Completely aside from how crazy HARD this song goes, can we just appreciate the visualizers for this whole album? Whoever did them is absolutely insane, they look so good it's sick
The visualizers are so sick, as well as the whole album.
They have me fuckin hypnotized!
I wonder if anybody is gonna attempt to add these styles to AI generated art algorithms or nah
It's multiple different artists from what I can tell. Super talented people apparently move in flocks.
Birds of same feather flock together i guess 😄...this is what i call premium content ❤️
The song is literally a genre chimera, parts of different styles mashed together into a chaotic yet not out of place song
100%
So fusion?
Metal trap . So ima call it polyphia lmaooooo
Out of the non-singles, this song is my favourite off the album. This song just has IT for me. Have had this on repeat...ngl took a listen or two to get used to the vocals, but now I’m all over this song
same opinion, same pfp
Same same same
Yeah that's how I felt too, really good song but hard to get over the vocals. They are better if I focus on the instrumentals instead XD
Its about to be a single in 12 minutes .
@@Freekywill yeah, less about the lyrical content and more about the instruments matching the vocal tempo.
This is Scottie's album, and I'm SO here for it.
Tim's style always shines through, but it works so well to compliment Scottie's playing whose adapted a style that is also very much his own, but it's got more of a familiar feel to it.
he did all the solos in this one, the highlight is fully on him, really deserved, also both Clays did an amazing job on their parts, and Tim did a good job harmonising all the riffs
leave it to polyphia to put 20 genre's in one song and make it a bop.
trap flamenco
Trap djent flamenco. Trajentenco? Trajento?
I can tell from first listen this track is my favorite on the album. Absolute 🔥 🔥 🔥
My favourite is The Audacity
Never, ever, underestimate Polyphia..
No you can not
U read my mind. really edgy with a bit of 'flamingo' haha. love it
This one is going to be like how G.O.A.T was when it released. They just hit
Someone said this song sounded like if they combined playing god and look but dont touch, and it that was completely accurate
I had that same thought.
I agree - polyphia is repetitive. But THIS song is good.
@@amadeuszfleryzor767 I don't think they were implying it was repetitive lol. Little bit of projection there.
@@amadeuszfleryzor767 that is the one word I would never use to describe them
I'm using it without aby doubt. Just listen to their Music. If you're not overwhelmed by the big name of the band and the fact that they are so popular in the web, you'll certainly admit it.
Damn, I really love this acoustic/electric combination
This is like the history of polyphia in a single song. I'm here for it.
that's why this song is called "Chimera"
Cool
That’s how the album as a whole is for me. Is that why it’s called RTYWD? Bc it’s like listening to Polyphia’s life flashing right before our ears?!
PLEASE more of this flamenco blended Polyphia style. The best parts of Playing God are here, too.
As someone who have followed them religiously since their first EP, it’s so cool to see them still retaining the early 2010s DJENT/ Prog-metal influences. I can hear references to Meshuggah and Vildjharta on this one.
You can definitely hear the Vildjharta. Like a trap version. I'm here for it.
@@Magdalena8008s its so mf cool isnt it hearing these elements blend like this, vild will probably be releasing more music relatively soon too, and calle who is one of the guitarists for them is working on his own trap beats, they are interesting if you havnt heard them check his insta and yt page
I feel like Bloodbath goes full trap-thall.
@@boykidmanboykidman5420 I never would have thought Calle would make trap beats LOL
obligatory THALL
but yeah, I've been following Polyphia since about 2011 and it's crazy that they used to have blastbeats and shreddy metalcore stuff compared to 2018 when they started doing the trap beat thing. even cooler there's a little bit of Indie stuff thrown in too when they featured Cuco.
Was expecting some screaming, but just get some garbo that ruined the entire progressive take on the song by adding, yet again, more trap beats to a progressing buildup song. Where tf is the roots in that outside the base of the track. Its like they made a 10/10 song and literally shit on it. And i have nothing against hip hop or w.e. but its just silly and feels immature. But ig if it makes them happy / money then wtf am i doin here.
just realized it's a rendition of William Blake's The Red Dragon painting.. multilevel bravo 🔥
Me too I just watched red dragon last night and went wait what
The visualization was definitely inspired by William Blake's "The Great Red Dragon " paintings. Great job!
The muscle-twitching visuals are so trippy but mesmerizing as heck.
I love it when they bust out the classical guitar riffs. And that break at 2:17 is just pure perfection.
People will credit this album one day for being the spark of new age technical instrumental rap.
THOSE SNARES ARE WILDDDD
I've been following Polyphia since MySpace, back when they were super young guys, met them in 2016 in OKC, I'm SOOO stoked to see they're FIIIIINALLY getting where they've deserved to be for SO long! Love you boys!
They just never stopped and focused on getting so good that they became undeniable. This music is unique, beautiful, and interesting. They worked their asses off to get this kind of sound!
say less, this track is gonna be best of the best in the album
Idk man bloodbath was pretty damn good
I think Memento Mori is better
@@ryanlarrabee9811 yea bloodbath solo hit different
truth be told i cant pick, theyre all so damn great.
Who knew heavy acoustic stuff slaps so hard!
Dimman by Vildhjarta is chef's kiss
@@BetterCallThall Thanks so much for the recommendation, what an awesome tune ! And the visuals in the clip, chef's kiss again !
Ah, speaking of heavy acoustic stuff... Check out the solo in Vital Remains - "I Am God", it's a treat!
So many styles in 1 song. It really just amazes me. I don't normally comment on music, but this whole album is blowing me away for so many different reasons and I can't stop. Lol Well done.
It's weird having such musically talented people who tend to stand out from others do their thing, and then having a rapper come in and sound exactly like every other rapper there is
@@c.odubhlaoich2948 you must not be very educated on music if you think that
@@c.odubhlaoich2948 I never commented specifically on the rap portion of the song. I said there are so many things happening in the song that I appreciate all of it being put together. Never seen (or heard lol) anyone else do this. However, I do like rap. Sorry if you don't. It's one of the reasons I really like their style. They manage to incorporate things that wouldn't normally be apart of the genre (whatever genre you want to consider it)such as rap beats. Have you heard of or listened to 'The Most Hated'? Not to mention that's a large part of the reason they're popular, aside from the crazy technical stuff they incorporate.
Is NOBODY going to talk about how this drum groove is one of the best drum grooves ever written?!
THOSE ROLLS 😩😩😩
cos it was written by luke holland. that dude's a beast
@@scythepapa8877 I KNOW i saw the vid and that shit was so good dawg
This sound of this tune is breathtaking. I'd love a purely instrumental version though.
Not gonna lie the vocals sound extremely out of place to me, like they were forced in. "How can we be more relevant to younger listeners these days?" Would really prefer an instrumental.
@@Snypr18 That's not the reason they have vocals on the tracks lmao. Tim Henson is a huge fan of artists in this style and he wanted them on because he likes that music. Where do you think Polyphia's drum style comes from? It's music like that, its not because they want to "appeal to young listeners" lol...
@@Snypr18 I guess it just depends on your taste, I wouldn't listen to an instrumental version of this song, the vocals for me fit perfectly and are what really makes the song special imo
@@Snypr18 L
@@Snypr18 personally i love the melody and how the vocals fit in, i just don't like the typical lyrics they have and it throws me off a lot because i'm just a person who wants to feel at least neutral about the lyrics in the song i'm listening to, unless i know it's something that's supposed to be ironic or anything like that. generally i like this song, since the vocals come in only right in the end, but if there was an instrumental version too i would be glad.
Best song on the album, pure banger, well done guys
is there a version without lil west?
Best song i have ever heard in my life. Period. It gives me the chills every time i listen to it. So intense.
facts
They really just midnight drooped an album. It's 2am and I have to be up by 5.30. Worth it.
I like how the vocal part acts as the guitar solo structurally.
I am continuously fucking mind blown at Tim's compositional skills. I am just baffled at how their songs are so smooth and groovey yet have such insane complexity and polyrythm going on
This whole album is a game changer! The boys really treated us to a whole platter of good vibes and saucy tunes! Definitely worth the wait!
OMG THIS IS HARD AF, guys i'm proud to tell that u are my favorite band, i fucking love your music
i can see scottie perform with the v playing the distortion parts and tim with the tod10n ibanez playing the spanish classical parts
Polyphia is one of the few bands that can convey emotion so brilliantly with nothing more than sheer technical and creative ability. Their music is so unique I actually don’t like a lot of their songs at first and then after listening a few times I fall in love. Audacity was a track I though seemed weird, but it’s just because I’ve never heard anything like it. The entire album is amazing. My favorites are chimera, bloodbath, and audacity. Congrats to the band on the release and try not to make us wait so long for new content.
All the vizualizers are amazing but this is my favorite by far, the organic distorded motions give such an odd uncanny feel, absolutely love it.
The first half of this song is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard 🤯
This is a contender for the best track of the album 🔥🔥🔥
it's not a contender it is undisputed best, this song slaps
YES the heavy sounds. Not my style of vocals though, but I think it works well. However, I would still LOVE to have an instrumental version of the song as well.
If you bought the limited edition CDs, it comes with full instrumental versions of all the albums vocal tracks.
I like it
Yeah the rap that sounds like every other rapper kills this song for me
Tbh I wanted more vocals in this track.
This song is like nothing I've heard before. Absolutely amazing, favourite one from the album.
I love how they kind of bring back their metal roots and combine them so effectively with this new age rap style sound, the whole album is like this, truly next level!
This is what happens when 4 virtuosos come together and everyone has a say in the album.
Freaking astonishing!
100%
Boutta be bopping this in the gym gotta get gains like that demon
FINALLY! A Polyphia song I can actually kill it at karaoke 😂
best song of the album along with Reverie imo. Chimera does a wonderful job of showing off the styles they've picked up over the years and masterfully blends them together in a way where you can clearly tell where each one ends and the next begins but it still manages to connect perfectly and sound great. Truly deserving of the name Chimera. Honestly it gets better each time you listen to it.
dude i am ascending to heaven while listening to this album
I'm so torn between this and "Reverie" for favourite track. Tomorrow I'll probably be vacillating between two different tracks. These are the BEST dilemmas. Thank y'all so much for this album.
Now this is what I was looking for with vocals on the album, one of my favorite Polyphia tracks to date
I still have new levels and new devils on repeat. How are you guys able to put out such masterpieces so quickly?!
it took 3 and a half years for this i wouldnt say quickly
Bro didn't just say quickly lmao
Its been nearly 4 years guy
Favourite song of the album so far, I'm truly happy for everything you have accomplished guys
This song makes me think of a conversation between a man and a woman.. The softness of the woman with the first guitar and the heaviness and authority of the man with the second.. It may be a personal interpretation but it do i feel
God I love that nylon riff so much
Everyone lovin this song too much. The whole album is a gift to humanity
my absolute favourite album of all time
I'm so happy to finally hear the rest of this album!!
0:39 to 1:00 is sooo insane i love it
best song on the album imo
Tim back on the nylon love it. Crazy idea. Tim and Scott back on nylon and Clay on a double bass. Downsize the kick drum a smidge…then see what these geniuses come up with…
This is hands down the best tune on the record (imo). The production is super crisp so maybe this ones got a video in the works
sounds much better than it did in the leak, this shit slaps
Chimera is my favorite song. There's something that's solid in this song
Like bro, this touches my soul.
OMG!! Finally!! Congrats for 1M Subscribers guys!!! 🔥
There is so many good songs on this album that i cant decide which one is better 🔥🔥🔥
It's not often that i get goosebumps from listening to music but this song made it happen.
This is the best on the album imo
What an incredible album, all the effort that has went into every aspect of it's production has payed off. Thank you Polyphia for releasing.
Best song in the album. This guys work is absolutely impressive.
This is the best track of the album in my opinion.I love guitar work, dark synth, beat.Everthing is perfect.
The vibe is everything to me. I need stuff like this and not ABC/Neurotica
Chimera seems to be like a mish mash of everything that polyphia can do. The acoustic stuff for the intro, the overdriven tone for some of the solos and then the vocals.
Each song is so beautiful ! All of you are so talented!!!🔥
I really like the "ugh" sound from G.O.A.T
Incredible job on the visuals!!
Man, this new song is dope! The visual part of the video fits perfectly with the song) It's cool that Polyphia have chosen William Blake's "Red Dragon" as a clip inspiration.
The down tuned bends near the beggining remind me of a Textures song from years ago.
The album is impressive; it’s like everything they make is gold. PLEASE COME T0 ATHENS, GEORGIA!
0:17 idk what it is about this part but it felt like my brain was vibrating I LOVE IT
Good lord everything they do is just nuclear fire. I seriously stumbled across "Playing God" having never even heard of Polphia and just can't bring myself to listen to anything else. Everything they do is my absolute favorite thing in that moment. I can't find anything by these guys that isn't an instant classic for me. It took all of 45 Seconds to realize that want to be at as many shows as I can, buy their merch and spread this music to everyone who'll give it a listen. Instant Life-Long fan.
I passed this song so many times out of fear. I regret doing that, but I'm grateful to be hearing it now. Remember strings? Yeah i just assume I pissed you guys off. I piss a lot of people off, though that's never my intention. i digress. I'm trying to say that I appreciate this song on a personal level, regardless of where your inspiration came from. You're still my favorite guitarists right next to buckethead.
The visualisers are sick on this album. Really wish they would sell them as screensavers on there website
Ugh these visuals are just so 😩❤️
Killer job guys definitely not regretting buying the vinyl. Album of the year!!
best and most diverse song in the album, fucking banger guys
Instantaneously became my favorite polyphia song after I heard it one time. Since then I've listened at least 10 and it still goes just as hard.
Always love it when they do something melodic and song-like.
And nice that there's a glimpse of latin acoustic yet again.
This and Bloodbath are my favorite tracks. Both of them absolutely FUCK
we wait so long for this album!! you did it again guys, and all i have to say is congrats, you're amazing!!
Anytime your in my state im coming to the show. just got the vinyl, so smooth... peace.
this one hits different. love it
These visualizers make me feel like I'm on one helluva acid trip and loving every second of it
The bass!! 🤟🏼😮
instrumental when?
Yessss was waiting for more look but don’t touch style 7 or 8 string riffs
chimera • \kye-MEER-uh\ • noun. 1 : an imaginary monster compounded of incongruous parts 2 : an illusion or fabrication of the mind; especially : an unrealizable dream
heh, fitting.
This is what i thought we were gonna see in the Will Ramos's throat cam
William Blake's Great Red Dragon is quite proud of you fellers.
Definitely my favorite of the songs that weren't released as singles before the album dropped. The one with Chino is a close 2nd.
RTYWD Haters are like: I miss the old Polyphia stuff, because older means better, and they were heavier, wich means they were better because heavier means better, and they use to shred so much more, so they were better, because shredding it's just playing fast, and playing fast makes you more talented, so makes you better.
Clay we need a drum playthrough of this song!
Probably my fav track from the new album! This one ticked all the boxes.
3:20 - 3:26 the guitar in that part is fucking fire
Absolutely killed it on this track!
this is so sick. the visuals are like watching Griffith being reincarnated into Femto
This is track has everything from the album in one place
The video concept has to be inspired by the William Blake (British, 1757-1827) paintingThe Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed with the Sun
I can't decide what's the best track coz all of em is legit
fr 😭😭
