  • Just this March 14th, 2024, a Flanker made headlines again for forcing down a US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Black Sea, earning it a badass nicknamed” Reaper Killer.” According to US reports, the incident began with what appeared to be a standard patrol by the Reaper. The situation quickly turned aggressive, with one Flanker engaging in harassing maneuvers, including flying in front of and dumping fuel on the drone. This dangerous escalation culminated in a collision, damaging the Reaper's propeller and forcing the US to bring it down.
This wasn't a random event. It serves as a perfect reminder of the Flanker's impressive history and its continued relevance in today's world.
Developed to directly compete with the F-15, the Flanker's origins even involve a dash of Cold War intrigue: rumors of Soviet espionage swirled around its design.
Let’s take a deep dive into the story of this legendary fighter jet, from its mysterious beginnings to its enduring role as a symbol of Russian airpower. Stay tuned!

Russia used a cheap Su-27 and actually damaged their own aircraft trying to harass an MQ-9. The F-22 is much more expensive to repair by doing stupid stunts. Meanwhile, the US operates with professionalism compared to Russia, so they chose to to properly shoot it down instead.
Also, some general wanted to use this as a PR move to flex on China with a fancy F-22. They chose the AIM-9X in order to shoot down the balloon because firing the 20mm cannon would destroy the target, and whatever was beyond the target, including civilians on the ground. A missile would bring it down in a controlled manner, minimizing collateral damage, so it’s not really as big of a deal as you think it is.

If your point is making RUF look bad then you might be facing little to no adds in ur vid. This channel may be getting strikes or other types of Censorship bc its not putting out the type of content they prefer. I know the pro Ukrainian channels do not face the type of Censorship that independent channels experience. My point is, there may be things going on behind the scenes we dont know about that affects the content we see. I know you alluded to that possibility, I'm just elaborating as to what may be happening.
I just want to watch content that's sincere/genuine and isn't propaganda trying to indoctrinate us. No one is perfect and even independent channels will have a bias at times.
I remember the outrageous lies we were told about the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. Back then I believed the govt and didn't know the media was just a tool they used to manipulate us. After seeing those lies get exposed in a variety of ways over the years I learned to stop "focusing on the leaf" so I could "see the forest". You are right to expect consistency and accuracy. In my opinion, the research had inserted itself into a battlefield, therefore, Russia had full rights to shot the darn thing down. Unfortunately a fuel temporarily failed and the repeat had to land,. heh heh!! Nothing to do with abilities, of which I know nothing about any planes civilian or military, but I happen to think the SU series are really cool looking starting with the 27's. But, looks don't finish jobs, so there is that, damn wars!

How can you get so much wrong in one video. The F-15 was a response to the Mig-25. A plane that the US mistook for an air superiority fighter. And it was designed to be able to dog fight because of the lessons learned in Vietnam and the short comings of the F4 Phantom. It was actually a very heavy fighter for its day. Hence the F16 was born to compliment it.
The Su-27 was designed to be superior to the F15. It's design comes from studies done by the Soviet Union's version of NASA. The same design philosophy can be found in the Mig 29. It was designed as an air superiority fighter as well. But, just like the F15, it was later developed to a multi purpose role.
You keep praising the F15 as the superior dog-fighter, with un matched agility. The Flanker is actually the more agile of the two. It was designed to excel at dog-fighting.
As for taking out the Reaper drone. Likely most WWII aircraft could do that. The Reaper is not a dog fighter. It has nothing to fight back with really. The one in question was spying on Russian activity in the Black Sea, that was forwarded to the Ukrainian military. Like Icarus, it flew too close to the sun and its wings melted.

There's a lot of ignorant comment about the superiority of American fighters, especially the F 15. Please google "USAF versus Indian Air Force war game's". The IAF beat USAF F 15s with SU 30s, Mirage 2000s, Jaguars and even MIG 21s, not once, but TWICE, in India and the US.

If the Flanker struck the prop of the drone, what damage was done to the Flanker? I believe that the Russian pilot got too close by accident. Why chance losing a multi-mission expensive aircraft to knock down a drone when he could have used his cannon? Pilot error, and he got lucky.
