Spent a week there last December in that campsite across from the bathroom that backs up to the bay. No bugs but the temp was cold at night. Lots of horses and few people.

The State park next to the National park has better Showers and Bathrooms etc.

But then would have had to pay to get in there. We were perfectly fine with the cold only showers. It was way too hot outside at the time for hot showers lol

We camped in Assateague in Summer and it was hard, on top of that, those horses will try to get to your food and will attack you, (they like chips and can hear you opening a bag lol)
