  • In this weeks video I’m going to be cleaning up my basement couponing stockpile room. It’s a mess and needs to be organized and products put away. We had done raining days so I wasn’t able to work outside. It was the perfect time to get the basement cleaned up.
I had a sick plant to take care of and founds thrips on it 🤦‍♀️ so I’ll be treating some sick plants.

I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning and organizing since I retired last month…after 34 years in a hospital laboratory. When I get tired, I think of you and tell myself if Jodi can do it, just keep going. I must say I’d rather sit back and watch you clean and organize 😂 I sold and donated a lot of my coupon stockpile so now I have just enough for me and my family….and I keep on couponing! Thank you Jodi, for motivating my cleaning/organizing and teaching me to save with couponing.

Putting the plants outside during warm months is actually more beneficial than leaving them inside. They grow much bigger and the roots establish to stay strong during the winter.

Painted the last two walls of the living room yesterday. Today did the touch ups. Washed the floor in front. Then cleaned the bath, hall,, and my bedroom. Put away all the paint supplies and washed my paint clothes. Washed dishes, then my sheets and my bedroom curtains. Bed is made and the curtains are rehung. They are sheers and I put extra whitener on them and they look dazzling. Now off to lunch with a dear friend. Hopefully tonight I get the two huge bookcases moved and all the books put back. Then get my living room rearranged and enjoy it!

You are a wonderful plant mama. Peonies don’t like to be moved a lot, so when you transplant part of your daughters peonies make sure it’s going to stay in the spot you pick. Her pink ones are gorgeous!

I had a peonies bush in an area that became the vegetable garden and I trans planted it to another area, split into two plants. They looked sad that year and this year the foliage looks good but no sign of blooming yet. My other peonies have been blooming maybe two weeks. But the reason I have some is I always admired my neighbor’s flowers and he gave me what looked like sticks. He said don’t worry this is what they look like at first, you wait. I think they didn’t bloom for a couple of years but they are glorious now. They are the pink like you have and the trans planted ones are more like a wine.
Boy those bugs are tiny, good thing you noticed. Thank you for this video Jodi.😘

Peonies are easy to transplant! Just make sure u get the bulbs. Do it after they are done blooming. So you can do it now. Then next spring you will have them come up. After they’re done you can cut them back for fall. I have six of them. I have the deeper pink color. Love them!

@@jodidunnmymessylife1847 Totally understand! I was nervous the first time I tried it. And I know how much you love your pothos and don’t want anything to happen to them! They are so beautiful, and I wouldn’t want anything to happen to them either! The two I have are just basic pothos. I had never seen other varieties until you showed yours on your channel. But the root trimming really did help mine perk up and didn’t negatively affect them in any way. Anyway, I hope you have a great week, and I hope the weather cooperates so that you can get some outside work completed! 😊

I keep sending you pictures of my surprise peony plants, so I am so excited about the huge peony bushes in your daughter's yard. I am so jealous. I will be following for the transplant of the bush of course. I am excited! Beautiful. I recently got to new plants on me and my husband's recent trip to Indiana. I have a new beautiful swiss cheese plant and a polka dot plant. I would post pictures here if I could. I need to repot them. But they are in isolation and had been watered recently. So I will do that when they are ready water. I need new potting soil. I think my bag has been invaded by gnats! Ugh Plus I have noticed two plants I recently potted from my propogation station have gnats. I think I used that soil from the infested bag. So I have to repot those. I had to stress them again!

Hi Jodi, yes you can take half of the peonies and transplant. The 3 i have were dug up from my son's and brought here. They may not bloom the first year though. Keep Clark from peeing on them because that will kill them. I know this from experience. We dug up and transplanted spring and summer and the survived. Good luck and God bless.

Now I have one green leaf plant that was part of my large boyfriend’s original plant. It is thriving. My kids Grandma had me help dig up some peonies she had in this one bed, and had me bring some home. I got my first peonie bloom this year! It is simple to transplant, but takes 3 years for them to bloom in the new spot. The first year they were barely anything, last year a couple feet tall but no buds, and this year 3' tall and 1 bloom. 😊 Not sure if you buy them rather than just split some off Grayson's if it would be less time because they are just getting sunk in the dirt they were in the pot at the store or if they just don't like any movement. But the peonies are so pretty! Mine didnt last a week, but we had some really bad wind that banged up the bloom.

    • @jodidunnmymessylife1847
      @jodidunnmymessylife1847  Před 25 dny

I don’t think I’ll get any blooms on the one I just planted just because of the time of year. Maybe but I’m doubtful. It depends on how many “eyes” they have when you transplant them if you’ll get blooms the first year or not. Next year you’ll probably have a whole bunch of blooms 😍

I escaped a couple days last week and was able to get some weeding done! Its a bit of a pain to sit and weed, but at least I got outside. Graduation was Sunday! My youngest has been off since Christmas, but the actual ceremony was Sunday, I think most kids got off just before or just after Memorial Day.

I had 25 houseplants and lost them all to spider mites😥 Yes, I cried! Plants are beautiful but such hard work and it seems when one gets infested they all do. Hope you have better results with yours. Peonies are my favorite flowers nothing lovlier! My childhood home had pink peonies growing along white picket fence so gorgeous!

Oh no Tammy. That’s so sad. I was really hoping since the one that had thrips was not near any others it wouldn’t have spread 🤦‍♀️

Coupons & houseplants.. my two favorite topics! Ughh thrips are the worst! After getting one outbreak under control, I refuse to put any of my houseplants outside. I'm terrified of bringing in more pests. Also, check your fresh cut flowers & any veggies you bring in. Your Thai constellations are looking good! It's hard to believe they used to cost hundreds or thousands a few years ago.

Amy I was so upset finding the thrips!! And putting them outside was a terrible idea 😂
But it’s weird because when I bought the diffenbachia she lived outside on my porch from June to October and I had no issues 🤷‍♀️

Hello, Jodi. Try to use some yellow stick and see it will help. These yellow sticks can catch a lot of little bugs. I am not sure they will work on your plants or not, but they are not expensive and temu is selling these. You can give it a try.

I get gnats on my indoor plants at work. I use insecticide soap.
Okay friend. When you bring in new plants into home treat the plants.
Be careful putting indoor plants outside. They can get upset about temperature change and even leaves can get burnt.
      Wildlife and other insects.

Hi Jodi 👋 waiting for commercial to finish. Then I'll watch. Ok. I'm back...
Quite a good cleanup in "the store"...
Yes rainy / stormy weather can put a big crimp in gardening plans. But...you got to do indoor gardening tasks instead, so that's something!
Future option for that south facing window. Go outside with a mirror and have 1 of your girls be in the location where the plants needed the sun. While you are outside angle the mirror so the light bouncing off it goes into that spot where the plants were & have your daughter take a picture of you & your mirror angle/ location. Then get a few garden mirrors or mirror balls to place in that location during the tree shading times of the year. That reflected light will allow you to keep your plants where you want them.
Those leaf damages are called sun scald. Try a "shade cloth" over them during the most intense sunlight of the day.
Always keep a few larger pots on hand that are the next size up or same size for splitting like with the photos. Think gardening stockpile preparation.
You're doing what you can plant mama. You got this!

I enjoy your videos. My focus this week is mainly maintaining basic chores and health moments... I believe they call it self care these days.
I've been out doing 4 of the last 5 days and I haven't been able to do that in a long time so there's extra "recovery" time involved. I've also figured out how much muscle mass & energy I've lost over the past few years so I'm instigating a new improvement add on. Lol. I now have someone I can walk with once a week. So far. . . Only a block but improvement is improvement. 😂@@jodidunnmymessylife1847

I once had „jumping fleas“, no idea how they are called in english. They came with the soil and moved to all my plants till I discovered them, I was nearly crying. Took some time to get rid of all of them, I hope your pests leave quicker 🤞🏻
