Denmark is expensive, especially Copenhagen. Reffen food market is not that expensive, but normal restaurants are. You can make a picnic in one of the many parks and even enjoy a beer or a glass of wine, if you want. We don't have any open container law.
But public transport can be done cheap, there are many options, for god’s sake, don't take a Taxi. Search CZcams for transport in Copenhagen. Lots of videos.
Most museums and castles are in a reasonable price range.
Accommodation can be expensive. In city center it is, but many things are in walking distance. You could look for places further out. Look for one close to Metro, S-train or bus. It takes "no time" to the city center.

It's not like that at all, they are all doing it, it's a part of their culture, the schooling system and upbringing, what you may perceive as weird, eco friendly and new is actually very traditional for them. A different mindset oriented towards nature, hiking and swimming, preservation of nature and living surroundings and taking good care of people goes without a question as a default.

Yet 100x more Indians (per relative ratio) die from air pollution each year. It's about what sample size you compare. Sure, if half the world went back to live in the woods we would also cut CO2 drastically - but relative to the technological level, Danes produce far less CO2 than the average equally developed nation (of which there aren't many).
