    Our Recommended Cabin Gear
OREI American to European Plug Adapters-So many cruise ships are equipped with 220 European plugs which are useless unless you have the right adapter. These are what are in our bags every time we cruise or travel to Europe. They come in an affordable six pack which you can find at this link: amzn.to/44ixS0U
Strongman Tools Strong Magnetic Hooks-A couple of these 6- pack set of hooks are always with us when we cruise. Each individual hook can hold 30lbs of weight and is ideal for hanging coats, hats, and even the hangings shelves described below . Get your set of these useful magnetic hooks at this link: amzn.to/3UDrVbJ
Whitmor 5 Section Closet Organizer-Unfortunately, drawer and shelf space is sometimes limited in some cruise cabins. That’s why we always bring at least one of these inexpensive closet organizers which gives us plenty of room for our folded clothes. We’ll usually use a couple of magnetic hooks described above to hang these from the ceiling in the corner of our room. Here’s the link where you can get yours: amzn.to/3w3GvQn
    Our Recommended Camera Gear
DJI Osmo Pocket 3--You’ll usually see Tracey using this in almost all of our videos. Love this wonderful, small and versatile camera. Basic Camera: amzn.to/3UDJJDF Creators Combo: amzn.to/4beP6OP
GoPro Hero12-This is the best action camera we’ve ever used. Whether taking videos on the Zodiacs in Antarctica, snorkeling in Papua New Guinea, or scuba diving in Bonaire, this camera is always in our hands. Find the link to get yours here: amzn.to/3UkTcy1
Peak Design Slide Lite Camera Strap-If you still carry a DSLR or Mirrorless camera like Jan does, this is the perfect strap to use. What is great is that this fully adjustable strap can be configured to be worn across your body, putting the weight of your camera across your back as opposed to your neck. Plus, it offers a bit more security when traveling through high pick-pocket areas. Get your Slide Lite Strap here: amzn.to/3xW6pWR
    Our Recommended Cruise Wear
5.11 Long Sleeve Shirt-This long sleeve shirt is perfect for excursions in cooler climates are perfect for this long sleeve shirt and the multiple, large pockets is the reason why it is Jan’s go-to shirt when flying. Passports and boarding passes fit effortlessly in the breast pocket. Get your 5.11 Long Sleeve shirt here: amzn.to/3ybg5wr
UNibelle Linen Beach Coverup #1-This is one of the two coverups that are always in Tracey’s luggage. Not only is it great for hanging around the pool, but it is also great to put over a tank-top when out and about in port. Get your UNIbelle coverup here: amzn.to/44ngiZu
UNibelle Linen Beach Coverups #2-This is the second coverup that Tracey always has on the ship. Just like the coverup above, it’s great whether by the pool or into the port. Get your UNIbelle coverup here: amzn.to/4a5j8n8

Thank you so much! Of all the Viking CZcamss I’ve seen, yours were the best! Loved how you could “follow the dot” on the ship video. Thanks again!

Amazing! I’m taking my FIRST cruise ever (at 69) around the British Isles in July… and it’s on the Sky… and room 8013! Thanks for showing me EXACTLY what to expect. And while I’m not very proud of the fact that I smoke, another video of yours was the ONLY one I found that showed me where I’ll be going when I have that occasional cigarette. Great videos!

Thanks so very much. You might be interested (if you haven't already watched them) in our ship tour and cruise review that we have also posted. You'll have a great time. A great line and ship to start out with your cruising. (btw--what's nice about the smoking area is that it is generally well shielded from the wind so you'll get to smoke more of your cigarette than the wind will). Have a great cruise! Jan

One more question: because the room is high and a little forward, did you notice much movement when sleeping? I’m bringing Bromine and those behind ear patches (just in case).

Great question. Yes, you will feel a bit more movement precisely due to the reason you stated, but we didn't have what we would consider tough seas on this particular voyage. However, last fall we did a cruise from Scotland-Dublin and the seas around the northern part of Scotland had about 5 meters of surge which even on a large ship could be bothersome for some people (we were on a much smaller vessel so we really felt it). Modern cruise ships all have stabilizers which may take a lot of the of the side-to-side rolling out of the equation--but the ship can also yaw and pitch as well as roll which the stabilizers don't necessarily remedy. But depending upon how the surge/waves are striking the ship you will still have motion (if it is likely to be really bad then you'll start to see barf-bags being put out by the elevators).
We have used the patches before but not Bonine (which is what we think you meant). They are effective. Now, we are NOT doctors, but we recommend cutting and wearing half of a patch. For us (n=2) a full patch gives us very bad cotton mouth. If you are not sure how you will react, put a 1/2 patch on before the ship casts off and have a great cruise.

@@janandtraceytravels Thanks for the tip about half a patch (I will not hold you responsible if I have to up it to a full patch 😆). And glad the smoking area is sheltered. And I will definitely check out the spa. Any tips on the best ways to cover up by the pool or spa, but be able to slip in discreetly? I’m a bit over weight and quite modest. Just thought you might enlighten me to how people dress around the pool and spa. I hope I’m not bothering you with all these specific questions, but you are uniquely in a position to inform!❤️

When walking to and from the pool as well as around the pool, I (Tracey) usually have a beach coverup on. We have added links for the the two that I use in the description of our Viking videos (you'll have to copy and paste the link into your browser--CZcams doesn't allow clickable links anymore in the descriptions).
Both of the pools on the Viking Sky have ladders to get in and out. I simply take off my coverup and walk to the pool and get in. The reality is that no one really cares, especially when you are in the water. Just have a great time!

What you forgot to mention is that you can put your suitcases underneath the bed to create more space. Another thing I like doing to create more space is moving 1 of the chairs in front of the sliding balcony door, and angling the coffee table in between the 2 chairs.
Another thing that you may have not understood is that asking for certain types of alcohols to be placed in your mini fridge in a deluxe veranda or veranda stateroom is an upcharge. The veranda stateroom it is also an upcharge to have the soda's replaced, and it doesn't come with a coffee maker. The higher the room category you get, the more you get included with them.

Great points. We don’t usually mention you can place your suitcases under the bed in our room tours as this has been the case in nearly every room we’ve been in. An exception is one cruise line-think it was Oceana-that won’t fit a large suitcase unless you open it up and slide it under. Maybe we should include this in our tours lest someone be new to cruising.
As for the mini fridge, great catch. We are trying to remember why we had no charges. We did have the Silver Spirit package. Not sure if that was the case. But yes, we totally overlooked that. Thanks for your important notes and for watching!

@@janandtraceytravels The reason I mentioned putting the suitcase under the bed, is because I know there are people on the internet that are new to cruising and wouldn't think about that. My first Viking cruise (which was my first ever cruise), I never thought of doing that, so we stashed our suitcases in a corner, and it made the room more crowded than it needed to be. I saw it mentioned on another Viking vlog after my first cruise, and it made me feel dumb for not thinking about that.
I'm guessing the Silver Spirits package was the reason you didn't have a charge. I probably would have had a charge if I had asked for alcohol in my fridge since we never bought it. I know they won't put alcohol in the veranda or deluxe veranda suites unless you ask for it though.
