Man Scottie straight up killed it on this album all his guitar parts are killer

The distorted tone sounds horrible though, in all songs. Dunno how it went through.

Well THATS something I didn't know I needed u til now
I remember when polyphia was just a small band no one really knew and seeing them at a small show here in Texas forever ago but it's so awesome to see how much they progress I love y'all!!🤍
Every band needs to start somewhere. I do agree with you though. It's really cool to see a band just starting out to gain a large following and be successful.
Completely agree! Watched them for the first time in the UK alongside Intervals in a small rock bar. Now they’re playing an O2 venue next year which I’ve bought tickets to!
No you don’t, quit cappin’
Kinda miss the old style with all legit instruments and no trapbeats. But this is what sells I guess
@@DingleDut It's what they want to do artistically. They haven't "sold out" in any sense of the word. Their sound is still authentically Polyphia, it's just that they've pivoted away from the djenty prog sound they had in the days of their debut EP
Clay is just a madman on those drums. Such tight intervals for those fills and he just hits the damn mark with every strike.
I gotta say tho, live is a different story. You definitely hear the flaws clearly. That being said, it’s extremely difficult to play regardless.
When Scotty is like "But...let me play metal!"
God damn. When Tim said on the podcast that he's just waiting on Scott to finish the rest of his parts I didn't expect them to hit so hard

lol Yeah they literally did a feature with a trumpet player on their song Genesis lol and a weird jazz fusion song with a music producer/keyboard player/DJ on their song The Audacity.
polyphia takes a lot of influence from hiphop
Literally one of the most important bands of our time. LONG LIVE POLYPHIA!
This album feels like a final chapter almost. The old polyphia's almost djent sound combined with the newer catchy riffs based on rap music with a rapper as feature. These guys just keep on giving
The riffs don't sound new to me, they're very flamenco based.
@@holliswilliams8426 i think they mean new in terms of polyphia history
These guys are one major hit away from changing the way rap and rock can blend forever, I can feel it. Maybe that's what they mean by Chimera? A blend of two creatures, two genres.
Edit: My zoomer ass offended some boomers/ older millennials with my wording. I know this has already been done to some degree. What I MEANT is that this brand of Math Rock has never been so mainstream and I would love to see them get popular enough to infect MODERN rap/trap, since it all sounds the same. Imagine an Eminem or Drake song with them backing it!
There are 3 genres in the song: classical/flamenco, rock/metal, and rap.
ahhh never thought about it that way!
@@chrisboccia chimera is a mix of 3 animals
@@carinae2035 Not strictly. A chimera is a blend of 2 or more species. In Greek mythology, a chimera is a combination of a lion, a goat, and a snake (which happens to be 3).
We used to call it fusion at a time but yeah this track brings the genre to another level
I like how polyphia stands in this song as the main figure, and the rapping from lil west is as how one places vinegar in food. It's just enough to give it that contrasting taste
This was very well played
Beautiful and very thought provoking comparison "lil west is as how one places vinegar in food". Love that line even if his verse or feature isn't everyone's cup of tea.
Nah. The rapping sucks, it doesn't belong. Then again, it's not my music and they can obviously do whatever they want. I'm just saying that's when I turn this song off.
W est not one of tha street niggaz!
I don't know about the rapping part. I like it, but it sounds like an afterthought within the context of the song, and I kinda feel bad for Lil West. I feel the same about Look But Don't Touch and its feature, Lewis Grant.
It's my favorite part of the song. Especially when he's singing. It goes well with the guitar playing.
Polyphia, you're changing the meta of how guitars are played. About time someone did🗿

@@Hillslayer What makes it electronic? Also, most rock/rap singers have been autotuned since like 2000-2005. Not all of it is immediately noticable. So, yeah, the cadence and the delivery of the vocals make the verse really cool, especially the mix too.
Scott went beast mode on this album. Love it
This on paper would have looked weird, reality this one of the dopest songs I’ve heard for a while.

Probably my favorite track on the album, that opening riff is addictive as hell and the metal meets hip hop vibe comes together so cleanly.
One thing I love about this band is the fact that they're very consistent. A major issue I've had with metal bands over the years is inconsistency and poor social media presence

Um no. Is it very skilled playing? Yes. However as someone who is 42 and listened to all sorts of bands and different styles drumming and guitars I can guarantee that you have never heard certain bands. First of all when you get about 6 minutes in to Pantera's studio version of domination, that is something that you have to turn up consistently every time that Riff starts. Then you have bands like morgion. And cradle of filth. And you absolutely cannot discount Fear Factory the remanufacture album when it comes to bass because that shit what blow you away. And you have bands like satyricon. I can go on and on. And I am not saying these things as though I'm coming down on you or anyone that enjoys this because it was good however broaden your horizons because it's all been done before many many times and a lot of people never go back and look at what started these bands. A lot of people go back and look and find other bands that they think are even more incredible than the one they previously adored. Expand your horizons

Polyphia, not only making Guitars relevant again but re-inventing the art of shredding.
I'm confused about what in what they do is re-invention, most of it is either djent or sounds very flamenco based.
@@holliswilliams8426 You could argue the same for early shredders, that they just combined Neo-classical elements into Rock and started playing faster. I'm just happy that Polyphia 'shreds' in a genre fluid manner without focusing too much on labels and their norms.

Never once did anyone even 3 years ago think that one day artists would be mixing 8 string djent, prog, jazz, some flamenco, and modern rap together.
My ears are blessed as well as my eyes. Polyphia is my top #1 group riding into 2023.
Damn this is great. The contrast in Scotts and Tims sound is awesome and I really dig Scotts parts. And both drums and bass are unbelieveble... the timing, the attack, the power... what a foundation for the guitar players.
The shredding guitars are one hell of a thing for sure, but that MASSIVE Bass and its presence in the mix take this song to an upper level for me, alongisde the godly drums, very rhytmical
