Here I am with the return of my 'Makes and Favourites' videos. Sorry this has come so late! But in this video I share what I sewed in January as well as a few things I've been loving lately.
I'd love to hear from you in the comments - what have you been enjoying recently? And which sewing project of mine was your fave?

See you again soon with another video, Tamlyn xx
I had to chuckle when you said you'd switched from clothes sewing to bag making! I was obsessed with bag making (and accumulated a large stash of fabric, hardware, etc.). My view was that you can never have too many bags, well it turns out you can 🤣. Having been inspired by you lovely CZcamsrs #Fridaysews I'm now sewing my own wardrobe 😊
I love your makes Tamlyn and the fabrics are so nice. Thank you for your video. I look forward to your videos
Absolutely adore all of your makes, the bag is gorgeous! Love listening to the podcast. Hope to catch up with you soon
Rugby knit on this side of the world refers to the fabric Rugby football jerseys were made of, it's a heavy cotton knit, not a great deal of stretch, a lot of men's long sleeve leisure polo shirts were made of, can't say I have seen much around lately, hopefully that helps in a small way. Loving your style of vlogs and makes regards Diana from NZ 🎉❤
LOVE these videos. So glad they’re back 🎉. That skirt is just amazing on you honey! Can’t wait for York ❤
Aw thanks so much for shouting out my Sew What's New episode, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I had so much fun recording that episode I can't even remember what we taked about haha 😂 Love what you've made so far this year! And now I want fudge...
I enjoyed your video. One of these days I will make the Crescent tote.
Love your January makes!
Your skirt and bag are amazing Tamlyn. The top looks really cosy too with those pockets. I agree, bags are the way to go when you dont need any more clothes, but then we'll have too many bags lol. Bags for gifts are the way forward. 😊
Loved listening to Yvette especially the bit about the rats that made me chuckle can’t wait to see you this week!
This was fab, packed with interest.I loved your skirt, the fabric was gorgeous.I would have liked more photos of your makes from different angles. The soil top looks lovely with the rainbow fabric. I am looking forward to your next one but only if you have time.
Love the skirt! Takes me back to my teens, I had several little kilts and loved them 😊 x
Thank you for telling us about Meal Time Pro. I am going to look into that.
Fool Me Once was a great watch. Love your makes, the bag is gorgeous.
Loved the bag.
So difficult to choose which make of yours was my favorite...the skirt, the t-shirt (I need some of that fabric!), or the tote 🤔
Love these type of videos Tamlyn, so much more interesting and inspiring than the usual format on CZcams 😊
I like these kind of updates. More sewist used to do their monthly updates and have stopped and I miss them. You are so tiny I think you ought to always go with the smaller size if you’re in-between, especially with knits. After my last couple of makes, I’ve decided the hardest part of sewing is sizing. I like your makes. My first couple of invisible zippers were so close to the teeth, they wouldn’t even zip up! If you ever come to the US, up north in Michigan is a small tourist island full of fudge shops. They call the tourist “fudgeys” and they make sure all the yummy smells are out on the street to entice you to come through the doors. It’s called Mackinac Island, pronounced Mackinaw.
Mackinac Island is one of my favourite places to visit. I live in Southern Ontario Canada, not too far away. I hope to visit again.
Yey, great to see your makes and favourites back 😀
I’ve found that having the right zipper foot was a game changer for sewing invisible zips.
What a great video. I love all your makes. The Bernadette skirt is so cute. The bag is so professional. Great inspiration. Xx
OMG it was a amazing tv show I watched 6 episodes at once, and gripping definitely 👍 the skirt is gorgeous
This was such an entertaining video, Tamlyn. I love the idea of having pockets in a more sweater like fabric top. Sometimes when my sewjo needs a boost, I turn to bag making or creating things for my home. Learning bag making skills has actually made my garment sewing much more precise and I've interchanged techniques from both with beautiful results. It's amazing what changing up a simple cushion cover or curtains can do to the mood of a room too. January is a tough month for me for various reasons, and I tend to have more time. It's great for binge watching a favorite show, which is what I did with Fool Me Once. This month my favorites are Masters of the Air and The New Look on Apple TV+. Lol, sorry for being long winded! Thanks for keeping me company. ☺
Lovely makes, and some great tips. Thank you. 😊
Fool me once was sooo good! Really enjoyed seeing your makes and faves! I also love sew what's new and Yvette's Stash Chats on the stash hub youtube channel is also a great one :)
love to see all your makes and your favourite things.. I love the Crescent bag... Can I order it... I'm from Canada Please
I love to sew and I'm working through quite a stash. If I make something that doesn't suit anyone I know I save it up and when I get a few I donate them to a homeless shelter or something like that. That way I can indulge my passion without needing to rent closet space.
💖
Great vlog, Tamlyn. Love the extras sans sewing.
Lovely catch up. Thanks Tamlyn x
Hi Tamlyn, that was such a great vlog, I loved it. My favourite make was your tote bag, it’s beautiful. I also watched Fool Me Once, what a great show, I’ve watched most of the Harlan Coben adaptations on Netflix and they are all really good (love his books). I’ll definitely be listening to the podcast and also looking into meal prep. ❤😊
Fab vlog! Love your skirt, the little bag is very cute!
Fool me once, is great, we’re watching Trigger Point at the moment which you might like too, if you’ve not seen it 😊
Your Bernadette skirt and the Crescent Tote are my favorites, Tamlyn. 😘 Have you gone down the rabbit hole of piecing and quilting? I’m using my @SewHayleyJane fat quarters. They’re such good quality and beautiful prints. It does keep me back on the garment sewing, though. I want to make the skirt and bag for me and for my youngest granddaughter who is on the cusp of adult pattern sizes. She’s only 12 and growing like a weed!
Thanks for your podcast recommendations. Love me some Harlan Corbin in any format. 😘
PS…At one time First For Fabrics mentioned that they were looking at international shipping. Any news on that front? I would love to order from there.
I used to like fudge and caramel when I was younger but in the last 10 years I’ve found anything high sugar is too much for me 😊 I have to admit, it’s kind of a relief to no longer crave those foods.
Great tips on the Phoenix sweatshirt- I have had the pattern for a couple of years and not yet made it🙈. I think rugby knit is cotton jersey or sweatshirt fabric- the stuff rugby shirts were made of back in the day 😂. Bernadette Skirt looks amazing on you. Waistcoat will really set it off. 😊 Lynne. P.S. salivating over fudge now!!😂
Fudge😋
I've been pattern matching a flannel Myositis. Like you, some unpicking but worth it
xXX👍👍👍
Does 1st for Fabrics ship to Canada?
Unfortunately not 😢
