We stopped halfway around our loop to chat to the Surrey Police who were out winning hearts and minds to all the local MTB, 4x4 and Enduro Riders that use the trails leading up to Leith Hill.

I want an e mountain bike to do this but maybe not quite so hard core, I break easily and wouldn't want to come off to hard or at all if I can help it lol.

Yeh they were really nice! Get an eBike and you’ll be doing it before long. You just ride further for longer :) Believe me I didn’t think I would be doing it either 😁🤘
@@TheBikePilot I got a old mountain bike not electric of course that I love riding DOWNHILL but hate riding uphill lol.
I just bought a cheap folding ebike to get back into cycling a bit as it's hills all around here and amazed how easy it is to get about with a little assistance up the hills.
I did 30 miles the other day after not riding a bike properly for 10 years ...
Not sure if I want the hastle of a mid drive with the cogs and chain maintainance or just keep to a simple rear hub drive but then it's gonna limit the downhill off road stuff a bit I guess?
Yeh mate, mid drive isn’t real hassle. Just you will get through a cassette and chain quicker. Mine last around 1000miles before I proactively changed it out before the Megavalanche but it had more in it. Rear hub drives will have all the weight in the wrong place for downhill and the bikes geometry. I’m the same as you, love down hate up. But it’s fun up now! You can get a good second hand bike now on eBay just check the drivetrain and motor/battery warranty. It’s a big investment but the fun and good times had on it mean it’s a worthwhile use of your funds..I mean people spend thousands a year on drinking on smoking with no health benefits. I love it to death 🤘🤘

Hey Rich. Yeh sure is with a bit of a LUT added :) I love the GoPro when it’s all working. Its slowly getting it more stable in not freezing..Mountain Biking really pushes its limits..

I’m assuming this must be Redlands as you don’t answer anyone asking which trails these are. I like others do not recognise any of them and Redlands are the only one’s I haven’t done (I think)

I didn’t mean it to be a point scoring exercise, merely trying to highlight the growing conflict between mountain bikers and walker’s., I speak from the perspective of the Peak District.
As Ebikes get more popular, their will be the inevitable clash of cultures , the Police will then be forced into taking a more robust approach to riding on private land.. if you’ve ever been hit by a 20 kilogram plus bike travelling at speed whilst walking the dog you’ll understand why .

As 20kg Ebikes are normally ridden by people 70-90kg, I doubt the extra 5kgs will make a lot of difference to the time spent in hospital - 100 total kgs hitting you will make a very similar mess to 95.
And yes I have been hit by an Ebike - my own, flying through the air and landing on me.
In recent interviews I have seen, the bike industry think that eventually all bikes will be Ebikes, except those sold for comps.
As always, everyone can play nicely together, with a bit of tolerance and understanding.

So what good do the forestry commission doing, in the new forest near me all they do is cut down trees, getting harder to ride mountain bikes round here, going to have to become a criminal

@@TheBikePilot bit to far for me to travel for a day, we used to have a lil closed off bike park here with North shore stuff ect the forestry commission didn't maintain it so they cut it all down and put nothing back to replace it, takes the piss gunna start taking the dirt bike out there
