now I get the message front brake, two car collide symbol and and something about front radar something. The little grill bottom of bumper is loose. How do I stop getting alerts?
I have a Nissan Pathfinder 2022 and there is no snow it only says that Forward Driving Aid disabled and this occurs when I am in Cruise Control which stops functioning.
Yes, the Cruise control will stop functioning if your Forward Driving Aid is not functioning properly. Did you purposely disable the Forward Driving Aid? Try going into the Menu and scrolling through the options to turn it back on. Try that and see if the cruise control will start working again.
Hi Sherway, my nissan kicks SR the RPM sometimes go up to 2500 and above. In the morning when -12 or down I understand. But in-between it rise up. What is the wrong. Could you pls explain.
Hi Baiju, im sorry it took so long to reply. I didnt really understand your question. Are you talking about the RPM going up to 2500 at idle? Or when you are driving?
Hello i have 2019 sentra s , i hit the curb due to that radar sensor and bumper both got damaged i have changed the bumper and also i bought the radar sensor from ebay with same part number still i see the warning on my dashboard as "unavailable radar sensor " . What can i do now ?
We hope you are okay from your accident. Unfortunately if you do not buy your part from a Nissan Dealership, we dont know if that is a genuine Nissan part. You should go to your local dealership to have them look at the part and test it out. If you had purchased your part from a Nissan Dealership, your part would be under factory warranty for 1 year or 20 000 km.
We have a 2018 Pathfinder. The Forward Warning constantly goes off that we are unable to use cruise control. Nissan said in Feb 2020 that they found "no codes stored" and were "unable to duplicate customers concern". Since then it has rarely functioned properly.
I have the same issue on infinity qx60 and not even dealer can fix it. Crappy car, switch over my mistake I paid cash for this and now no matter what I have to use this car until it die, hopefully soon because I do not hold this situation any more. Any time I need to drive on the express way I feel like if I wish this car wont exist any more. Good luck.
Hi I have Nissan Altima 2019 SV model. There are two types of message are coming frequently 1. System Fault 2. Front radar is unavailable, area blocked. How to resolve these issues? My car collision waring system, emergency brake will work or not work because of these alarms?
If the Front radar in unavailable, then yes, your car collision warning system or your cruise control will not operate. Your emergence brake should work as that has nothing to do with your system. I would get your car check out by your local nissan dealership. There seems to be an issue especially when there is a light that says system fault.
Hi David, if its flashing it means that its not recognizing the sensor at that time. If its staying illuminated it means that there might be an issue with the sensor and that you should get it checked out by a Nissan dealership. Hope this helps.
I purchased a brand new 2020 Nissan Sentra SR. And mine turned off while heavy rain. Is that even normal? After the weather cleared it never turned back on. I had to pull over and turn off and on the car for it to work again.
I drove my car in snowy period of time and faced with the same warning like Unavailable Front Radar Obstruction. I was a little bit disappointed. Why it happened? But after 5 minutes this warning disappeared and sensor start to be able again. Somethink like that.
Yes, there is nothing to be alarmed with. During snowy periods, the sensor might be blocked with snow, and as soon as it melts or blows away, the sensor should start working again.
Front radar detection is there for safety so if it comes up obstruction whilst driving especially in bad weather conditions when you most need it, it makes driving dangerous. I know in bad weather you need to drive a lot slower but the detection system gives you added security and safety
Front radar detection is there for safety is absolutely correct, and the application is there for when someone runs out on the street or if the car in front suddenly brakes. This works best in clear weather. Unfortunately if the sensor is blocked due to poor weather conditions, then the system is only as good as its environmental conditions. Fortunately, while this system will shut off during extreme snow or rain, it should still function properly when there is less extreme conditions.
Did it turn off after you cleaned it? I can take some time for the sensor to reset? If not you should take it into your local nissan dealership to have it checked out.
@@SherwayNissan the sensor behind my rear view mirror has to be replaced, it was still under warranty and they gave me a rental free until it was fixed. If it was not under warranty then the part would have been $1,100
@@analarson2920 well, its not always snowing constantly, and when the sensor is not blocked then the car should be functioning properly. If its not, then you should goto your local Nissan Dealership to get it check out. This is not a new issue for cars that have this sensor. If there is obstruction, then the Front Radar will not work properly.
i just bought a 2020 versa, the light came on after i left the lot and will not go off. we have perfect weather. could the sensor be faulty? should i worry about it randomly breaking for no reason? help!
Yes, you should get this checked out by your local Nissan Dealership. This will affect the way your cruse control works. The sensor could be faulty and might need to be replaced, but only a licensed Nissan Technician with the factory tools can diagnose that. I would probably be under warranty as you should have a 3 year or 60 000 km comprehensive warranty with the car.
This happens on my 2020 Rogue SV when it is raining or snowing. Is it normal for this malfunction to completely disengage the cruise control and make it unusable?
Just great. We rented from Hertz and they gave us a Pathfinder. Now for our 13 hour trip from Florida to Missouri, we have to drive with no cruise control! 🤬
I dont think speed has anything to do with the sensors. If you have cleaned them, and you are still getting the beep, then I suggest you take it to your local nissan dealership to make sure the sensors are in working order.
Hello, excuse me my Rogue warnning that front Radar is does not work even the weather is fine, and the temperature is 27°c. Would you please tell me what is the problem?
There could be dust or mud on the sensor. Try going for a car was to see if that helps. If not, take it to your local Nissan Dealership to see if there is a faulty sensor.
Can someone explain to me why an obstruction of the forward crash sensor lights up when I drive through a specific part of town, everyday, and then after driving about 10 seconds, it turns off. When I approach, I know exactly when and where it will light up, then turn off.
I just received my license plates and here in California you have to have your front license plate on so I was wondering does it obstruct the full ability of the sensor with a front license plate on?
“Don’t worry it’s just telling you it’s not working” okay so when we need it the most when the weather is bad just fuck it right? I bought my 19 Altima and I live in Texas. No bad weather, the front radar says it’s obstructed.
I would goto your local Nissan Dealership, and have it looked it. I dont know what your driving conditions are like there, but I would assume there could be more dust there then what we experience here.

Ok good! This makes me feel much better. Just got a 2020 Nissan kicks a week ago, and it went off a few times. I live in Oregon and we are having some heavy rains so this makes me feel better.
This is something we cannot comment on until a certified Nissan Technician looks at your car. I would suggest you get your car checked out if this is happening.
hi, just got a used Nissan Murano which i love but in snow today the front radar obstruction prompt came on, which you explained, but then a few minutes later my cruise control went out, are they related??? worried that i'll now have computer issues when i'm nowhere near a Nissan dealership!
Yes, they are directly related. As long as the FEB sensor is operational, your cruise control should be working. If for any reason it is not working (faulty or dirty), then the cruise control will shut off.
@@SherwayNissan thanx for explaining! was kinda freaking out at first -- next question, is the black front panel low to the ground part of the car's radar system? it means pretty low clearance where i live in the snowy mountains
How do I fix my unavailable front radar obstruction on my 2018 Nissan Sentra now it pops on and off every few minutes especially since I hit a dead deer in the middle of the road but thankfully it didn't mess up my vehicle
Hi Vivian, you might need to get that checked out as the sensor might have been damaged in the collision. You can ask the bodyshop to ask your insurance company to open up a case as it was not fixed properly the first time.
Hi! I just bought a used 2018 Nissan Sentra SV. After driving it roughly 10 miles away from the dealer, I get a notification saying “AEB malfunction”. I also see a symbol of 2 cars colliding. I took it to Nissan in my area. They said that the code didn’t match up to anything they had. They cleared the code but the notification is still there.
I have an appt for Wednesday with another dealer so let’s see what they say! The first Nissan dealer said that they didn’t recognize the code. Maybe the 2nd will know!

The sensor can be dirty from excess dust, and you should try to get the car washed to see if this works or not. Otherwise you sensor could be faulty and you should get this looked at.
Did you try going through a car wash. If it doesnt turn off then you should goto your local Nissan dealership to get it check out as it could be a faulty sensor.
Hi Can you tell me which country you are in? I didnt think Micra's had Forward Emergency Braking feature in the cars in Canada. I wont be able to comment on any cars that are not for Canadian Market, but if your car comes equipped with it, and your car is letting you know that the Forward Emergency Braking is not functioning, then you need to take your car into your Local Nissan Dealership for them to look at.
Please go see your local Nissan Dealership to get it checked out. The malfunction warning could be that the sensor is blocked and needs to be cleaned. Or there might be a faulty sensor. The dealership will be able to diagnose this under warranty should your car be under warranty. For the check engine light, that could be caused by a number of reasons as well. That will be an easy check for the dealership. Hopefully its because the gas tank lid was not screwed on properly. This seems to be the most common reason for that light to come on on a new vehicle.
Good question, yes, you can just clean it off but more often than not, the snow will melt off and your sensor will just start working again. There is no use in always cleaning off the sensor during the winter, as you will have to pull over all the time to clean it off if its snowing heavily.
@@amyberg9027 The sensor is either located behind the Nissan Logo in the front bumper (if there is glass there) or behind the bumper (you would have to go on your hands and knees and look under the car to see it. It all depends on what year and what model you have.
The sensor can be found behind the logo if you have a glass cover in front of the logo, or underneath the bumper (on some models). The camera behind the rear view mirror is for your ProPilot function.
My mom has a 2020 rogue, less than 1k miles on it & that light goes off in all weather, with no obstruction. Shes sad, it was her first brand new car and shes already having issues
My family and I took a trip to Arkansas and it rained heavily and mines came on, that was a week ago and it has not worked properly ever since any recommendation
There might be some residual mud on the sensors? Did you try going through a car wash? If that doesnt work, try going to your local nissan dealership to get it check out. You might have a defective sensor.
Depending on the model, it could either be behind the bumper, under the bumper, but more commonly placed behind the Nissan logo in the front of the car (but only if there is glass in front of the Nissan Logo).
So depending on the road conditions (ie. muddy conditions), this might affect your Front Radar sensor. If the issue doesn't correct its self after it dries out, you might want to go and visit your local nissan dealership.
Mine just started doing this and not on snowy slushy days. Dealer says the sensors are very sensitive to sunlight and heat. I’ve had the vehicle for 1 year and this is just starting now. I think there’s more to it.
You might need to run this though a car wash to see if the sensors are dirty? If not, goto your local nissan dealership to see if the sensors are working properly.
Are you saying it was 45 degrees Celsius? I dont know if temperature has anything to do with the Front Radar Obstruction Warning, but I would goto your local Nissan Dealership to get it looked at.
@@jayyoo oh so means we can't really use just the curise control right? Because in my car there is some issue I guess that it always shows unavailable radar obstruction after I drive it for like 5 10mins.

My warning light stays on and now the ABS light has come on. I took the car our local Nissan dealer and was told that the repair to fix it would be $4000 and it's not covered in our warranty. I have the Gold warranty
Hi, can you let me know what year your car is? Im going to assume that you are out of factory warranty since you bought a 3rd party warranty (unless you bought the Nissan Gold Warranty?). Unfortunately, not all 3rd party warranties are the same and does not cover the same items (there could be tiered coverages - bronze, silver, gold, platinum etc). I cant really diagnose what the issue is, but $4000 seems a little high. If you like, send me the diagnostic from the Nissan dealership, and ill see if i can suggest something else. My email is info@sherwaynissan.com
I dont really know what you are looking at that shows malfunction? I think more than likely its the same thing, but you should get it checked out at your local nissan dealership to make sure its operating correctly.
What about a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder? I need cruise control because it helps on long drives; I’m a disabled veteran and I have lupus, fibromyalgia and neuropathy. All are painful and are worse when driving long distances. My family does a lot of road trips and it would be nice to have my cruise control again. I took it to a Nissan dealership where they didn’t fix it or my front plug for charging my phone or anything else for that matter. They scammed me out of 900.00 to not fix anything or even detail and shampoo the inside of my car :( That warning pops up as soon as I start driving, every single time. It never goes off. It’s been 2 years now.
I dont know that the repair was for $900, but you should go in to get the sensor checked out. The light should not be on permanently and depending on when your pathfinder was registered, it still might be under warranty. But if they did this 2 years ago, that would have definitely been under factory warranty (unless there was physical damage). If this dealer isnt helping, then I would locate a different dealership to get a different opinion.
Hi Taj, without seeing the damage or the extent of the damage you caused when you hit the sidewalk, you will have to get it check out by a certified nissan dealership. I dont know how the sidewalk would have interacted with your car? The sensor is on the front, so its impossible for me to comment. Sorry.
It could be that the sensor is dirty, or the sensor could be faulty. You should go back to your dealership to get it checked out. It should still be under warranty if you just picked up a new car.
I am having same problem with my 2018 nissan altima, it keeps showing unavailable front radar obstruction. But there is no snow here or rain. What can it be??? Help please
It could be a dirty sensor from dust. Did you try going though a car wash? Otherwise, i would goto your local nissan dealership to have it checked out.
@@gamerloayza3047 a newly purchased car could still have a dirty sensor. If you have any concerns, you should go back to where you bought it and have them take a look at it.
Unfortunately you cannot prevent it from coming on as if the sensor is obstructed in anyway. If you feel that it comes on in error (beautiful weather, no dust etc) then you should take it to your local nissan dealership to have a look to make sure the sensor is not faulty.
It is a pain that you cannot use your cruise control when that indicator comes on, so you will have to keep an eye on it to make sure its not malfunctioning. If its happening during any inclement weather or poor road conditions, it will go off however.
Bought 1 week ago 2017 Qashqai 93k km. Two days ago Unavailable Front Radar Obstruction Warning.. etc... Goes on, goes off. (now driven 500 km after bying) Yes there is snowy weather in Finland atm. Called Nissan service.. They say sometimes when they wash engineroom when selling car, this happens.. Well. Seller did not wash engine room. And I thought Nissan is a good allweather car (especially Winter car) since there is 4x4. But now I read there are problems in everyweather, every time of the day.. Maybe Nissan should replace badly designed stuff with functional and call cars to service to change what will work. I have front braking security, lane watching, parking radar.. and not working. Should It be like lottery when things work or dasboard like christmas tree with flashing lights ? This does not give very quality picture of Nissan. And do not get me wrong... I like Nissan and my car.. on every other aspect.
Your Local Nissan Dealership should be able to tell if this is a sensor problem and needs updating or replacing. There is a technical service bulletin for cars for the Canadian Market, I cant really comment about Finland. For the most part, we dont really have issues with our safety shield technology, and you should get this looked at. Best wishes.
It sounds like you must be an honest competent dealership. Mine wasn't . I bought a certified used 2018 Rogue. The warning light came on as I drove the car home after I bought it. I took it in 4 or 5 times to get it fixed, but the problem kept coming back. I tried 2 different dealerships. One told me it had been in an accident and fixing it would not be covered under my extended warranty. It would cost $2000 to fix. I took it back to the place I bought it. They told me it had not been in an accident. They said, once again, that they had fixed it. The light came back on after a few hundred miles. I figured out just rebooting the car makes the error go away for a time. I think that is what they did. I thought it about it, and eventually I tried cleaning both the sensor and the emblem on the front. The problem went away for the winter. It just came back. I tried cleaning, the error did not go away this time. I don't know why both of the dealerships I took it to, did not let me know that cleaning the sensor could solve the problem. It is really nice of you to let people know about this problem. I'm going to see if I can clean the back of the emblem too. If it does not fix it, I am going to put myself at the mercy of another dealership. The local one is under new ownership. I hope they are competent and honest. Sorry for the rant, but staring at an error message for years is frustrating.
Hi Craig, sorry you had to endure some runaround. The service advisor should have checked the cleanliness of the sensor. If your sensor is clean, and the error is error is still happening, then you might need to replace your sensor. I dont know how much longer you might have on your warranty as its a 2018, but I would get into your dealership as soon as you can for them to see if its under warranty. Best wishes.
Is it coming on when its normal driving without any potential obstruction like mud or snow? If it is, you should get it checked out for a faulty sensor. Otherwise it should just send you a warning when there is a legitimate reason (ie snow, heavy rain, mud)
Thank you for your comment, but just like any other sensor, it has to be able to function properly without obstruction. Just like a camera on a phone, if your finger is over the lens, it will not take a very good picture :P
@@MrFahimself It depends on the model, but if your model has a glass cover by the Nissan logo located on the front of the car, its located there. If not there, its located inside of the front bumper. Most late model cars have them located inside the Nissan logo behind the glass.
Ours has not stopped for 4 days now. The weather is no longer inclimate, i cleaned the entire front grill. Someone please tell me where this sensor is so i can clean it off. We have a brand new Nissan Kicks and we can't use our cruise control and have a 15 hour drive tomorrow. Help please
Sorry of the late reply. Did you try taking the car though a car wash? Depending on which model you have, it could be behind the logo on the front grill (if there is a glass covering the logo) or it could be hidden inside of your bumper (you have to bend down). I hope you got your car working in time for your long trip.
@Sherway Nissan it is ok. I had tried a car wash before i made this post with no effect. However the next day, the temperature finally got out of the single digits and it started working again. So there must have still been ice covering it.
hi Jose, im sorry, im not quite understanding your issue. Are you saying that this light is always on? If that is the case, you should get it check out by your local nissan dealership. There might be a faulty sensor.
it could be because your sensor is dirty from dust or mud. try getting a car wash to see if that fixes it, otherwise you should get it check out by your local nissan dealership in Florida. It might be a faulty sensor.
He said not to worry? I have a 2018 Murano and since day one the light is been on and off. Took it more than once to the dealer and lights still coming on. Now, of course I have to worry. Specially if its time for Inspection. If any light on the dash IS ON... your car WILL NOT pass inspection !!!
The dealer should have been able to find out if the sensor needed to be reprogrammed or replaced. If its still happening, then I would take it do another dealership to get a second opinion.
Mine started doing it, then i realized it happened typically around sunset, the sun maybe too bright and causing some sort of interference with the radar or the camera.
I have a 2018 Altima and notification come on today. Nothing is obstructing the sensor. It appears this is a common issue. Hopefully Nissan decides to fix this.
Its not really an issue on the 2018 Altima. I would check with your local Nissan dealership to see if there is a technical service bulletin (TSB) regarding any sensor updates.
I have the 2018 Nissan Altima SL and i work at a nissan dealership. The majority of the cars get this fault. Bringing into the shop this week to get it fixed (hopefully).
Hi Tonisha, If you are getting a light at 50 mph then you might have to get your sensor recalibrated. Have you had any front end paint work done? There might be some paint overspray that might be affecting the sensor. If your front is shaking at speeds past 50 miles per hour, you might want to get your tires checked and or your wheel alignment and balance checked.
It could be because of external elements like dust or previous days driving through rain? If it continues, you should goto your local nissan dealership to get it checked out for a faulty sensor. Best wishes.
The sensor could have some residual dust on it? Try going through a car wash to see if that helps. If not, you might have to get it checked out for a faulty sensor. Hope this helps.
Thanks somebody finally explained it. 5 stars for a dealership that takes the time to explain it.
Hi USNR, thank you for your feedback and support. We really appreciate it!
What does it mean
My car does it several times a day independent of weather and traffic. It is a known defect that Nissan doesn't want to fix.
That's ridiculous. Inclement weather is when you need these safety features. You should be able to rely on it at ALL TIMES. This should be a recall.
Hi, thanks for addressing this issue. My problem is a bit different. My front driver side camera beeps whenever I am too close to anything, but also at a stop sign when someone is in front of me and when I back out of the garage. The front panel lights ups in red. Could there be a technical issue with my camera?
Thanks so much this was very helpful!
You are very welcome.
Thanks for explaining this because my car is fairly new. I'm like what does this mean? My light came on in the summer and went back off but I will inform the dealership next time I go.
We are glad we could help explain
Thank you for your input!
@@SherwayNissan Thanks!!!

Thank you so much. I just purchased my 2020 Murano yesterday and I saw this light come on and I was like what?!?. I'm still going to take it to the dealers.
For peace of mind you should get it checked out if the light stays on. Otherwise, it should come off if the sensor is clean. Hope this helps.
What do “short, med, long” in the rear sonar distance setting mean? Does “long” mean it detects objects further away? Etc...
Are you serious? You are telling me to drive my car only when the weather is good or else I am not protected by the aeb system, which I have paid for?
Like I said in the previous comments, this is a sensor that needs to be clear of obstruction. That is like saying, "What I cant use my camera phone" when your lens is dirty.
@@SherwayNissan Yes, I agree you also must have your windshield clean, that's why people invented wipers😉
Is it possible to off it so no light comes out on dashboard?
We got this warning. It's a beautiful sunny day. Hubby said it came on b4 and went off. We turned the car off and cranked it back up and it went off again. Is it bad wiring or something?

Yes, the Cruise control will stop functioning if your Forward Driving Aid is not functioning properly. Did you purposely disable the Forward Driving Aid? Try going into the Menu and scrolling through the options to turn it back on. Try that and see if the cruise control will start working again.

I just pulled over in the midst of the snow to make sure. Just got my 2019 Nissan Sentra 😅

We have a 2018 Pathfinder. The Forward Warning constantly goes off that we are unable to use cruise control. Nissan said in Feb 2020 that they found "no codes stored" and were "unable to duplicate customers concern". Since then it has rarely functioned properly.
You should go in to the dealership when the problem happens, it will be easier for them to find the issue.

Hi
I have Nissan Altima 2019 SV model.
There are two types of message are coming frequently
1. System Fault
I just purchased a 2019 Nissan Rouge SV
What if the warning light is flashing on a rainy day? Same meaning as the light staying illuminated?
Hi David, if its flashing it means that its not recognizing the sensor at that time. If its staying illuminated it means that there might be an issue with the sensor and that you should get it checked out by a Nissan dealership. Hope this helps.
I purchased a brand new 2020 Nissan Sentra SR. And mine turned off while heavy rain. Is that even normal? After the weather cleared it never turned back on. I had to pull over and turn off and on the car for it to work again.
depending on the weather conditions, but you really should visit your local nissan dealer to get it checked out.
I live in an area that doesn't get any snow and this is happening, what do I do?
you should goto your local nissan dealership to get it checked out.
Nissan Sentra beepin while driving? How to fix comes on soon as vehicle is started
Can you tell me more? im not quite sure what you are describing? what year is your car?
I have a 2021 Sentra and the forward collision failure warning light has been in today. I cleaned the emblem. Could a sensor be somewhere else?

Yes, you should get this checked out by your local Nissan Dealership. This will affect the way your cruse control works. Yes, it is a safety feature to disengage the cruise control when your sensor is obstructed by snow and heavy rain.

The sensor can be dirty from excess dust, and you should try to get the car washed to see if this works or not. Otherwise you sensor could be faulty and you should get this looked at.
I have the warning light on but not sure how to clean the forward emergency breaking system as it still comes up even when the weather was good.
Did you try going through a car wash. If it doesnt turn off then you should goto your local Nissan dealership to get it check out as it could be a faulty sensor.
@SherwayNissan the sensor is hidden behind the logo so not sure that could be the issue.
please how to stop a warning emergncy breaking.
my micra tell me that detector radar not working.
What about the malfunction warning? I haven’t even had my car for a month and it popped up two days in a row and now the engine light is on.
This seems to be the most common reason for that light to come on on a new vehicle.
what about when it stops working in July?
If you get the warning signal and it doesnt turn off, you should get it check out from you local Nissan dealership.
sooooo, how do you un-obstruct it? Seems like cleaning off the snow or bugs might be a more useful tip
Good question, yes, you can just clean it off but more often than not, the snow will melt off and your sensor will just start working again. There is no use in always cleaning off the sensor during the winter, as you will have to pull over all the time to clean it off if its snowing heavily.
@@SherwayNissan where is the sensor located?
@@amyberg9027 The sensor is either located behind the Nissan Logo in the front bumper (if there is glass there) or behind the bumper (you would have to go on your hands and knees and look under the car to see it. It all depends on what year and what model you have.
Where is the sensor? In front of the rear view mirror or on the bumper?
The sensor can be found behind the logo if you have a glass cover in front of the logo, or underneath the bumper (on some models). The camera behind the rear view mirror is for your ProPilot function.
But mine activates when its sunny outside....was recently in a front end Collison and is repaired but still comes on
You might have an issue with the front end collision repair. You should goto your local Nissan Dealership to have it looked at.
@@SherwayNissan thanks for the heads up!!!
My mom has a 2020 rogue, less than 1k miles on it & that light goes off in all weather, with no obstruction. Shes sad, it was her first brand new car and shes already having issues
I would have your mom get it checked out at your local Nissan Dealership as its still under warranty. It might be just a reprogramming of the sensors.
@@SherwayNissan Thank you. I will try that
where is the sensor located to try keep area clean?
Depending on the model, it could either be behind the bumper, under the bumper, but more commonly placed behind the Nissan logo in the front of the car (but only if there is glass in front of the Nissan Logo).
I have the same issue with poring down train this morning this message "Unavailable Front Radar Obstruction - " came on my 2017 Nissan Max
So depending on the road conditions (ie. muddy conditions), this might affect your Front Radar sensor. If the issue doesn't correct its self after it dries out, you might want to go and visit your local nissan dealership.
Yeah where is the sensor how do I clean it or change it because now it's stuck on?
Depending on the vehicle, the sensor could be inside the bumper or behind the nissan logo (if there is a glass covering on it).
Hi ther today today in my car reading
45 c and this problem appeared with me.
How u describe it.
Are you saying it was 45 degrees Celsius?
I dont know if temperature has anything to do with the Front Radar Obstruction Warning, but I would goto your local Nissan Dealership to get it looked at.
@@SherwayNissan i live in iraq. I bought rogue this week and after 2 days it warned me. There arentany nissan branch in my city
Hi, just came across this video. If it is possible to just shut that colliding option off and keep using the normal cruise ?
It is possible to shut off this option, but it will disengage your cruise control. Its all part of Nissan's safety shield standards.
@@jayyoo oh so means we can't really use just the curise control right? Because in my car there is some issue I guess that it always shows unavailable radar obstruction after I drive it for like 5 10mins.
@@user-yi4yo5zn9s you should get that checked out from your local nissan dealership then. Before you do, go through a car wash to make sure the sensor isnt dirty.
@@SherwayNissan thank you for the help really appreciate that
My warning light stays on and now the ABS light has come on.
Mine shows malfunction?? Is it the same or something I need to ask the dealership to fix
I had to replace the front bumper and think it may be blocked we’re is the sensor on 2019 Nissan Rogue. Ty
I would go back to the shop that replaced your bumper to make sure there is no obstruction. Hope it works out for you.
I hit side walk since then it's not working unavailable front radar obstruction could you help ?
Hi Taj, without seeing the damage or the extent of the damage you caused when you hit the sidewalk, you will have to get it check out by a certified nissan dealership. I dont know how the sidewalk would have interacted with your car? The sensor is on the front, so its impossible for me to comment. Sorry.
What if it comes on and it hasn’t been any bad weather the vehicle just purchased
@@SherwayNissan I just purchased the car
@@gamerloayza3047 a newly purchased car could still have a dirty sensor. If you have any concerns, you should go back to where you bought it and have them take a look at it.
Ok I have a 2020 Nissan altima and my cruise control stops when the indicator light on dash comes on...how do I prevent the radar issue from happening
The indicater light will go off after car has been of For short period of time
Unfortunately you cannot prevent it from coming on as if the sensor is obstructed in anyway.
How about showing where the camera is to clean it off?
How can I clear this warning from coming up all the time?
Is it coming on when its normal driving without any potential obstruction like mud or snow? If it is, you should get it checked out for a faulty sensor. Otherwise it should just send you a warning when there is a legitimate reason (ie snow, heavy rain, mud)
Now that a nice feature ..... a safety system not working in bad weather.
Thank you for your comment, but just like any other sensor, it has to be able to function properly without obstruction. Just like a camera on a phone, if your finger is over the lens, it will not take a very good picture :P
@@SherwayNissan Where is the sensor located so it can be cleaned?

My light is on but I live in Florida am there is not extreme conditions
it could be because your sensor is dirty from dust or mud. try getting a car wash to see if that fixes it, otherwise you should get it check out by your local nissan dealership in Florida.
Mine started doing it, then i realized it happened typically around sunset, the sun maybe too bright and causing some sort of interference with the radar or the camera.
are you typically driving into the sunset when you receive the message?
I have a 2018 Altima and notification come on today. Nothing is obstructing the sensor. It appears this is a common issue. Hopefully Nissan decides to fix this.
Its not really an issue on the 2018 Altima. I would check with your local Nissan dealership to see if there is a technical service bulletin (TSB) regarding any sensor updates.

I just got a 2016 Nissan Maxima and this happens when i hit pass 50 mph. It also makes the front shake.

@@tonishasmith788 for the shaking? It could be. Maybe the wheel wasnt balanced correctly? Or the wheel is the wrong size?
