- We are eager to start the moving process even if it's still winter in Alaska. We pick up an enclosed trailer and move the Shelterlogic along with many other items to our new property. It's no surprise when we arrive we don't make it up the driveway on the first try but when we do we are perplexed by the hundreds of animal tracks leading up to the cabin.

The view of the mountains during your ride was absolutely stunning. It’s so great that y’all are able to move just a little ( a lot )at a time instead of everything at once. That is such a great help to y’all. Boy was there some snow. The caribou at the end was awesome.

I’ve been waiting for this, I’m so excited for you guys. You work so hard, but I would rather work hard than be in a daily 9-5 grind. There is a freedom and peace of mind working for yourself that you don’t get working for someone else. Huge. Tip for getting poles and tents out of frozen ground. Rock salt, let it do the work for you. Once you have it out, rinse off to get salt residue off canvas.

Being excited about animal scat is the essence of the human experience, that’s what we love about you guys. Not so yippity bippity about the waist high snow, but we were very cheerful when a few flakes fell as we exited church this morning as it seemed so perfectly iconic of winter :) Cheers guys, super happy for your move and your future. When I was in the hospital a few years ago, I was weak and unable to eat the unappealing food. My son brought me a bacon and tomato sandwich. It was so delicious. I always say that BLT saved my life.
You two are GREAT! Just remember, move is a four letter word! LOL Remember in the conex, vertical space is your friend. Think of something like your scaffold made out of 2x4's, about 2' X 8' x 6' tall. One on each side near the back with 2x4's going across at the highest shelf to keep them extremely stable. I made mine out of 2x4's and 3 1/2" plywood shelves on 2x4 frames with two cross braces and have not been concerned about how much I put on them. The bottom shelf sits on the floor for more stability. I think this is similar to what you had in the conex at the old place. Love your channel!

A low-ticket item for sometime when you have extra time (ha ha) is to mill some live-edge siding planks to install on that conex to camouflage it so that it doesn't look so industrial. Of course, your Quanset hut 'shop' is going to look out of place, too. I'm so happy for you that you're gonna have a HUGE kitchen, and a TABLE to sit down for meals. You mentioned bringing the chickens... are you planing on having a garden and/or a high-tunnel at the new homestead? I can't imagine y'all not growing your own food and canning it. That's 80% of the fun of your videos.

Its one long, long time since I saw a washing machine with a mangle, Takes me back to the years after WW2, when my mother used to do the washing with a poss-tub, then have one of we three brothers wind the mangle handle while our Mom fed the clothes through before hanging them up to wind dry. My Dad bought, in about 1954, a twin-tub washing machine, which included a spin-dryer, and My Mom thought she'd gone to heaven.

Hi guys. I was meaning to share something that I learned up there. For your outhouse take some pink foam board insulation and cut out the shape of a toilet seat. Sitting on this immediately feels 1000 times better than a cold seat.
Arielle, I’m with you with the back pain (I hauled too much soil around on my property in prep to extend my veggie garden and hightunnel reup! So I’ll remember the cure for back pain, that you mentioned 😅

Fine shredded cabbage, with onions, red pepper, salt, black pepper, fried in olive oil put mixture over large boiled egg noodles....
At 9.53 there was a beep. Happened for me during a thunderstorm and I had to rewind numerous times to make sure something in my house wasn’t beeping. Awesome scenery up there.
