My Dad had visitation rights. He would pick me up and we'd go to White Hen Pantry. He would get me a Star Log, a Matchbox car and a frozen Coke. That was so long ago. I miss him.

Hello. I really like 1999. It was my favourite programme in 1976. It was incredible. The theme tune and opening were great. The episodes had mostly great stories and high production values. Lots of horror stories. Dragons Domain frightened the life out of me.
Please differentiate Series 1 from Series 2 which was far inferior to its predecessor. Almost like a totally different show using the same cast and models.

Gosh I miss my Starlogs. By no means did I have all of them, but I did have lots of them from the 70s - 90s. But sometime in the 90s my wife and I did a big magazine purge. Starlog was not the only magazine I collected, and my wife collected many mags too. We had magazines falling out of our closet! We wanted to avoid the whole "hoarder" situation, so we did a big purge. And I couldn't very well say "We're keeping my Starlogs" when she was giving up a lot of hers. Wouldn't be fair. So out they went. Gosh, i wish i still had them.

I remember getting that first Star Wars issue and reading about this impossible movie coming out in a couple months. This was before any preview trailers or nationwide press. The concept art actually blew my mind. How were they going to realize anything like this on screen? What? I literally was the first to know in my neighborhood and went on endlessly about this amazing impossible science fiction movie that was coming out around my 12th birthday and we had to go see it. I remember us being excited as we took our seats, munching Red Vines that we’d bitten the ends off to make straws out of for our Cokes. Lights dim, the preview for the other big summer release, “The Deep” plays and then that orchestra hit into the fanfare and opening crawl. Then a ship flies over our head followed by the single most astounding sight I’d ever seen: A giant ship in pursuit. A GIANT ship in pursuit. The 5 of us let out an amazed “Whoa!” and told each during intermission we were staying in our seats to watch it again (theaters back then didn’t have such a problem with the kids hanging out as long as we bought more stuff from the concession stand). Saw it 28 times that summer; each time I paid my own way. Best summer of my life.

Did historic work in the industry. Even had one of my works appear in the opening montage of Star Trek Enterprise. The bubble nose on the submarine. Funny story about that. But that's a story for another time.

I read Starlog a lot from the mid-90s through the early 2000s. It was a magazine that I thought would last forever. I miss it to this day.

Heartbreaking. I had the very first Starlog magazine and had collected quite a large number of issues. Unfortunately, along with many other items I had stored in boxes in the garage, the roof had collapsed and everything destroyed by a lot of water due to heavy rains. So I can feel the pain of that warehouse burning down and losing all those magazines, utterly destroyed. Watching this brings back a lot of fond memories.

LOVED STARLOG!! Have almost all my copies still. Introduced me to, along with many movies and tv series, a great by mail company called the Intergalactic Trading Company. Miss them both.

So cool! I was also one of the nerds who collected Starlog. In fact, I collected Starlog, Heavy Metal & OMNI magazines well into the 80s. No Farah Fawcett poster on my bedroom wall. Nope it was Star Trek. And I had the Enterprise, Klingon D-7 and Romulan Bird of Prey models hanging from my ceiling positioned in an epic space battle! I was such a geek. LOL

Yep, Heavy Metal Magazine, man I used to love seeing the latest issue show up in the magazine rack at the newsstand in town.
It's a shame all those hardcopy magazines have seen their day, there was nothing else like them, the smell, being able to actually touch the pages you were reading and the pictures you were looking at, when you held them in your hands they had weight, they were real compared to something that's an electronic copy.

Bought my olive green Battlestar Galactica warrior's jacket from that magazine. Was expecting a brown one like everyone else.

I used to want one but never got it. I remember seeing somebody wearing one in a shopping mall and was shocked by the strange color. Still looked good, I was just thrown off by the color.

DID you ever read Cinefantique(?)? Along with Starlog and Famous Monsters they had a great mag too! I have EVERY issue from number 1 to at lease number 200 and I am not sure how many more. I kind of stopped buying when they would no longer appear in the book store I went to. Being a film maker Cinemagic was also another mag I collected.

My neighbor, Mrs Waznuk was his sister. I told her ivwant to take a trip for a summer in Europe in the late seventies. She said she would talk to him and ask if I could spend a few days at his castle. Never went to Europe, alas.
