Sublime! New Order don’t exist without Hooky.
This is what made Joydivision and new order so distinguished in sound those awesome hooky bass riffs !! Cheers everyone !!
Peter hook is a rock god
We all need to understand it’s him who made this
Just listen to transmission and imagine it’s him who was on top the whole time
Steve Rogers if you haven't read his books you should, real writing about 2 real bands and he is very funny about shit 🙂
@@chrs1968 and his book on the Hacienda . It’s a great read
Awsome, tear inducing brilliance
Hooky is the Neil Peart of bass!!
Two basses shaking my house and my wife is trying to sleep.
Please keep doing these as long as you guys can stand it. Not only is it the closest thing to a live show we're getting for the foreseeable future, but it's also a great resource for learning these songs.
The Legend that is Peter Hook 🙌
I am a massive Joy Division but never saw them live. I did see practically all of my favourites back in the day, U2, Siouxsie, Echo, The Cure etc and indeed New Order in 82 and 83 in Dublin. I thought my JD live experiences were restricted to CZcams and even the Control movie, which was great by the way. So when Peter Hook and The Light played a bizarre gig in Dublin's Leopardstown Racecourse in 2014, I could not believe my luck. There were probably 100 people there, most just having a drink after the evening's race card. I'd guess there 20-30 there specifically to see the band. But Peter Hook and the band never made any sarky comments about the crowd and played it as good as they would any big gig. You can tell he and the band love the music and playing these songs. I loved his vocals too. He sings the songs with real meaning, love and passion. I saw The Light and was in New Wave Nirvana ! Thanks Peter and the band for a great night and one of the best gigs I was ever at. It was a dream come true for this fan I can tell you.
"They keep calling me!" They certainly do. Thanks so much to Hooky and the Light for this. Great Band. Pray for the holy soul of Ian.
Incredible. This is the closest I'll ever get to Joy Division in my lifetime. It sounds incredibly good & there's no better voice/person to be fronting this than Peter. I hope you keep this up for a very, very long time. Thank you Peter & the tight backing band. Salford punk!
Stunning stuff. These sessions really do bring the dullest of Lockdown days alive. Cheers boys. To the time again when we can witness this brilliance live. Not too long, I hope.
I can NEVER get tired of hearing this song
Thanks for all the work you guys are doing and praying for the day the live gigs are able to be performed.
Brilliant - Thank you all and never stop playing JD
This song's bass-line is just so addictive
The only one and right one to be aware of the heritage of Joy Division. Thank you very very much Peter Hook...Stay tuned and love all of our spirit of JD
thank you for giving us this beautiful taste of live music when we are all starving for it! such a great rendition 💜
Seen New Order 65 times live (with Hooky) wouldn't go and see them again. Hooky has brought back to life all the great tracks from Joy Division to New Order. One of my best moments was ' homage' in Poland 2016
The sound of Joy division and New Order. Hook on bass 👌
One of the top 5 most influential musicians in my life: Peter Hook! 🤘🏽🔥🤘🏽🔥
One of my Favourite 49 songs by Joy Division! See yous at Rebellion 2022 ! dx
Peter Hook sings this song well
He is a legend
Excellent, as ever. Random fact 1, my ex swears she saw Peter Hook in Derby, shopping about 14 years ago... and it still comes up in conversation. Random fact 2, After Ian left us, in requiem, I stole all of the blue neon from the roof of the Ajanta Theatre in Derby, which was the venue of the 2nd to last Joy Division gig, ever. I had it in my flat during the 80's, and I still have one piece left, which resides on the wall of the studio. It always reminds me of Ian,, and how difficult it is to shimmy down a drain pipe whist carrying 6 foot long neon tubes, in the rain.
Fun fact 3: Neon gas tubes produce red light. Depending on the gas (and use of phosphors) different colours can be produced. A blue light will likely be argon and mercury. They started cheating and coloured the glass . No blue neon lights.
Met Peter a few times.
A genuinely lovely bloke. Glad he's still doing what he loves. Looking forward to next year's gigs✊🏻👍🏻👌
I love the way Peter Hook plays the bass guitar.
He's the best bassist IMHO.
You guys are absolute legends ! Who could ask for better during the current times...We all appreciate your time and effort in putting this together 🎸🐝
Dead Souls makes this soul feel alive!
Cheers Peter for helping us all through this and reminding us that we live for art such as yours and others .Hoping to dream of a day when we can see you live !!!!
BACK FOR MORE AMAZING HOOKY....LOVE IT.
The sound is amazing. I really REALLY love the fx on Hookys Vocals. It's got that lovely Sizzle!
Best ever Joy Division song for me. Perfect.
The moment I listened to Joy Division, I immediately fell in love with their songs.
Hooky seems to have a better understanding of what made JD/NO great. Compared to Barney who seems to forget everything
Yeah. I don't mind New Order's new stuff but it just sounds so much more safe and unadventurous now.
My favourite track ever of JD ! So lovely, so dark, so powerful, so everything...
Astonishingly good. A few tears here........
My Favourite of all time! Been into em since I was 14 in 1978 ! dx
I could listen for hours that bass.
What a truly majestic song and powerful, heartfelt performance - what you guys have done for your fans during lockdown has been nothing short of inspirational. Thank you.
Fantastic sounding! Rock on!
I will always love this song
Great performance. I love the initial instrumental
They just keep getting better and better. Like a fine wine.
Words cant explain having heard this played........top tune....
That stutter drum bit on 4th beat - nailed it!
Beautiful mixing job! Thanks for the upload, it’s a real boost to the spirits. ✌️🍎🌻
Totally agree. Keep 'em coming Hooky. Hopefully will finally get to see you in Brixton next year!!
This is an unbelievable version
more live recordings please! thank you
More coming tomorrow make sure you are subscribed!
@@PeterHookAndTheLight yes! can't wait - it's like listening to joy division/ NO for the first time again, after 30+ years. Thank you :)
Love the 2 bass intro...and outro is even better...
Now THIS was a great start to this week!! Thanks for sharing! :)
Justice well done to one of JD’s best
Excellent keep the music flowing taking the music of my beloved band to the masses of people not fortunate enough to see jd in there prime only saw them once sat night Oct 79 supporting thebuzzcocks at the apollo peter has always been the heart beat thanks
Spectacular, anthological!
IMHO, Hooky caries the flame of Joy Division and pre-Substance New Order rather than the actual group New Order of today.
I would and have prefer to see The Light than New Order who are more like a covers band.
@Mango Man New Order without Hooky is not New Order, in the same way that Joy Division without Ian Curtis was not Joy Division. If Sumner, Morris and his wife wanted to continue in a band without Peter Hook, they should have come up with a new name instead of pretending to be the same band.
@Mango Man I don't regard New Order as a covers band, someone else said that, but I don't regard them as New Order without Peter Hook being in the band. I understand that Barney and Stephen pretty much took over creative control and wanted to move to a completely electronic sound, while Hooky was constantly fighting to have his bass lines included, to the extent that the others would pretty much record electronic songs then allow Hooky to add a bassline almost as an after thought.
I think the brilliance of New Order was that they combined both elements
You are the most respect bassist in the world ❣️
Made me cry. it's so good!
After hearing the newest New Order release I have to say Hooky's bass lines were essential.
I was starting to wonder if Hooky was gonna sing but the intro to Dead Souls live was always pretty flexible.
Love love the lockdown sessions
One of the best intros in music
Great to hear this re-working. My fave JD track...found on a bootleg years ago...
My personal favorite of Peter Hooks bass melodies is Sound of Music.
Man this is tight. Sounds like a studio version. So good.
They should make a show in Brazil!! 👏
I like seeing them live. He has the passion still. After all these years. Nice 2 minute intro!
just superb, cant wait to see you back on the road
Probably the best playing band Hooky has had......
This has got to be the dumbest comment I have ever read. JD and new order were both so well rounded not to mention Stephen Morris buries this guy on drums.

Great one, thank you guys !!
France is listening💪
See you there in France! May 2021!
Pleasure time. They keep calling me ! Belgium is listening.
See you there! September 2021!
Goosebumps.
This made The Crow soundtrack even better. Awesome tune!!!
If that's where you know this song from, you need to go sit on the naughty step until further notice.
@@blackphoenix8932 Why though? It's a good song and it spreads the word about something the majority of the people watching the video have a mutual appreciation for. Who cares where someone found out about the song as long as they aren't being rude to anyone? Additionally, it was never stated where the OP found out about the song. They could have known the song beforehand and then heard it on the soundtrack.
@@benh.635 You talk too much.
@@blackphoenix8932 my first exposure to Joy Division was through NiNs cover on the Crow soundtrack. From there I progressed to JD, and then onto NO. If it wasn't for NiN and The Crow I very likely wouldn't give two fks about possibly two of the greatest bands ever.
@@its_llew Fair point.
It is a shame that such great bands don't get much exposure in the mainstream.
There are potentially millions of people that would be besotted with these bands, but will never know they even exist.
Just wow!
Awesome! Same Joy Division! Bravissimi!
Hooky please do other classics such as "No Love Lost" and "Failures"
They keep callin me. Damn right they do.
Brilliant as usual, thanks guys!!
how the fuck can't hooky be in new order anymore... that bass. you need to release more music hooky
He quit the band.
Ó meu Deus, que bom ouvir o que de bom se fez e toca!
Hookeys bass was the joy Division...and new order..
I've gotta say the band kick here and the vocals are just spot on ;)
One of the greatest!!
Good to see we've got both kinds of bass on display, rhythm bass and lead bass!
Tengo "Dead Souls" por Joy Division como ringtone. También me gusta la versión de NIN para "The Crow". Gracias!!!
mi ringtone es the stone roses mas Joy Division es un segunda possibilidade.
@@MD-ru5vs I wanna be adored
Another one added to my JamesAnsley youtube playlist!!
No words, is beautiful 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great stuff, brings back lots of memories 👍👍
Great :) One of my first bought albums, the light blue one :)

Saw New Order at the Roskilde Festival (Denmark) on July 1st, 1984 for the first time... Then I saw the band again at the Reading Festival (England) on August 25 th, 1989. The bill was just incredible : Gaye Bikers On Acid, Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine, That Petrol Emotion, Tackhead, The Swans, The Hous eOf Love, The Sugarcubes (with Bjork) and New Order was the last band to play... I still remember it as it was yesterday! On May 4th, 2019, I saw Peter Hook And The Light at the Montpellier Rockstore (France). The band played 14 New Order Tracks, and after a short break they continued with 14 Joy Division songs... I was a bit annoyed with Peter Hook's voice on certain New Order tracks, but anyway it was a great concert... They were supposed to play in Aix-en-Provence this autumn but the concert has been scheluded for 2021... Hope it will happen then !!!
Jeez... if you were annoyed by Peter Hook's vocals just don't go to a New Order gig, Bernard's 'singing' will drive you to murder.
@@lioii Well, Peter Hook has improved for sure during the years ! I have no intention to see New Order witout Peter Hook, and I'd rather keep the good memories instead of being surely disappointed !
🎸🎙🎶🎶🎶🎶..... sweet
PETER PERFECT.
Fking brilliant. Can't wait to see you all in Leeds 2022!!!
Thank you, gents! Saving my life with these songs! Cant wait to see you in person again. ❤️🔥
