Having struggled with my wifi set-up and internet access it was time to upgrade my system. In this vlog, I talk through how I upgraded my router, external antenna and power cables to improve things. I am glad to say it has been a success, a worthwhile exercise and one I would recommend.

Thank you. Am looking to set up a few web cams on my allotment for my viewers and this video has answered most of the questions I had. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your very informative video, currently trying to come up with a package for my narrowboat.
That was packed with useful information, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! đ
Yes that was very useful thanks who knows one day.
Glad it was helpful! And thanks for the comment. đđ
Excellent vlog! thanks!
Thanks for the kind comment. Glad you found it interesting.
Iâve heard about boaters and people living in remote areas using a set up called Star Link.
I havenât looked into Star Link, but Iâm assuming that itâs quite pricey.
Do you know anything about the Star Link system?
Thanks for the video. Much appreciated.

Star Link is Elton Musk's satellite system apparently it is very good but is pricey, around ÂŁ75 per month I understand, so beyond my budget. You also need a clear view of the sky so moored up under trees along the canal it wouldn't work so well.

Oh thanks for that info, much appreciated.
ÂŁ75 a month đł!!!!
Iâve just come back here to add that apparently Starlink is a total power hog.
So regardless of price, itâs not going to be great for an off grid situation.
I was just watching a video from a sailor crossing the Atlantic and he uses something called âIridium Goâ Iâve never heard of it so Iâll be doing some more reading, (itâs a 12V system)
Anyway, take care of yourself and Iâll see you in the next video đ
Hi Alan. Iâve got one of those Huawei 4G small mobile units which serves me well where I am currently moored & I charge it up with 240v as have got electric hook up. If Iâm out travelling can I plug into a 12v lighter socket to charge đ€đŠđ
Hi Pam. If your Huawei unit is like mine you will be able to charge it via a 12V lighter socket. I am assuming that you use a USB cable to the 240V plug so just connect the USB to a lighter socket. If your Huawei unit came with a permanently wired 240V plug like the one in the vlog it should tell what the output is, if itâs 12V you just need to get a USB cable and your good to go. Hope that helps. đ
@@TheNarrowboatNomad Many thanks, will dig out usb lighter socket thingy from the bottomless drawer full of âusefulâ stuff đđŠđŠđ
