Urban Cat League President and co-founder Mike Phillips takes you step by step through the process from the advance planning to the various kinds of trap options and even what to do if things go wrong. Highly recommended for first-time kitten trappers!
This is fantastic. I learned a bunch from this. But honestly, in my (young 8 years) of TNR I've never once considered letting a cat or kitten be hit with the trap noise at full volume. That just seems like unnecessary trauma so the first thing I do with a new trap is zip-tie a washcloth around the door threshold to muffle it. I didn't know this wasn't normal. The vets all understand it when they see it. There's absolutely no value to keeping the trap at full volume.
We adjusted the upload settings for CZcams and the video quality is much better in this version. Sorry, but we lost all of your kind comments when we deleted and reposted this new version.
I'm new to CZcams as well. You might want to pin this comment so it goes to the top for everyone to read first. ❤
Very useful!! Thank you!
This is extremely informative and helpful, I especially love the bottle with a string advice. Thank you for this video.
Very useful tips. Thank you!
Extremely helpful, thank you very much.
Thank you! Great and informative video!!!!!
❤❤❤ very helpful tips! Have a large, older litter. I have a typical large black wire kennel(3’x5’). Is there a way to use bungee cords to spring the door and then use a bottle string pull to trap a large number if don’t have a drop trap available?
Very helpful. Thank you
All scenarios covered in just 20 mins. A complete guide for TNR, very useful for beginners like me. Thank for sharing this video.
Thanks for the recommendation! Urban 😺 League

Will the key ring trick work with the Haveahart trap?Just ordered it to trap 3 kittens and a very feral agressive mom😮 Your videos are very enlightening especially with to a novice like me. THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS TO ANIMALS😊❤❤❤❤
I've used it with some Havahart traps but I don't think it works with the solid metal door model. I'll take a look and see if there's a hack around that.
The classic bottle and string will always work instead and can be just as effective.
@@mphil22 Thank You for getting back to me! I returned the Haveahart trap. Parts were very sharp and the spring door was so tight, it slammed down like a guillotine. Got a Tomahawk and it's great! I managed to capture 3 kittens at once by feeding them in a pet carrier. Caught mom in the trap. All have gone to a wonderful rescue organization.
and is there a way to use key ring/nail with a gravity trap like trucatch?
😻😻😻
A lady been trying to catch kitten and other cats. She put traps out but the cats will not go in them
She should follow the instruction to "train" the cats first. Start with the food near the door and gradually move it farther back before setting the trap. It's important not to have other food available except the food in the traps. After watching the entire video she will know what to do.
Finding the food that they can't resist can take some trial and error. With the advice in the video, it should work with a little testing of which "bait" they like enough to go inside. Start close to the entrance and work it farther back as explained in the video
