this is by far the best video I found on how to replace this hose fitting. Thank you very much! After spending $26.85 on a new hose fitting and $6.99 on the hose quick disconnect tool set (Harbor Freight Tools has the cheapest and yet the best I found), I was able to get my truck back on the road in about 25 minutes. The dealer wanted $235.00 for this job and the tow company would have cost me around $85 to get the tuck to the shop. Man, what a savings this video was for me, I am eating steak for dinner tonight ;)

Mechanic was going to charge me over $900, saying it was the HVAC needing to be replaced, and said they were no shortcuts that could be done to fix it, but something didnt feel right...Glad I decided to do my homework first...after I viewed your video along with several others, solved the issue for only $10...Thank you...you are the Truth

I discovered a small leak on that very connector on my 04 Sierra. Just squeezing the metal clip made it snap off!
So after changing my shorts, I googled plastic heater core 04 gmc and you came up, thank you for this, saved my night, and my truck, I thought I was about to replace a heater core!! Thank you again!!

Perfect vid.. I caught hell getting it off my 2002 GMC Envoy, even w/the disconnect tool.. I ended up carefully breaking it off away from the metal post by the firewall.. I put the hose the connector on w/2 clamps first, then attempted to reconnect it to the metal post & it would not go on easily.. I thought, "what am I doing wrong" came back to the vid & saw that you said to LUBRICATE the fitting 💡.. Went on w/ease after a light spray of WD40.. all is working like a charm again, 👍👍.. thank you Sir!!

This video was a life saver! My nephews truck overheated and coolant was pouring out the bottom. Found the leak, took one simple google search for this video to come up, drove to Auto Zone (that part was the trickiest; some part numbers or more detailed part description might help. We keep pausing the video to show the guys. We ended up having to find the parts ourselves), back to the Waffle House where the truck was and we had it fixed in 15 minutes. You are a savior! So appreciative of those who take the time to make videos like this, helping others. 🙌🏻

Mine broke today on my 2011 Chevy Colorado. I just removed the metal clip in the plastic housing that connects to the heater core using a screw driver and then removed the rest of the broken plastic that was left in the heater hose and re attached the heater hose back to the heater core using a stainless steel clamp. Going to do the other side of the heater core in the morning.

For some of us who didn't find quick disconnect tools useful, please just use small knife ang cut over the plastic a lot easier than trying to figure out how to make quick disconnect engage the broken part. Also when all the anti-freeze drains out all nasty stuff might clog your heater core, so you may end up flushing your cooling system.

I just replaced the coupler on my 2000 Silverado 1500.. the hardest part I had was getting the coupler off and i had a heck of a time trying to get the coupler tool all the way in to depress the tabs. I was afraid of using too much force and possibly break the heater core tubing. I just bypass the fitting and put the hose straight on the heater core then secured it. The connector just seems to be a middle man . Maybe it's not the by the book way but the connector seems like and extra piece that tends to break.
