All those cars are beautiful. They look impressive, not old primitive technology. In particular, streamliners look sci-fi even today.
Absolutely
The auto union
What a brutal sound of these cars! Love it
Tbf the sounds would have been added in post.
True, but they sound like the authentic sounds of those cars.@@jekanyika
Finest engineering combined with superior craftsmanship, driven by heroes.
It's soon 90 years old and ooks even for today futuristic. Maybe from an alternative future.
Incredible Auto Union V16 Type C Streamline was made in 1937 and looks like a 2030 car with the speed of a current hypercar.
And no seat belts, lol. Amazing stuff.
@@peekaboo1575the weight of the drivers balls kept them in place
Your comment DEMANDS a like from all who read it.@@jarritos-br6ym
saw a type 1938 type D about a year ago while in berlin
those things look insane in person
the streamliners are some of the most insane looking cars to ever exist
It could go 410 kmh
There was a plan to build an other banked curve on the opposite of the the track called Südkehre for more high speed but then we all now whats coming next in 1939.... today the Avus is just an ordinary highway with a speedlimit of 100km/h nearly 100 years of motoracing and the prototype of the german Autobahn
Playing grand turismo 4 in 2022 got this powerful car couldnt believe its from 1937 im. Shocked
Played Forza a while ago and had the Type C Auto Union… thought the game was unrealistic because it reached speeds far above 300kmh, only did I know…
I always find it interesting that so many marvel at the 1937 Auto-Union C Type streamliner and non-streamliner. And rightfully so, the car was way ahead of it's time in so many ways. The thing I find really amazing, is the fact that little is said about it's rival of the era, the Mercedes-Benz W125, which is even more amazing. Let's take a quick look at the W125's 1937 achievements. Rudolph Caracciola in the W 125, won the championship. Additionally, in the championship, second, third, and forth in the championship was won by drivers in W125s. In the Avusrennen race shown here with the Auto Union C Type streamliner and the Mercedes-Benz streamliner, the race was won by Herman Lang driving a W 125 streamliner. At the end of it's development the straight 8 supercharged 5.66L engine in the W125 was putting out 646 HP. this was the highest horsepower ever achieved in a Grand Prix car until the 1980's. The Auto Union C Type was quite innovative, however the Mercedes-Benz W 125 hands down, won the championship in 1937.
The Mercedes looks like a spaceship compared to the other cars. I wonder how long it took to get those smooth and seamless curves on those cars.
The Auto Union with its midship engine design was much more modern from the engineering point of view. Made by Porsche btw.
@@magnusmoldmaker source or any more info??
@@lohithreddy6629 you can google for Auto Union Type C. Those cars had over 500hp and could do 340km/h
Mercedes sure stuck with the long bonnet.
@@TheOfficialRandomGuyMerc at start was particularly interesting with straight 8 cyl engine and howling supercharger but auto union was really ahead I would say with almost midengine car first of kind

beautiful passes!
Early days of pure Racing
Beautiful "Silver Arrows", without tons of advertising all over the cars, like today's race cars.
Yeah but those ads have given us some nice paint jobs
i mean, i don't think you would like it if these team's true advertiser was on the car lol
I have seen period photographs of one or another of those cars and there is swastika just behind the drivers cockpit.@@k-osmonaut8807
Love this track ❤️
1:22 really insane accelerate
Magnifico documentario ! Vetture straordinarie !
0:04 they cut the initial presentation, the speaker actually "Il giovane pilota tedesco Herman Lang ha vinto ad una media oraria di 261 chilometri e settec-ento metri"
These races were really insane !! 👍🇧🇷
The streamliners were way ahead of their time
Non oso immaginare stare lì a guardare senza tappi
I just love how those old rear-engine cars look just like front-engine cars driving backwards :)
I was just getting into that! great vid
これ80,90年前の映像だよね?!、映像がとてもきれい。
あと壁のようなバンクに突っ込んでいくの怖すぎるだろ…。
Long, not really save but.......... I love it!
Theres a man in the vid with a flat viewing device .maybe an agent from the future.
Super cool!
See, this race had very high safety standards, there were white wooden poles seperating the two long straights, where cars would casually go 200mph.
the type c and the w125 streamliners actually raced. but the w125 streamliners should've been running laps around these guys by now... it was a 270 + mph car.
Not exactly. The W125 streamliner that did that speed is specially designed for the record breaking runs, it won't be suitable for a race like this.
0:27 What's up with those selfie sticks in 1937?
Binoculars
Meu vô tinha 7 anos na época
good glory😮
only thing separating the fans in the infield from the cars racing around the wall of death was a thin yellow rope 😅
So it wasn't just the drivers who had balls of steel...
But it works fine on video games....😅
Just a reminder that at least the streamlined cars here would do 200 down the straights
This is awesome but that track...
フルカウのやつカッコいい
The look is almost like ‘kinescope’….
Looks more like 1957!!!
Its exciting full couring car and bank cours.
Freedom generation is pleasant.
In front of who everyone participated in the races then when there was no safety, helmets, reliability of cars, it remains only for him to take off his hat.
Dude at 1:07 almost ate shit
World racing 2003, game of Synetic)))
Forza Horizon 6?
Shame this was in Fascist Germany.
Over 400kmh open cockpit and leather helmets . 🤌🏾
People acting like these cars were futuristic but not really. They’d do 240 in a straight line but would take forever to get there, take forever to brake from that speed, and had zero grip or stability so if anything went even a little bit wrong at that top speed, you’d just instantly die. And that did happen multiple times in this race
