Tawasiel 2008 It was first real handheld for me and I was kinda disappointed when it didn't take off too well. For me the early adopter "free" games were a nice boost and after getting some good games, e.g. Fire emblem and Zeldas, have made me forgive Nintendo.
Yeah, I felt the same but I didn't hate Nintendo but it defefentily broke my complete loyalty to the brand. I was piss that their was nothing to play and the games we were supposed to get for free was coming at the speed of a glacier melting. I was eleven mind you so patient wasn't really my specialty. I ended up using my old 360, ask my dad to get me the wifi adapter, and started my xbox live gaming career. Don't worry, I wasn't those annoying kids who screamed.
Yep, it was great. I paid $100 for a discounted 3DS just because the box had been opened. There was even an 8gb storage card left in it. :) I only bought it because I wanted to play Pokemon Y but I don't regret it, the mechanics & controls have grown on me.
Here's a head scratcher. 3ds has backwards compatibility with DS games. But no one thought to put DS games on the eshop. Literally money down the drain, lost to the second hand market.

If you close your one eye and have the 3D Effect on, the 3d effect won't be visible. That's because you need both eyes so that the brain can realise the depth of the pixels
What types of games are you into? I can give recommendations based on that. For my my favorite 3DS game is Fire Emblem Awakening, and I recommend that to all 3DS owners.

Something else that seems to be news to a lot of 3DS owners is that your upper screen wobbling as well as your hinges being able to move side to side about 1 mm is actually an implemented design, not a manufacturing flaw. Back when the DS Lite was the newest handheld from Nintendo it was notorious for having cracked hinges due to them being so tight. This actually happened to my brother's DSL and one side of the upper screen popped out, making it unplayable. We didn't get it repaired because the 3DS had just launched so it made more sense to simply upgrade. To fix this issue Nintendo loosened the hinges on the next models, naturally. Apparently a lot of people didn't know this and thought that their wobbly screens were a defect. As long as your screen still clicks into place, it's fine!

Daniel Ely I already wear glasses and have something wrong with my eyes (can't remember what but it prevents me wearing contacts). A big part of the issue is that you have to have the 3DS in the 'perfect' place, which can both be a hassle to find and a hassle to keep the 3DS in that position whilst you play. The N3DS has head tracking though so the 3D adjusts to where your eyes are. I've not used it myself (since I don't have a N3DS) but I imagine that solves a majority of the issue. I mean, I know my eyes are probably the issue here. It's just a good job Nintendo didn't make the 3D mandatory because there are a lot of people it just doesn't 'work' for and there's not necessarily anything wrong with their eyes.
#10 was actually built for movie screens in the 1940s by Jacque Fresco. They ended up not using it because without glasses, the 3D is only viewable at certain angles and that meant fewer seats in the theater.

I actually got to work on an R4 cart port of Doom, and even tried some experimental 3D implementation, but I lost interest at about Half way of development. 3D on doom just literally hurts your eyes. That and by the time I got a beta build going, there was an OS update in which rendered my R4 cart useless for a while. Since this happened repeatedly, I just figured it would never happen. Now that I think of it, now the 3DS is dead, I may rebuild my project ;)
The problem with putting 3ds Tech in movie theaters is that 1st of all it would be very expensive but mainly it couldn't track all the customers eyes at once.
3D technology of the 3DS won't transfer to cinemas. The reason the new3DS works so well is because of the eye tracking, the screen adjusts to the position of your eyes to keep the 3D effect from messing up. Tracking the eyes of all spectators and adjusting the screen accordingly to each person is impossible. One way I imagine they could do it is if each column of seats gets a specific perspective since the person will be sitting without moving, kind of like the old 3DS which worked well as long as you kept the device perfectly straight without moving it around. Even then, I'm not sure but it would be interesting if they can make 3D without glasses. I'm also thinking that 3D could go the way of Betamax and virtual reality cinemas could be the new thing.
Yeah vr cinemas is the closest thing since doing 3DS like that for multiple people at once would be impossible. We know it's possible since CZcams already has vr videos which in my opinion is really cool to feel like you're actually in the video.
I once went into a museum and they had a 3D projected image of earth and they had a Wii remote aimed at it and were using it to rotate and zoom into it.

hold the select button while booting DS, DSiWare, or Virtual Console content and the 3ds will display the original resolution without upscaling. Some virtual consoles will also apply a background.

I actually got to work on an R4 cart port of Doom, and even tried some experimental 3D implementation, but I lost interest at about Half way of development. 3D on doom just literally hurts your eyes. That and by the time I got a beta build going, there was an OS update in which rendered my R4 cart useless for a while. Since this happened repeatedly, I just figured it would never happen. Now that I think of it, now the 3DS is dead, I may rebuild my project ;)

The problem with putting 3ds Tech in movie theaters is that 1st of all it would be very expensive but mainly it couldn't track all the customers eyes at once.

3D technology of the 3DS won't transfer to cinemas. The reason the new3DS works so well is because of the eye tracking, the screen adjusts to the position of your eyes to keep the 3D effect from messing up. Tracking the eyes of all spectators and adjusting the screen accordingly to each person is impossible. One way I imagine they could do it is if each column of seats gets a specific perspective since the person will be sitting without moving, kind of like the old 3DS which worked well as long as you kept the device perfectly straight without moving it around. Even then, I'm not sure but it would be interesting if they can make 3D without glasses.
I'm also thinking that 3D could go the way of Betamax and virtual reality cinemas could be the new thing.
Yeah vr cinemas is the closest thing since doing 3DS like that for multiple people at once would be impossible. We know it's possible since CZcams already has vr videos which in my opinion is really cool to feel like you're actually in the video.

Actually I'm reminded of the 3ds fail launch every time i start up my 3ds. I still have the very first model and Always keep the Ambassader Program on my home screen. I mean it's pretty much a "You paid too much" badge. Plus I got some sweet VC games from it :D

I wish Sony had the Guts to support PS VITA . A waste of such good Hardware. hold the select button while booting DS, DSiWare, or Virtual Console content and the 3ds will display the original resolution without upscaling. Some virtual consoles will also apply a background.
The reason why having not 3D glasses at movie theaters would be bad is because you would need a back projector, so the theater would be twice as big.
