Pulled this short edit from a Twitch VOD of a previous live stream, that delves in to recent reddit post about accounts being hijacked/stolen to sell for big money. TL;DR: someone is abusing support to gain access to accounts with gizmos so they can sell them for thousands of dollars. Then, when the original owner tries to get the account back, support just closes the account and says multiple people have provided enough information to prove account ownership

The only other mmo i've played let you have a secret question and answer for these situations. If the other person didn't know the answer then they couldn't do anything with the account. Even now, 15 years later, i remember my secret answer and i haven't played the game for over 6 years. That and proof of ID made it impossible to do these kind of tricks because the support would never bend over. You forgot the email attached to the account? Go recover it and come back. Forgot your password? We'll send a link to the attached email. If you really can't access the email you still need the ID binded to the account and the secret answer.
