I've commented on the Mitch/Kirstin blend many times but it's never been so highlighted as it was in this song. This group is just sooo so special.

This is definitely Mitch's song. The best contra/counter tenor out there today. I don't know if anyone has noticed that Mitch hits the same notes that was done by Charlotte Church during her rendition of the song. Absolutely beautifully done. Love your reactions and subscribed previously.
Hello Adam. Thank you for this reaction. This is a beautiful video and a stunning rendition of this song - The Prayer. Giving a message of hope for us all. Pentatonix never disappoints. All five of them are masters of their craft - you had said this when reacting to their Amazing Grace video, if memory serves well, and you are so right. They are masters of their craft - individually and collectively. For this song there was skillful and perfect placing of each member in the arrangement. Mitch at the start and throughout owned this song with conviction, vocal clarity, the notes he hits and holds, his runs, his vibratos, his timing and his precision. Scott with his operatic presentation strong and convincing in linguistic detail. Kirstin with her belting power notes. Matt on the consistent bass undertone. Kevin on the strong and well-timed vocal percussion. The rich vocals, the tones, the duets, the call and response, the layering, the harmonizing, building to the crescendo and PTX wall of sound, and then the clarity piercing through again. Superb performance by Pentatonix. Thanks for the reminder that is all voices. A capella at its very best. Pentatonix deserves a Grammy for this.
My husband and I drove 5 hrs one way to see them in concert about a month ago on Dec 12, 2021. I’f you ever get close enough to see them pay the price cuz it is so worth it.

Had to come back to see your reaction again. Superb reaction Adam - you captured every essence of the performance perfectly! Please do more PTX. You should react to the live version of The Prayer on iHeart Radio Christmas Special or from their recent tour, many fan videos on line. Just wonderful to hear them do this live. In one of the performances on tour Mitch actually adds in extra vibratos and runs - I know this because I listened to the recorded version every day, several times a day, when it first came out and I know it by heart, so when I heard the live performance I picked up the extra flourishes. Kirstie hit her vibrato exactly. Scott flawless in the Italian. Kevin just sounding like an entire drum set. Matt so warm and deep underneath it. Amazing talent!
This was sooo special. A new PTX favorite for me(I have had many). It's hard to imagine anything better from them but I have felt that way before and they outdo themselves. They keep raising the bar. Grammy I hope.

Adam, thank you for continuing "the journey down the rabbit hole" which is Pentatonix. I agree with your assessment regarding their use of dynamics within their arrangements. The collaboration between themselves and Ben Bram is unique. The way they build to their signature "wall of sound" can be extremely moving.
When I first watched this video I was in awe after the first two lines of Mitch, when Scott came in my hand was covering my mouth and when they all came together I cried up to the end of this beautiful masterpiece.

I love this reaction to this song the best, I am addicted to this song, the duets, the licks, the belts from Kirstie, but mostly, the chords they hold in the climax and finish, the way the harmonies cause my heart to feel squeezed in the most ecstatic way. I have been obsessed off and on with this group for years.
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. Love the Mitch showcase. Still shocks and inspires. And we definitely need more baritone Scott... Italian or not. Kirstie’s power, Matt’s underlying bass, Kevin’s driving percussion.....as much as I loved the original this is my new favorite because, as you said, it’s a cappella. Come all ye Faithful; God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen; Deck the Halls; 12 Days of Christmas; You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch and Carol of the Bells, just to mention a few...but seriously, start with their second Grammy award winner “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy” a perfect way to start the season!

I love your reactions. I have a hard time expressing the joy this group gives me, but you nail it.
This outdoes the original version with Andrea Bocelli/Celine Dion's version both for production (to be fair, they simply stood and sang) but also for vocals. Five people making as much sound as the orchestra and the singers, but also telling the story. Far more inspiring. I love Andrea Bocelli and have for years, but this version upgraded from the original. Scott is singing in Italian and Mitch is actually translating again like the original. And don’t forget they will do this live on tour. One thing especially good about PTX is they never record anything they can’t do live. This was the first song released on their newest album "Evergreen" for the Christmas tour 2021. This is not really a Christmas song but PTX made it work as one with the set.

Kirsten is Gorgeous & Her voice is so powerful. And Matt & Kevin bring it all together beautifully! I have loved " The Prayer" for many years but this Pentatonix cover is Fantastic & Magical ..

Oh my I loved your reaction to this. This should have been up for a Grammy this year or should be up for next years Grammy. It was so absolutely amazing. I can't even imagine listening to any other version of this song now. Have you listened to their version of Carol of the Bell on the Christmas Under the Stars special. It is amazing and Mitch, oh my gosh his breath control was unbelievable.

They are the best group EVER!
The sound stuns you somehow blocking it the amazing cinematography. The bass line is perfect. The percussions and other sounds to fill in and the ability of each to harmonize in the background... Again stunning. Oh and before I forget the lead voices are spectacular by themselves but with all of the selfless background work that blends so well it's almost taken for granted they definitely check their egos at the door to make these videos. Do they always use the same cinematography do you know?
You almost just need to give them a moment of silence when reviewing.

There have been lots of recommendations and I was looking to see if "Thank you" from last year's Christmas album has been mentioned. I'm happy to watch all the recommendations, but Thank You is a little gem that will tug at your heart strings too. And I'm hoping that coming back to PTX will help you get over your health woes.

WOW!!! That says it all about this incredibly talented group. They never disappoint and their harmonies, bass and duets were just beyond beautiful. Mitch leading this was absolutely the tight move and his voice always just hits me in the heart. Fantastic reaction, Adam, and am so glad you are feeling better. Loved your heartfelt "Thank _you_ !!" at the end. This is such an amazing rendition. MItch was lovely, wasn't he? And Scott coming in with that incredible rich tone. The marvellous little duet between Mitch and Kirstin - it was like she was amplifying what he was saying. Kevin's an entire orchestra of percussion - beautiful, subtle cymbal sizzles and amazing tympani fills. And Matt was bone-shakingly deep and heart-throbbing. Props to Ben Bram for another wonderful arrangement.

Absolutely love your reaction/reviews of PTX. It would be wonderful if you would review some of their evolution video's, because they are different from the music video's you've been reviewing. Music video's are tweaked and perfected in the studio by talented Producer's and Engineers giving all groups and bands that polished quality.
Give a listen to the Evolution of Michael Jackson for instance, where it's just the 5 of them in front of a couple of mic's mashing up 10 or 12 clips of MJ's songs in one take with no cuts, or beaks, or vocal clean-ups in the recording. Only then can you truly appreciate the amazing raw talent of these artist's.
