    I used to be really into car audio back in the 90's and soundstream was my go-to for my amps and subwoofers. I recently got back into car audio and after doing some research I see that soundstream was bought out by Epsilon. With that being said people were really saying how bad soundstream is now. But after using my TXP1.3500D I'd say it's one of the better amps in the price range that puts out the power and it's super small. So glad it has a clipping light which makes tuning it way easier.

      Soundstream was top quality back in the day for sure. But they still make some decent stuff. People in car audio like to bash brands but truth is MOST ALL brands these days have good stuff and some NOT so good stuff and this is because there are different level of consumers. Trick is just knowing which stuff is good. And to be honest most all car audio comes from the same few build houses. The Soundstream TXP amps are one of the best watt per dollars amps out there. They put out RMS what they say on the box and quality is xlnt for a fullbridge design. I have had all the MONO models in the series and never had a complaint. We live in a car audio era where the newer trendy brand audio guys are really brand loyal and closed minded to anything else. And most talk about Products they have never even owned, or tested ;)

      @@HiFiVector definitely seeing that as well. I'm definitely a fanboy of soundstream in a sense but not to the point where I'll buy them even if they're a bad brand or let if the brand has let me down. Overall I say I'm more interested in value these days.

    And after looking at the videos again it looks to me like the Gladiator is almost identical to the Skar Svr! Almost identical from a visual aspect. Same basket, same magnet, surround and also the the mounting ring! Looks more like the Svr than the R3, at least the 8 inch.I can’t find any specs for the Gladiator recommended enclosure.

    • @HiFiVector
      @HiFiVector  Před rokem

      Gladiator sounds closer to an R3 than the SVR. I prefer the R3 over the SvR and of the 3 the gladiator is best.

    • @HiFiVector
      @HiFiVector  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! When I have my daily driver amps in it I just use stock electrical. I have 1/0 OFC power. I disconnected the smart alternator sensor to let full alternator voltage flow. My armada package came with a 270 amp alternator factory. But If I am using a large amp over 3k watts and playing test tones or bass music I throw in a 2nd AGM battery. But with my stock I can play 3k fine and my voltage is always at an acceptable level with the music I listen to.

    Hello, I saw your video and it seemed very informative for those who have doubts about the brand, I will build a box with 2 R3.12 subwoofers... 800 RMS each and I am thinking of using them with the SOUNDSTREAM BXT1.7500D amplifier at 2 ohms, I would like some suggestion ...

  • @ErinDinsmore
    @ErinDinsmore Před rokem

    Yeah that makes sense. Always better to have more power on tap. Actually going to be running the r3 10s sealed in the trunk of my Altima. I have Sundown SA 12s in there now running on an old school JBL amp. Been running this amp for 20 years in multiple vehicles and it’s still kickin,, I just want more trunk space these days. This is a daily driver so not looking to win any competitions, just have it sound clean but be able to slam when I’m feeling the need, Also thinking about running two of the txp 3500s, one to each sub. That would give me 1250 each at 1ohm. Although may be safer running the 12000 at 2ohm load? Wonder if the R3 8s would be enough to do what I’m looking for? Concern would be that they would be too punchy with not enough low end in a sealed enclosure? Decisions, decisions!, Lol. So you were running both sets of speaker wires (piggy backing) into the single output terminals on the amp since the boxes were separate correct? That’s the way I was thinking of doing it if running separate enclosures on the txp12000. Love your videos. Very informative and you really explain the details of sound character of the subs so people get a better perspective instead of just how hard they hit like most people. Glad I found your channel and really appreciate your reply’s. You rock my friend!!

    Hey Vector, been checking out your videos on the Soundstream R3 10s and the 6000 amp. Looking to run exact same set up so it was awesome to find your channel! Had Soundstream back in the 90s and they rocked! I love more punchy/musical subs just like you. I will be running two separate boxes like in your video. Are you just piggy backing the wires into the amp since it only has one set of speaker outputs? Wouldn’t that mean the amp is seeing a .5 ohm load, assuming you have the subs wired down to 1ohm? Or do you have the subs wired at 4ohm so the amp is running at 2ohm. Curious how you have it hooked up. Any feedback is appreciated, Have a great day!

    • @HiFiVector
      @HiFiVector  Před rokem +1

      The subs are each wired to 4 ohm so they final at 2 ohm. I has hem ruining on the txp12000. The txp6000 will work but because 2 ohm you will get the most out of them with the txp12000.

  • @ErinDinsmore

    I just saw your video of the American legion gladiators. Seem like those have a little more low end and maybe a little warmer than the r3 but still very tight and musical. Now I’m leaning towards getting 8s and running them in a ported enclosure. I can get the gladiators in dual 2 or dual 4ohm. I can get either r3 or gladiators for the same price. If I get the dual 4 ohm I can wire to 2 ohm and run them to the amp at 1ohm. As where the r3 I’d have to run at 2ohm. If I go gladiator route I could save a little $ and maybe run them with the small txp3500 at 1ohm getting about 625 rms each. The 8s are rated at 400 rms each. Although I know they will take more. But running ported will be more efficient so it may be fine. What do you think since you have experience with both? Again, really appreciate your feedback!

    Wondering if you had tried the rockville k6s yet. I was pretty close to getting the r3 instead but I beat the hell out of my k6 10 for over a year full tilt on a shark 2500 at 1 ohm so I went for them since there really was no supporting info I could find on the r3s at the time

    • @HiFiVector
      @HiFiVector  Před rokem

      Yes The K6 are decent subs for sure. Although I prefer for R3 for a budget sub. But the K6 is a pretty good sounding and performing little sub.

    Did you notice any sound characteristic differences between the r310 vs r312? did one sound punchier louder better etc etc? I wanted to add the r12 to my collection but I'm hesitant because it looks like they kept the motor, VC and parts the same size while increasing cone area which usually ends up in lesser performance. Would love your thoughts on the 10vs12 to your ears :)

    • @HiFiVector
      @HiFiVector  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes the 12 is just as tight as the 10 but just plays louder and deeper. I was afraid of that as well I started out with the R3 10 and loved it’s accuracy and tightness but the 12 kept it all and even got better adding more low end and volume. Also they are very forgiving on box size even though you need technically 2.0 actually even sound good on 1.3 If you do not have the space
