- Intervista di Kobe Bryant in Italiano andata in onda su sportitalia l'8/04/07 durante la partita Lakers-Suns. Prima Parte
Translation :
Well, first this is a bit embarrassing for me because I'd started elementary school in
Italy but I speak italian for many years and it was remained on me but few few so I did this
interview in italian and in english...so can you ask me another time the question ?
what's remained on you about the years passed in italy ?
the passion, the passion for the life the passion to play basketball , the thing that you love
to do for the whole life , always the passion. In italy there's the passion for the family , with
the son with the whole important things for you...italy will have always a pieces of my heart
where the lakers can go ?
I don't know depends because we had many injured players during the season , they didn't played or only
20-5 games ,so we didn't played much games all togheter but now we are here and I hope that at the end of
season 'surprise some people' .
what or who miss the lakers to win a championship ?
the things that miss .. we don't miss much , we are very near to be a team taht can win a championship
maybe a player there or here ... but not much
scorer or assistman, how born the choice ?
it's only basketball , I think that when I play I watch only the things that happen during the game. I don't think to score
or to pass the ball , I'm only watching the defense and watch the things that they are doing and if they give me a shot
I shot the ball or if there's an open player , I pass the ball. I don't begin/enter in a game thinking
about to score 50 or 65 points or have 13 assists I don't think that I go only to play the game and reading the defense.
did you have something to avoid bad luck?
(yes..ahahah)
I don't think that's a thing that I do ... eh when I go to throw a free throw I do always that ... I don't know why , I don't
know where it was began , I haven't idea but it's a thing that I need to do every free throw. I have to do at every free throw.
what's the best moment of your career ?
I think the first championship because the first championship it's always more special and..it's the first time...because the first time
will have ever -... very special place in my memory
The relationship with phil jackson it's getting better than he wrote 'Last Season' ?
He did 180°are like it, we talk about all, if it's about the team , the game or also things outside the game , like life,family,son..
we talk about all
will you wear the shirt of the USA team at the Pechino olimpycs ?
Yes, absolutly , and it's a big honour for me to play for the USA team , it's a dream for me I would play also last season
but I couldn't play for my knee but this summer I hope to play and also for teh olympics ... I'm ready
Which player did you vote for the MVP this season ?
It's difficult this year , every years it's always diffficult ...maybe nowitzki bacause dalls had a special season beacuse they
are winning 62-63 games ..it's historic..maybe nowitzki
value and fault of andrea bargnani ?
I like much andrea bargnani because when you have a player tall like him but can shoot from 3 it's more difficult defend on him
he's young he have to improve but I hear that he works hard , like playing basketball...and when you have this 2 things the future
is very bright for him.
who's the opponent that you much respect ?
there's a lot...because the NBA is special because every day you need to be ready because there's the better player of the world so
every team that we meet every night ..I have much respect for them.
Who's the best player you ever seen ?
Well...directly I'd seen much players Jordan, Magic Johnson Larry Bird...on movie I'd seen Wirl Chamberlain Oscar Robertson
Jerry West Bill Russell...well for me the best are Jordan and Magic....(and kobe? ) Nooo I have many years ..thans a lot but
Jordan and Magic are my idols
HI Sportitalia and Hi to all the italian fans - Sport
who's here after hearing of his death? Surreal. He's the reason I started watching the beautiful game. RIP Legend.
jcs951 me!
Me, too! So tragic, both his death and his 13 year-old daughter.
R.I.P.
I am... he's the reason I fell in love with the game too
Everybody... everybody that watches this from here forth is here after hearing his death.
He was a special person.
Full of qualities.
Che sfiga!
Hai amato profondamente l'Italia
e l'Italia non ti dimenticherà! 🇮🇹 ❤️
Speaks better Italian than most of these Italians in New York and New Jersey
Because Italians in New York mostly come from the South. They speak in dialects, not exactly Italian.
Mr. Wolfgang That's also because if you are referring to people born in the State of NY with some Italian ancestries that doesn't make them Italian Americans, as your statement demonstrate. If you were referring to real Italian Americans, so people born and grown up in Italy and then moved to Jersey or Brooklyn etc ... then it's weird as they should be able to fluently speak Italian. Unless they speak in dialect so it's not really Italian.
***** That's totally untrue. Ignorants generally speak exclusively dialects but if a person speaks both the national language and some dialects of their city/region every now and then, is not that big of a deal.
***** I'm sorry man, I forgot to tell you: I'm Italian. I come from Naples and I know how ignorant people behave. The Italian Americans (so people born and grown up in Italy and then moved to the States) generally don't know English that well but indeed know Italian more than well, as it is their native languages, even though they might speak in almost only in dialect and you can feel it when they try to speak English. Italian is the official launguage of Italy and spoken by, I think, the 95% of people or around there but every region and every town/city has their own 'local' language and in some cases it's even more important than the National language. Even I speak Neapolitan sometimes but not because I'm ignorant but because I like it and it's my City's official language. Italy is known for having hundreds of different accents and dialects throughout the country. It's normal that every Italian, other than the official language, speaks their own native dialect. Ignorant people are the ones that can only speak their dialects and not Italian. A lot of people living in America with Spanish/Mexican descent can't speak English that well, so you have a similar problem.
+suerte03211978 hey genius, allow me to inform you that EVERY single region of Italy has it's own dialect from top to bottom. If you visit any city in Italy they speak pure Italian, especially with strangers. Dialect is something you speak in the house or with close friends/family. The only reason why most tri-state area Italians don't speak fluently is because they've been here for generations and have adapted to English, so generations later of course their Italian will naturally be lacking.
His Italian is perfect, he speaks it with almost no accent. Great job, Kobe.
He speaks better Italian than Di Natale, Insigne and Cassano
Cassano speaks utter crap Italian because he's been everywhere in Italy...
+CyranoRenato1966 No, it's not about where you're from... It's about how you've lived your life. Some people care about being articulate, and others don't care and stick to dialect. That goes for any region of Italy, not just the south.
Cassano can't speak Italian because he's Pugliese and ignorant. Insigne and Di Natale are from Napoli so never learnt Italian.
he really speaks a fluent italian and the accent is very cool cause when was a child he grow up in different places in italy with different ways to speak. congrats kobe
Rip brother. Riposa in pace
RIP KOBE Italy 🇮🇹 will always love you.
so proud!! An American that can actually speak a foreign language!!!!
PumpkinMozie he was raised in Italy, dumb dumb.
@Santos Tan He is not from Italy...he is AMERICAN and was born in Philadelpia..His family moved in Italy when he was six years old and he lived in Italy for 8 years because his dad continued to play pro basketball in Italy after retiring in the NBA..when he was 13..they returned in the US..
@Santos Tan ahahaha
Rip Legend.. So proud you shared a piece of your life with us.. Ciao.
Kobe speak like an Italian because he learned it in Italy and he didn't has the American accent. That's very unusual to listen an American talks so good Italian
Kobe, the best Italian basketball player ever!!! :-)
He is not ITALIAN though...he is AMERICAN, he is from Philadelpia,USA...he just lived in ITALY for 8 years because his dad played there..
@@marifebello2684 yh but relax bro..
Such a beautiful language
Italiano è una bella lingua
AdiEdits italiano è una bella lingua....
There should be the article, in Italian we use the article for languages, but good job
È la più bella lingua al mondo
AdiEdits I prefer english because of its fluentness, italian is just way too bulky.
RIP Kobe
It kills me to watch this interview now
Riposa in Pace grande Campione!
Gone to soon Champion!
I've just discovered Kobe can speak Italian, and as an Italian, I'm shocked by how well he can do it! Didn't know he spent sometime in Italy when he was little, at elementary school. My admiration for this person just grew by 200% :)
To those asking how his Italian was: I gotta say that I'm overall impressed but obviously you can tell he doesn't speak Italian on a daily basis and it's not his native language. There were some grammar mistakes and the pronunciation was fairly good, but as I said that's fantastic for an American man.
If I learned Spanish fluently, will I be able to have and understand a conversation with someone who speaks fluent Italian?
SlickWilly Mhm, not at all. From my experience, the two languages sound alike but if you fluently know one, doesn't guarantee you can understand the other. My native language is Italian and I can only catch a few Spanish words, get the sense of them, but just couldn't hold a fluent conversation.
SlickWilly: You wouldn't be able to understand everything, as some words are completely different. But you'll probably get the general meaning. I was actually able to conversate with some spanish people when in vacation in Spain about trivial stuff like soccer matches by talking in our respective languages. And with just the help of one of those small dictionaries for tourists as a reference i was able to substain a more complex conversation with a spanish couple and they even complimented on my spanish, which i never studied at all.
I am native speaker of Spanish and understood 70% of the interview, but also because I studied some Italian too
+Vylkeer Kobe also speaks Spanish. He's a beast!
He speaks Italian better than me!
Perfect Italian with just a little touch of Tuscan and Spanish accent.
Alessandro Marchi Same
Emiliano not Tuscan he growth spent elementary schools in Reggio Emilia
His wife is Latina I believe so that might have influenced a little Spanish twang, he also spoke Spanish.
@@JohnBlasa Doesn't sound Emiliano/Romagnolo.
Rest in peace with your beloved family, Champion.
@@AutomaticUzi E' vero...possiamo parlare italiano siamo di stessa madrelingua!
R.I.P Kobe ♡ you were special.
kobe is a cold dude. wow I'm so impressed
I'm Italian and his Italian is really good! :O
Nobody can control their hands when they are speaking Italian, not even Kobe.
@Nouytre Nji he grew up in Italy, I think it's mostly bc of that
@Nouytre Nji No italians use a lot too and he was brought up there so either ways he would end up using his hands a lot .
@Nouytre Nji well it's a stereotype I can't do much
@Nouytre Nji Yeah if u didnt tell me i would have no clue that its not true, AND I LIVE IN SICILY
as per Peter Griffin, italians use their hands more when they speak!
His italian is outstanding..Bravo
it's an amazing video. good italian, from his years living abroad. forza roma
IDOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Joe Bryant , Kobe's dad, played in Italy from 1984 till 1991 in Rieti, Reggio Calabria, Pistoia and Reggio Emilia
Kobe is amazing
love him speaking Italian!
Amazing! I wish I had half the fluency he has! So much for the myth of the "dumb jock"! Kobe is awesome.
VERY impressive. He only lived in Italy between the ages of 6 and 13 according to wikipedia. To keep it this well after so many years and after so much learning after that and more distractions, etc, is INCREDIBLY impressive. New respect for Kobe right here for this!
He speak perfectly Italian...
+Killa Kush he has good pronunciation, but his italian is far from perfect... He's making tons of grammatical errors while he speaks.
@@corrado of course he makes mistakes, even some italians makes mistakes because italian grammar is insane. But the pronunciation is 99% perfect and it's not easy when your first language is not Neo-Latin.
0:28 "passion for life"
😭😭😭😭😭
R.i.p. Kobe
That's hot... And being Italian myself, I understood it all! So very cool!
I speak Spanish and I could understand so much of this! That makes me happy. (: I want to learn Italian so bad! And... I like Kobe now. I had no idea that he grew up in Italy and all that. Awesome! (:
It's been 12 years, were you able to learn italian?
R.I.P Kobe you were a true inspiration for Italian guys... so disappointed about what happened...
Sick dude. It's amazing to hear someone speak so fluently in two very different languages.
Let's go Kobe! It's great seeing you talking in my language, I'm so proud of it!
His italian is really good...
Who could have thought O.O
***** Yeah, it's easy for kids to learn languages. Around puberty, the brain changes to make it hard to learn languages. Kobe lived in Italy as a kid for many years. I'm impressed that he's remembered so much since he probably didn't speak it for a long time after he moved back to America.
awesome!!!! im taking italian language this semester!!! the best basketball player speaking italian... priceless!
sentirlo parlare in italiano mi fa un effetto stranissimo
Hahaha verissimo
è un grande
so what,he speaks it a bit weird; at least he's fluent...
anche a me.
Evolviti
He speaks it perfectly!
Parla molto bene...complimenti....
RIP Kobe....u was a good guy!
IMPRESSED!!!!!!
a future hall of famer and top 5 all time...and now he can speak Italian...amazing
I just love this man. God bless him always!
RIP Kobe....This stuff breaks my heart 😢😪
yeah, kobe grew up here in italy.. we proud of this!!
Damn him living in Italy for them 7 years really paid off ;
its weird how they say when your a child , you learn foreign languages really easily ;
after the age of 13 the ability to learn another language is harder
Great Kobe! he's speaking a perfect italian
Kobe immortal legend!
waw my goodness, just stunnin, italian gets him more gorgeous...well done, never guess so
this is awesome. thanks for the translation
I just started learning; I can only hope to become as good an Italian speaker as he is!
😣😶LIFE US SO UNFAIR!! R.I.P. LEGEND. R.I.P. GIANNA.
He is amazing! I love him, not because he is a great basketball player (about which I know nothing) but because he is a smart, talented, awesome guy who speaks various languages and can connect with so many people! Even my Italian teacher from Italy says he is amazing! We love you, Kobe!
He's actually pretty good
He lived in Italy. He speaks it fluently.
Damn -He's speaks Italian better than me -and I'm Italian
goofyone42 you’re just saying that stfu
Me too. I'm shook
@@Maverick-re3zp Rude much? That was stated because his Italian is very good. He learned it in Italy while his dad was playing pro basketball. Why so cynical? Or are you just a Kobie hater?
OneSuperfruitNut nooo not at all just cringe that after a tragic death we all start this nostalgic bandwagon of lies. His Italian was good but he admitted many times his Italian was very rusty and could not have complex convos. You can also hear his accent. That’s not taking away from his language abilities - just being honest.
Oops, misspelled Kobe's name!
HE SPEAK PERFECTLY!!!! WITHOUT ACCENT
classic nord italian accent - lombardy)
He spoke so clearly I understood everything he said. He sounds more like a Latino speaking in Italian. Thanks for the great moments kobe. I was lucky enough to be living in los Angeles when they had that incredible winning streak of championships 2000-2003. He and shaq made me feel just like another angelino.
troppo bello vedere kobe che parla in italiana...grande!
He speaks excellent Italian!
Riposa in pace Legend!!!
In Europe almost everyone speaks 2 or 3 or more languages, only in north america are we so impressed when someone knows more than just english, However madd props to Kobe, he speaks excellent Italian.
spettacolo sentirlo in italiano! davvero sensazionale... grande...
I'm almost half fluent in Italian. I could understand what he was saying 😊 I'm happy I'm finally making progress haha
How's your Italian now ? It's been some years since..
RIP Kobe Bryant ❤️
Kobe parla molto meglio dei partecipanti di tutti i reality show italiani! Complimenti Kobe!
Come, Kobe, break it down for us. You're really hip with the Italiano language. I'm loving it don't know what you're saying but it sure sounds good and I'm loving it.
RIP Kobe
Lebron does not come close to the international status that Kobe has.
Because never have a chance to live in another country like Kobe does..growing up he is just a poor boy raised by his single mom..he had to start playing pro basketball after high school to earn..but GLOBALLY, Lebron is the most popular NBA player..check all his social media account..he is the most followed NBA superstar.
amo quest'uomo! quando parla italiano mi mette i brividi!
Bravo Kobe! Non sapevo che tu parla italiano! I didn't know! Fantastico.
the first time I heard kobe talking Italian I was no F@c#ing way, that is cool
Impressive! To be a world class athlete and bilingual.
Trilingual, he speaks Spanish as well.
+Tiiger No. He knows a few words in spanish but he's not fluent.
Memsik No, he used to speak a few words, now he speaks it well. He started learning it after he met his wife, now he answers questions with ease if you've seen recent interviews.
Tiiger Yeah, you're right. It's much better now.
+Memsik no kobe has improved his spanish he us fluent now just check youtube he can speak Spanish.
that's tight.... give Kobe props for still remembering.
I'm learning italian in school and this is a great interview to watch because it's actually stimulating as opposed to the b.s they make us listen to
I can pick up on about %65 of the conversation with my spanish speaking background. Yet cant learn italian. Go figure.
Same thing with me, onlz with Spanish instead of Italian and viceversa
Go practice. no secret
Cesar M. Italian comes so naturally to me I feel like it should’ve been my native language. I understood everything and I barely practice Italian.
Yeap, I'm Mexican and I can understand quite a bit of what he says
now we all need that fucking american that says.... ENGLISH!!!!!! because is the only language that he is able to speak
Hey! I'm American! And I'm fluent in English and Spanish,(Mexican descent) and I'm learning Italian! And yes I do hate the ignorant American that thinks English is the only language in the world. I hear that all the time when I speak Spanish, "this is 'Merica, Speak English!" It's beautiful to know more than one language!
Mario E. Zugasti I agree with you...
+MrAceFab Yep, Americans speak English. That is true. And Mexicans speak Spanish, and Italians speak Italian, and Japanese speak Japanese. What is your point?
MrAceFab ahahhaha i love you man!!
YOU absolutely rock for sharing and translating this. 43 people think JerseyShore kids speak fluent italian
Ci mancherai tanto campione!!
LO PARLA BENE...SE STA QUA SEI MESI LO RIPRENDE A PARLARE BENE
Rip
Kobe is a bad dude!
umile e amabile.
He must not be a terrible Italian speaker. I speak Spanish and I don't know any Italian but I was able to understand almost half of what he was saying (albeit I did rewind a few times).
Kobe's Italian is excellent. Also, his accent is that of a native Italian speaker; there is no hint of an American accent when he speaks Italian. What a delightful surprise to see him speaking so fluently!
It's probably because he learned it as a child. Learning a language before the age of eight makes it far less likely that one will speak it with an accent.
Unbelieveable, he speaks fluent italian with a little bit of northern accent, but still, u can't tell where he's from AAA+
That is so cool...kobe is the best
i didn't understand shit man!!!! hahahaha, but i still love kobe!!!
Curious...Do the Italians Love Kobe as one of their own?
His answer to the first question is simply great!
absolutely perfect!
