- Thanks for stopping by! In today’s video I’m going to finish decluttering my family room. I have 2 big built in bookshelves to tackle, declutter & organize. I also have 2 end tables that I didn’t declutter in my first family room video.

I’m hosting thanksgiving at my house this year so I need to get the family all finished, decluttered and cleaned for Thursday
Deckuttering the hidden spaces in my house has been so relaxing and rewarding. Even though I couldn’t see the clutter I knew it was there and it bothered me!
So happy with how tidy the family room looks now ❤️

You are my favorite declutter and clean with me so far. You make me relax and less depressed. I think it is because of your voice and giddiness. Yes great idea. The nursing home I worked in had a library, and the residents loved going to check out books with their library card. ❤

OK! Pausing the vid here real quick! Our Library also stopped taking book donations, so we sold the books to half price books, and THEN went to the library and donated the cash!
Half price books is great because you can search country-wide, so someone who wants that book can find it no matter where it is.
What is half price books? Is it online where they buy your books?

I feel so dumb! I never realized they aren't nation wide! The site says the nearest store to you is in Kansas!!

A great place to donate books is senior citizen center or a teacher. Some teachers like to set up a little library in their class room.
Ps def keep the Harry Potter. If not , sell them on eBay. I wall papered my closets with book 1 and book 2 (not fit 2 read, water damage)

I decluttered a ton of books, the thrift store in my town and the library take donations but only sometimes and only so many per day. So I put the books in categories and gave them away on Craigslist. Anything leftover I’ve been adding to a “Free Little Library” box in my neighborhood.
New sub. Senior centers for books! I've watched 4 or 5 videos it's your honesty, humor, and the way you approach the way you do things. I really like that you leave yourself a little gift all over the house. Thanks for inviting us in. I am sorry about Gus but what a funny shower story✝️💜🕊️
I'm so happy you will use the China. It should be used. It so have happy memories. Not sitting in a shelf and then eventually in a thrift store. You should see how much I see in thrift stores these days. Seems kids don't want the huge sets. Probably cause the parents didn't use them.
Ps it might be time to clean the vents. I would see if you could get that vent off to take a peak inside. Which reminds me , I need to clean my washable filter for my HVAC !
Jodi you have such a beautiful home. How lovely it must feel for you to be organising everything the way you want it.
You can take the slat things on your doors. Just like the painter did on the undoes. They just snap off. Also don’t forget to clean your bricks on your fireplace hearth!!
I’m sure you have already donated your books. Never forget when donating things to remember Nursing Homes, Women’s Shelter, Homeless Shelter. I love your book shelves/ library. Excellent job
I just happened upon your channel and am so enjoying your decluttering. I was going to say that any books you come across you could offer them to your local high school or college library. We have little toy librarys for kids books at our local community buildings. You can always offer things for free on facebook . Your girls could help you do this. Your love for your family is so apparent in the pure joy you share with all new achievements. Thankyou .

My dog Lucky passed away in May. She was 14 years old, a rescue. I miss her so much! She was my constant companion. I have a memorial on a shelf in my living room and I turned her potty area outside, into a garden in her memory. I planted a butterfly bush,flowers,herbs,and have a wind chime in the middle.

Cricket here! You said previously that you have trouble remembering what you have when you can't see it. I recommend NEVER AGAIN storing anything in front of anything else unless it's a backup of an identical item. You could definitely spread your DVDs out a little more. 😉

I love what you said about 'progress not perfection' and I will keep saying this to myself. Usually, like you, I want perfection and if I can't get it then it puts me off doing anything at all! Watching and listening to you is, hopefully, helping to adjust my mindset - after all we live in our house not a showhome so I should accept that there will be things around me, not always put away.

What you can also do with the books is to give them to nursing homes etc. They usually love getting donations like this :)

Your sofas could use a nice fitted cover in a new appealing colour shade and texture. That’s not an expensive upgrade. Much cheaper than buying new sofas. Yes room looks super clean. You did a good job.
I just started my kids play room today! Whew. It was something. So excited to see the progress. Christmas decorations go up right after thanksgiving so we can enjoy them long enough but not take over the other holiday!

Girl, October 15th every year is when my mom wants to have Christmas stuff up and running ever since I could remember 🤣. My pup was small, and he used to sit under the Christmas tree amongst the gifts as if he was a gift himself 🥰. However, ever since our pup passed on in 2019 and all the pandemic hoopla, we haven’t decorated since. We still don’t have stuff up right now but we’ll try to get into the spirit this Christmas!

Geez, twice in one day....or actually for me twice in one hour seeing you. LOL! OMG, you are funny. I am that way. I don't want anyone to make anything. Just come and bring yourself and I'm thankful to have everyone with me but I will cook/clean/make/prepare, etc. everything. And everyone loves everything I cook/bake so that works for me. I always tell them when I can't do it, you will have your chance. And I love my swiffers too. I have that long extension one as well and love it for the walls and high spots. Funny because I had my husband take my chandelier down so I could wash every part of it tonight over the dining room table. I knew it needed it but I couldn't do that alone so I had him help. Got the fixtures all clean anyway. It's a very modern looking chandelier. I don't know if that's what you would call it but I do anyway. And I don't judge anyone for anything. We are all different and that's the bottom line. OMG, you're getting a tooth pulled 2 days before Thanksgiving?! Wow, you have ... keeping it G-rated...nerve. Wow. So back to the judging....I'm a Twilight fanatic. Read the books each in one day, and they are really thick, long books...twice, different times but love them. I have the entire series of movies that I've watched probably 100 times or more. The first Twilight my daughter wanted me to see so badly so we sat on her bed with bowls of ice cream and that got me hooked, read the books, went and saw every movie after that, then read the books again. Yep, just a little obsessed. But that's me. And I used to read all of Danielle Steel's books too but they caused too much crying. I do enough of that in real life and don't need books that make me do that. And I have my dog's memorial in my curio too. My husband and I both talk to him daily and I have some of his fur from the last time I clipped him a bit and we still open that dang curio door and rub that fur. We also have a box with his remains and a ton of framed pics, his collar, and I am making this spring a Rainbow Bridge Garden...long story...but his leash is going into part of the building of that garden. We've lost too many pets to count and I have a ton of plans for this garden. All our fur babies, except for our doggie are buried outside our home and we have a huge space where we have their plots, if you will. Anyway, you're a brave one with that gauze in your mouth and putting up decorations with your daughter. That mantle looks gorgeous! In fact, you did an amazing job with the entire thing. And I love that suggestion with the family games being right there. That is perfect!! Good thing you got all that Pledge. LOL. OK, gasp when you moved the chair. Love knowing you will laugh when you read this. Q tips are great for that kind of cleaning in small places. That's what I use a lot of times. OMG OMG OMG We ALL have fans in our rooms. We use fans for the noise and for air flow even in the winter. We would rather it be cool when we sleep instead of too warm because we do sleep better with the air cooler than hot. So if you walk in bedrooms we have fans and that's just how it is. Oh Jodi, you did an amazing job on that family room. I love Gus's area. That is so super nice! Good for you. I hope you enjoy your day with family on Thursday. And soooo glad to hear you're going to use the china! Sorry for the long posts. It's just that you always hit on things that I can extremely relate to and have to say something about all of it.
I agree that Clutterbug's quiz doesn't always get it right. Some issues I don't have problems with so I couldn't answer the question honestly. I ended up just reading through what each bug's organization style was and figured it out on my own. I am a Cricket. I like everything out of sight but it has to be meticulously organized.

I enjoy watching your decluttering videos. I've started to declutter myself. I've been working from home since March 2020 and i have to tackle my work clothes closet, which hasnt been touched in all that time. I have so much to go thru, i have about 25 black slacks alone that i have to go thru. First, i have to check what still fits, than pare down after that. But i am determined to get it done

Prisons are always accepting books! They usually have a person in charge of the donations, and they might even come and pick them up from your house, or you can meet the person at a Walmart parking lot or someplace similar.

Books are great for hospital waiting rooms & patient "lending" libraries. Talk to the volunteers. They will know.
