The arrival of spring will naturally cause colony expansion and storage limitations. If the brood nest spans both boxes, you should absolutely NOT reverse, as you would break up the nest and that's a losing proposition.
If the queen fails to move downward to access open brood frames for egg laying, overcrowding becomes a major issue leading to potential swarm preparations. The goal in reversing brood boxes is to switch the position of the boxes so that you move the brood nest to the lowest point in the hive.
Since the bees now have a place for storage and expansion, reversing the boxes tends to delay and/or prevent swarming. Thank you for watching, please don't forget to SUBSCRIBE. New videos every week. Thank you🐝

Hi 😃, I have a question on that last part you said remove a upper box with the Quinn and move it and introduce a Quinn to the bottom box? I hope i understand it correctly .
And last thing when you split those two boxes do you add any extra Supers on top or bottom or not? If you have a full video on that I would be thankful to see it.
    Great video ✌️

You can do it either way but I usually leave the older queen in the bottom box and move the split box and requeen with the new caged queen. I do put suppers on before the honey flow. Thank you 😊

Good video. That hive will make you a lot of honey. You will harvest the nuc in two weeks or three?

Thank you Russell. Bees look pretty good this year. I will start working on splits and nucs probably next week depending on the weather.

Do you have any early splits with a successful mated queen brooding up so fast they could swarm again if you miss putting another box on? I and having a super swarm year due to early warm
    weather in NC.

Multiplying is something that bees are very good at. We always have to stay ahead of them especially when we have extra swarming season. Splitting and giving them more room is a way to delay and prevent swarming. In a year that we have super swarm activity I split multiple times and use 2/3 brood frames plus food instead of full splits in regular seasons. Thank you Patrick
