Well, I watched exactly half of the video then totally gave up to go to bed early. So I finished this video this morning and I wanted to say that I love your fabrics and I couldn't hear the mowing. Have a lovely week.

Aw that’s so sweet that you came back to finish it, thank you! I’m glad you couldn’t hear the mowing, it would have been such a distraction. I’m very excited so sew up my new fabrics, I was just thinking about the floral one earlier 😊

I think the Darling Ranges would look stunning in that linen. I look forward to seeing the finished dress, whatever you choose. And the Odell dress looks really interesting.

Thank you, I am very tempted by the darling ranges because I know I love and wear it. I'm just wondering if sleeveless would be better for hot weather... argh too many choices and I really want to do such beautiful fabric justice!

I know what you mean - I spent a whole hour this afternoon trying to decide what to make - with the fabric laid out on the table ready to cut!

@@AvrilBrown-ld6gm oh I get it, cutting out seems like the biggest decision - there’s no going back after that 🫣

Thanks so much! I usually have to give them to myself so I do appreciate it 😂

Swapping zips in trousers!!!! Heroine or what!! I don’t sew for others - far too much stress and I don’t have time to get all MY makes done😮. Absolutely beautiful fabrics- we all deserve a treat from time to time and I look forward to seeing them made up. As for wearing clothes from when I was 15- would have to lose a few stone first. Enjoying your channel. 😊 Happy Sewing. Lynne

Thanks Lynne, I know you appreciate what a task that zip was! I am still thrilled with my new fabric and have no 'buyers remorse', just excitement to sew it up, so I think treating myself was the right decision, but it's lovely to hear others like it to ☺️

Love that linen and I get what you said about plain dresses looking a bit institutional 😂 I think a shirtdress with a flared skirt (love the way linen looks cut on the bias) and some cool details would look great. I sometimes drape the fabric straight on me, with a belt and appropriate shoes, maybe a necklace or whatever other accessory I might wear the garment with, to get a better idea of how it will work for me.

Draping is a great idea, thank you, I will try that! Glad you all can appreciate the linen, I wasn't sure if it would look boring on video but it's so beautiful. Yes, you know what I mean about shirt dresses, even if it took me a while to think of the word 😂

Love your Haley. You might also be able to make a nice little co-ord set with that lovely linen? Since you mastered the wide leg pants, you could make a pair and a little top to match. Just a thought. Keep up the good work. Catriona

When I have a fabric that is difficult to tell the right side from the wrong side, I always put a small safety pin on the right side of the fabric pieces, directly after cutting. Then whenever I am sewing, I make sure to put the pin sides together. I've tried masking tape and different marking tools, but the masking tape can fall off and the marking can be difficult to remove. I learned this from Ana who's currently using Pattern Pouch Nest as her You Tube channel. It works well for me.
As to your beautiful linen, do you like to wear your linen unpressed or do you like to press all your linen garments? I only ask because if you like your linen pressed, you might find the gathers in the Darling Ranges dress more difficult to press. If you are okay with wearing your linen un-pressed, I think that pattern would be gorgeous. There was a time when I pressed all my linen, so I tend to take those things into consideration. Now I am wearing my linen more natural: I just pop it in the drier for a few minutes after washing and then shake all my wrinkles out and let it air dry. I just didn't want you to be disappointed with a dress that spends more time in the ironing basket than in the closet. Ask me how I know this can happen.
I love both your new fabrics. The rayon is especially gorgeous!

Thank you a safety pin is a great idea. As you saw I usually use tape as I am not good at differentiating right and wrong side, but yes, it sometimes gets caught on my ironing board or something and sticks to that instead!
I definitely wear linen (er, most things?!) unpressed, honestly I like the wrinkly look of linen and think it's part of the charm. I don't think I'd be able to wear it all if wrinkles bothered me because there is no stopping them!
