Next time you have to send a cable down that mast, do yourself a favor and drag a piece of Jetline or similar through and leave it in the conduit. Next time, use that to drag the new cable through, with a new piece of Jetline to be left in place. Really makes things easier in the long run to always have a piece of line in places like that for the next pull!
Awesome idea. Thanks for sharing. I just learned something new today
Yep, spot on, electricians do this all the time. Makes things so much easier.
I'm sorry but what is a jetline ? Thanks in advance for your answer
Yeah my thought exactly. That's how network installation is done mostly, when you have several floors and need to pull UTP cables and fibre etc from time to time.
It's never a true blue, certified UMA video without the 'CHEERS'. Thanks Kika and welcome back. :-)
This was THEE most impressive CZcams video I've ever seen. Not only did you climb the mast in high winds. But you installed all that equipment up there while filming the process at the same time. Unbelievable. You have a fan for life in me. WELL DONE!!! All the best, Jim Andersen, Cat Boat Adventures, Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts
Thanks mate! We'll try to send some sunshine you way. Have a great Holiday.
Hey another great presentation Terry the Navy Photographer here. Besides being and old salty Navy guy I sold tools starting in 1985 with Snap On and then Mac Tools long story on the switch. The way you explain everything is outstanding I had over 30yrs selling tools and equipment and explaining features and benefits I would of thought you had years of training. The way both of you work as a team is most amazing. I would think at this point companies would be knocking your Hatch down to hire both of you. Keep it up I'm totally interested in all your fine work and I know its work. Smooth sailing Terry.
Don't worry Dan, you've been down south so long you've climitized. I have to say my first edmonton winter that quickly follow a spring and summer in Afghanistan royally sucked lol. One late night on the phone my wife complained about the edmonton heat at 34 degrees Celsius. I was standing in the desert with sweat pants and a hoodie shivering at 36 degrees Celsius at 3 am. The previous day was high 50s low 60s. Its amazing what your body will adjust to. You'll get used to the chill again lol
I'll be coming to Florida to collect your passport as well as your skates. We'll leave you an electric blanket lol.
You guys are going to love AIS! We set the proximity alarm to 20nm while crossing the ocean, and if a giant ship was going to be within 20 miles of us, we got a nice warning alarm that would bring our attention to it. You can track ships that are way beyond the horizon, giving you all the peace of mind when you can't see ;)
How to Coil Rope, The Proper Way Great Video!
@@directionwood It's amazing how far we have come with editing in a year!
If you stand up in your boate, you see approx 3 nm. A large tall ship, a bit farther, but AIS is great, and a "must" his days.
Wait to you get a transceiver. Ships can see you too!
20 nano metre?
Best choice ever! Since our system change from Raymarine to B&G we will never miss the possibilities of B&G again.
When visiting Greenland and Iceland, take that extra "mile" and visit Nordics (Norway, Denmark; go see Mads, Sweden and Finland). Really nice gear and good to hear you have redundancy i.e. one is none.
We will, but not in the same season, summer up there is way to short to see it all. But we'll head back up at some point into the Baltic for sure!
Yeah, help Mad's to get his boat into the water a bit faster and as long as something is left of the boat from all that sanding!
instablaster
Very pleased to see both of you together again. Your positive attitude is always refreshing.
You are a super guy, smart, super smart. you have a good head on your shoulders. You could always be a teacher if this doesn't work out. But I know you will come out on top. Good sailing.
prepping for greenland and icebergs and fretting about 8c. lol Dan.
That's cold for us Floridians.
You two are pro motion, inspiring and informative and motorvational . Thanks.
I have canadian friend. He is from Quebec. Moved here to The ATL GA. for wk
a yrs ago. It's not the slightest bit out of the ordinary to see him out n bout
wearing a long sleeve tee shirt & shorts when it's in the 30's, No shit! However the
summers here , absolutely woop his ars!! It's hilarious. Amazing how humans adapt
to the climate they have to endure. Congrats on all the new equipment!
What is great about the radar (I have B&G 4K Radar) is that you can put up a safety zone that gives an alarm if anything enters it - really helpful at night or day if you want to take a quick nap. in terms of interpreting radar - best is to overlay it with your chart - makes it easy to identify targets
Hi! About the icebergs, unless the ice is wet, it’s actually a bad reflective surface, so don’t expect cristal clear targets as you would have with rocks and be careful as the radar might not pick up smaller pieces of ice... that could still do some nasty damage while sailing...
Yay! You guys are finally able to use that endoscope I sent you! Glad to see it came in handy. Good stuff!
That’s thing is sweet!!! We could never get it to work on our old phone so it just sat there. But works great with the iPhone. I foresee using it all the time!! Thanks again!
When you’re sat at your desk look behind you to your left you can see daylight all the way along going to your chalkboard. Just a little finishing off to your decor. You are probably aware of this, I just wanted to bring it to your attention because you have made an extremely well thought out Refurb to your sailing yacht. Keep at it you two All the best.
Are you talking about the rather yellow-looking lighting strip? Probably LED.
No, you can actually see light though the fiberglass where we reglassed the toe rail and sanded off the old gel coat. It's an area that's supposed to be covered by trim, but since we've been working on the stanchions and such we haven't replaced it yet.
Oh. My bad.
I did kind of think that you were aware of this and can understand that you were leaving it for a reason and this totally makes sense. And trim would finish it off and I’m sure it’s gonna look good. I do like your attention to detail. Your kitchen and bathroom/Head are really quite awesome. I do like your colour scheme And the way you have designed the interior of your Yacht/Home. I’m expecting to see a totally spectacular finished product from you two. All the best for the future :)
Nice installs Dan; huge upgrades! FWIW: Garmin does make a wireless masthead transducer as well, it's called the gWind. I hope you have better success long-term with your wireless sensor than others have reported with theirs. Maybe a long-term follow-up would be another good video. Thanks for sharing.
Great episode guys, it's like the ultimate unboxing for sailboats!
What a great step up in safety and convenience for you guys. Kiki glad you're back.
All those boxes with boat electronics really turns me on. You got all the gizmos now. Can't wait for your first sea-trial. I love electronics and i love sailing just by feeling wind, wave and boat there is a state of mind for both.
You go exactly from the one extreme to the other. Exciting!
Sonicrafter is the best tool in the world!...Wow, look at all those clamps!....The video transitions and editing are amazing!... I've watched every one of your episodes from Step 1 (after I first got hooked at Step 54 - Surviving the Hurricane). It's only a matter of time before I cut ties with the real world, buy a boat of my own, and discover the true meaning of life and living it. You two are an inspiration to all and maybe we'll cross paths some day... Cheers!
Dan, you are fearless at tackling new boat improvement projects. You go at it with all you've got. Reinforcing the fiberglass around the screen was something most people wouldn't trouble with but made your finish work superior. The new wireless wind indicator was very cool indeed. Really enjoyed this video!
I was a Radarman in the Navy and surprisingly you'll get very good at radar navigation if you can pick out land points on Navionics....
I agree with you about Garmin. Had a automotive GPS that I hooked up to my pc to add some updates ( that was working fine, I had just used it), upon reinstalling it to the truck it wouldn’t work at all. I called Garmin about the update and they said the update was good and it’s obvious the GPS need replacing and they couldn’t help me. I guess they don’t want my money, it’s to bad that GPS was ok.
Hey Dan the Canadian (actually you should be Dannie, right? ;-) ) I really like the way you explain your projects and thought processes. Really helpful. You and Matt the Grand Rapidian both explain your projects quite well. Enjoy your new gear!
as a Canadian who's boat is on the hard for the winter, harbour is frozen and the windchill has been close to minus 20C, no sympathy, But if you are going to visit Greenland you should stop by our province, PEI, water will be around 22-25C in mid summer shorts all summer and no fog
Good choice on choosing B&G and all the equipment from one company. If having a problem in the future, tech support can easily help. Cheers Kika, and Safe travels.
That was one consideration, but having a comprehensive suit from the same company also unlocks a lot of features you wouldn't get by mix and matching. Networking everything together makes all the difference. For instance our autopilot is self calibrating and constantly adjusting based off the gyro in our compass, reacting to sea state and heal of the boat, rudder angle a boat speed.
It's the humidity in Florida that makes it feel so cold. it doesn't matter how many coats you have on the humidity will carry the cold straight to your skin. The winter I spent in Central Florida was the coldest of my life. Up north a coat blocks out the cold. You should have tried a plastic wind breaker suit that doesn't breath with warm clothes underneath.
It's good to see the radar has a simple plug in the back for the cable......my ancient Furmno is hard wired with a 12 wire cable.......I had to remove the rotating head and was forced disconnected all the wires with no wiring diagram as the 3/4" diameter cable was buried behind all sorts in the boat and I did not know at the time, duh! The display head has a plug , thanks guys!
Glad to see things have improved in 30 years!
Cheers Warren
Superb videos. Marvelous instruction/teaching. Great spirit! Thank you Dan and Kika!
Nice B-roll at the beginning of the video! Nice work on the boat. Keeping busy while the boss lady is away is good. Stay safe and happy.
Nice job. We had the earlier B&G Zeus setup and loved it. You've got the right idea in playing with your radar. It does take a while to understand how to tune it and what you are seeing. It's much better to use it a bunch in good conditions so you can correlate the blips with your eyes before relying on it in the dark or fog. We could pick up mooring balls so there's a lot going on on the screen.
Also, if you ever want to turn off your AIS transmitter which we did sometimes, the config option was found in a deep submenu of the network menu in the earlier Zeus. Hopefully, it is now easier and instructions are in the manual.
There is actually a "silent" switch you can wire onto the AIS box to shut off the transmitting side, not sure if we'll use it, but cool to know it's there.
Talking icebergs: what kind of heating/stove are you planning to install on your boat? Reflex stoves seem to be very popular for a long time, but since you’ve switched from diesel to electric powered motor I was wondering how you’re going to keep Uma and yourselves warm when you travel up north. 😬
That's a great question! If he got a cold from 8*C, then they will really need a good heat source.
We have been using a Dickinson Diesel heater for 6 years. It kept us warm through blizzards in Baltimore, Maryland, and all our freezing miles of sailing.
Solid fuel. Its organic and sometimes free.
@@devinholland2189 , the problem with solid fuel on a boat is the volume. Diesel is more energy dense.
@@jerryf609 Coal has about the same density.
jerryf609 Solid fuels are messy too. Diesel is the way to go.but not the Eberspacher type as they use to much electricity and can be noisy on a small boat. Insulation makes a huge difference .
Loving you guys... I know this video is 2 years old. However, the next time you need to pull a string through a conduit to pull a wire.... forget the wire snake. Simply use some string with a piece of foam attached to it and suck it though from the other end with a vacuum cleaner. Super fast and easy!
That would work great.... when there isn't already a bunch of wires in the conduit, and you can access the other end. Ours already is packed full of wires, and the bottom is about 3 ft up from the hole at the base of the mast, so we can't do it that way. Hence, the wire snake.
@@SailingUma That makes perfect sense. Cheers to many years of adventures! If you guys are ever around coastal South Carolina (Bluffton), a deep water dock awaits you for as long as you need.
Wise buy guys! I put a B&G suite of electronics in my boat last year and have nothing but praise for it so far!
B&G make a great product. When we bought our boat second hand 20 years ago, we were open minded about which brand to replace the 10 year electronics when they failed. 20 years on, the Raymarine are still going strong. Sure we don't have Bluetooth connectivity etc. but then again we also carry paper charts and use a paper log book to record data every hour when offshore. Forces us to think what we are seeing especially if you are extremely tired. Can recall one crew plotting the fix from the chart plotter and recorded the position of the cursor by mistake - about 3000nm to the west of our true position. What was concerning was he drew a track line on the chart to join up the dots. One feature of our old chart-plotter (yes we have a stand alone modern one that is totally un-integrated from the boat systems) is that it records all navigation data every 30 minutes and logs this. position, wind speed, direction, depth, current etc etc. Haven't found this on any modern chart-plotters other than data loggers than run in parallel - I look forward to being corrected on this latter point. One item you might like to look at is the height of the anchor light. You seem to have obscured quite an arc of the visibility.
Your knowledge is unreal and especially to be able to work it in with all your other equipment!
Never heard of "The land of the midnight sun"?? Iceland is nearly as good with sunset at midnight and sunrise at 3am on the longest day / summer solstice. Next project building a few extra storage cupboards, Dan??
Thanks for another entertaining video guys and welcome home Kika :)
Dan, if you got a cold in Florida and you want to go sailing with the iceburgs you'd better consider bringing on a doctor as crew! LOL! I have B&G on my previous boat you're going to love it! Once question, why didn't you get a self leveling radar mast mount? Your radar will be half useless when you are healed over hard. I had one that was self dampening, it was expensive but well worth it! Good Luck w/ your new gear think you're going to really love it!!!
We'll see how it goes. Many boats don't use them, some do. If it becomes an issue, we can always upgrade.
We love our B&G gear too.
Glad to see you mounted the radar up on the mast. The extra height gives a better angle and makes
small objects like buoys and “bergy bits” much easier to detect.
Exactly!
Sailing Uma I live in eastern Newfoundland and I am sailor
Contact me if I can help you out on your trip North. Great channel.
Sailing Uma putting the dome up high only woks better if the boat (dome) is level. Even a small heel will degrade the radar coverage quite a bit.
Dan's brain is his own quick start guide ☺ I'm on the binge watch and smiling at the 8C as I found out about you guys when you were in Svalbard ... 8C is summer there 😁 Thank goodness for good outer wear ❄❄❄
I'm very envious - B&G looks like a great system. Not sure about the bluetooth connection to the wind transducer or the solar panel power source, but time will tell!
We weren't either, but now after 2 years, it's worked great. No issues at all. The bluetooth puck even works under the deck.
How much does all the gear cost? (Can you itemize the parts you got and cost?)
We chose B&G too and so far quite impressed. I had used Raymarine in past but felt there may be something more user friendly and robust out there. The B&G 4G Broadband radar is a giant leap forward over the old magnetrons. Low power consumption, low start up amps, quick start, no need to wear lead-lined underpants and amazing signal to noise discrimination even at very close range. Do let us know if you find an efficient way of overlaying downloaded grib files on your MFD. That would be cool. We do weather planning on a PC using OpenCPN but thats kind of dumb when there is an awesome 12" monitor sitting in the cockpit with Explorer, Navionics or C-Map charts just begging for some wind arrows. Great vid, thank you, Stew.
I have watched so many of the steps...always very impressed with what you guys can engineer and accomplish ...your skills and ability to bring these projects to completion...so very fun and educational , thanks Dan and Kika
I had a NEXUS wireless windmeter on my mast for nearly ten years. (= now Garmin) and there is also TackTick for more then 10 years... now bought by raymarine...
I love the video's where you are working on the boat. Thanks for including these in your mix of videos.
The snake is called a fish tape. A snake, in hardware terms is used to clean out pipes. Fish tapes are used to run wires and such through conduit (and passages without conduit) because it is flat and is "pushable". A snake is way less pushable and is mostly rotational in its use.
Welcome back Kika. Dan great job on going aloft. To get ready for going North you should be out in the wind with a t-shirt and shorts-lol. Where I live in Oregon it is currently -2C and there are several friends that are working in long sleeve t-shirts and cargo work shorts. They're nuts but they say is helps them acclimate (they also play in the snow). I prefer my high tech long johns and fleece lined wind proof coat for anything under 10C. Yeah I'm with the wimp team!
Have a good weekend.
Nanaimo isn't really the definition of a cold weather city. It's great to watch how much progress you are making on Uma.
Great vid! I have been watching Uma evolve over all the steps. It has become a technilogical and erginolical master piece. A true work of art. Well done you two!
Raymarine also does wireless wind instruments, they are called Tacktick, and they do not even need external power supply. I am happy with Raymarine but I agree with you that B&G is one step beyond when sailing. Thanks for sharing your videos!
Its okay the air feels cold because its 1000% humidity in Florida, your fellow Canadians are use to -C degrees but its a dryer cold
Dan you are so talented, actually you both are. Loved the video and can't wait for the next install!
Some channel I watch had B&G, and it had a feature which I've forgotten but I know is Critical, and that one feature SOLD me on B&G, which is why I can't recall. It Made My Mind Up, and No Further Thought Required.
Gee Dan installing radar to go to Iceland is kind of like a commitment are you ready for that bro? Bwahahahaha
I'm so happy that your getting geared up.... for your safety for sure...
Do it yourself team awesome great work you'll safety first.
If you did't do it, the next time you have to snake a conduit, leave string in the conduit for next time. Any time you pull another line, pull a string too so there is always a string to pull more wires through.
Very interesting video in many ways. I have noticed B&G on most sailboats and growing. Happy Trails
I'm in Vancouver and I'm not mad at you Dan. 8 is winter weather!
That's shorts and suntan weather here in T.O.
-7 today and i saw a ryerson student in shorts.
I find all these sailboat/sailing channels and follow for tips, tricks, recommendations. but I keep coming back for the beautiful women. Welcome back, Kika.
Down ol’boy, down !
I do agree though that Our KIKA is the cutest and brightest girl of them all sailor. Lucky Dan.
didn't know they make a wireless masttop unit... cool info; installed B&G (mixed with old Raymarine) on my boat and I am quite pleased so far.
Nice new gear, this should help make things a little safer for sure!!!
Just an FYI...
This is one of the most persistent myths about colds. The only way you get sick is when you come into contact with a virus. Cold air may irritate a condition you already have.
♥️ from 🇨🇦
how do you know that for a fact? no chance it could be bacteria, pollen, food allergic, just to name a few???
max odgaard ... um.. I’m confused by your reply. The fact is... you DONT get a cold from the cold.
The misunderstanding is caused by the archaic name 'cold'. A viral infection of the upper resp' tract normally has a finite and short lifespan. Bacterial infections can be secondary due to reduced immunity, and would last longer. Allergens and pollutants, likely in a metropolitan area such as eastern Florida, could cause a reaction of indeterminate duration. Viral and allergen mucous is normally clear. Bacterial and pollutant mucous is usually cloudy to opaque. You can google it.
It was HER! She brought a foreign substance back with her to rob you of your super powers! beware......
I was wondering about this.. I saw a more recent episode where he got a cold/sniffles on the boat.. Was wondering how that worked being remote and not around others with a active cold virus.
As a North Norwegian living in Spain, I am not going to point fingers about the 8 degrees being cold or not!
We very much enjoyed watching the installation of your new tech gear, when it comes time to upgrade ours it will be B & G without question. In particular we thought that the wireless windex was a great solution. Cheers.
i would have put dovetail joints in the frame. as it is, you are still relying on the chart plotter glass to maintain rigidity between the vertical and horizontal wooden stringers that make up your frame.
If you’re doing Island, i’ll highly recommend sailing down the Norwegian west coast and check out some of the fjords!
A friend from PEI went to Greenland one summer. His two comments upon returning were Never again, I was cold all the time and I had to replace all the running rigging.
17:50 Its amazing how thin the fiber glass hull is when you see the sun shine trough it ;:-)
Cheers back at you ! Ha ha ....yes Dan, sometime in a CDN winter, 8C is a heat wave ! Ha ha ‼️🤪🇨🇦
The Florida and Caribbean has spoiled you my friend. We will need to get you back up here to acclimatize you to our wonderful winter weather. Safe travels and Fair Winds from Calgary.
Raymarine also has a wireless wind instrument.
Hehe Peter McKinnon intro and coffee... nice
While on your way to greenland, please stop by newfoundland (st.john's) and say hello to me. I'll show you around if I'm able, and take you out to dinner.
I just wanted to let you guys know I'm trying really hard to support you by liking everything but noticed that you have upwards of 70k views but only 4k likes. My suggestion is to tell CZcams (they'll listen to you over me): "there needs to be a mechanism in place where "binge watchers" (like me) have to like or not-like before continuing to the next video". I like you guys so much, I went back and liked EVERYTHING i've watched until here (for that reason, and to keep track where I left off...hmmm, maybe you can tell your "binge watchers" that.) Keep the love comin'. Can't get enough!
haha well, know that your likes are always appreciated 🙂
@@SailingUma I thought the likes helped your youtube algorythm to getting paid. I expected more enthusiasm. my bad. 175 likes from "me" is a record.
Hi guys,
First of all this is my first time leaving a comment here, I've been trying to get caught up with you for about a month now and I'm finally on the same month now, soon to be with you in real time.
My comment- Dan, the wind direction/speed device is called an anemometer. My Dad had one on the roof of our summer home on Martha's Vineyard for as long as we owned the house, combined with a hydrometer (to tell barometric pressure), he was a better weather man than most of the weather guessers on tv.
Kika- Loved the video you did on the Sailing Haiti Race. Too bad the race itself was cancelled. On the other hand, the coverage you gave to 4Ocean was great. They have only started advertising on TV locally within the past month or so here in Florida. I like the fact that they are selling lanyard bracelets made from recycled plastic they take from the water to help fund themselves.
Right now the wind here is blowing at 25 MPH from the south at 82 F.
Good luck and stay warm (Dan, hot tea and honey with a dram of whiskey will help that cold)
I think Kika may have brought that cold virus back from home, you can't catch a cold from being cold or being in cold air. Fabulous upgrade, you must be chuffed with all the new electronics to make sailing safer.
Thanks for sharing! Nice repurpose of your fruit hammock.
...... 8C in the fall can be right cold .... 8C in Feb or March can be a beautiful day, shirt sleeves if there is no wind ..... hey! beginning of december and the first time the high is below zero, 4pm -3 ..... and no snow yet .... Okanagan Life ....... all sorts of new fun stuff that broadens your horizons ....don't think it would be a fun install for you if you didn't have to do some modifications .. smilin ... welcome back Kikka ...... have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
Looking good. Buddy, you work so hard on that boat. Did I miss something? I don't recall having seen the finished head. Maybe you could give a head tour. Also, Kika, I was disappointed that the questions i had regarding the fishing boat regatta were not answered. While I was glad to donate, I wanted to be included, by way of video, during the planning: buying the sails and motors, dates of the races, invitations to area boats to come help and watch, etc. I think this race is something the sailing community would rally around. Haiti needs it, and those who have more would benefit by rolling up their sleeves for their fellow sailors in Haiti.
Top job .. Nice stuf to werk with.. well done Dan,,!!!!
b&g is the right choice for sailing
Hey congrats on the new gear. Your timing again is spot on as I am installing all my new Garmin gear now on my Tiki 38. I too have a wireless wind transducer so one less cable up there to deal with. All Nema 2000 which makes integration with the plotter and sensors pretty easy. I bought the plotter separately on Amazon so I didn't get the Backbone and cable to hook up the plotter but no worries. I should be able to get one shipped in. Still haven't fired up my alcohol stove but looking forward to trying that out too.
Isn’t NMEA 2000 the best invention EVER!?!? Made wiring everything is soooo simple. And our smaller screens are powered by it as well. Didn’t know Garmin made a wireless mast head unit. Good to know.
@@SailingUma Yea really. All the Nema 2000 stuff is so easy. Just one power supply for the whole thing. Trouble is you need all the parts. YOu can't really substitute something else. For example. It looks like the line for my depth transducer might be about 2 feet short. So I will need to get and extension to the backbone to hook into it. Pain in the arse here cuz I can't just run to west marine and grab one. But when it works. It works great!
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing the tech installs!
We went with a B&G 4G radar and Zeus 2 chart plotter a few years ago. I had to integrate it into “legacy” systems like Raymarine wireless wind speed and direction as well as depth, temp and boat speed. Of course it was all NMEA 0183 but the Zeus handled the input nicely and broadcasts it throughout the boat now to iPads, Mac Mini etc. Works pretty good but have never been real happy with their marinized router. I am used to having easier and more complete access to the Router OS and this one is very closed.
Anyhow good luck with your install and one thing I never do, although tempted, is to inter-grate AP with a chart plotter. In an airplane it works great but on the water it is a recipe for disaster. Wind mode and heading work great and keep the person on watch always alert.
Enjoy. We are enjoying your progress
Oooh! Zeus 2! Love these. Did my Skipper training with one of these!
Good ep Dan. I just recently installed a Zeus2 on my boat + the wireless anemometer and triducer and love it. I’ve sailed my boat for 17 years without it, but am really appreciating the upgrade. Nice job on the install. I skipped radar since we don’t live aboard. I am very interested in how your install goes with the pilot as its on my wish list. Anyway, have fun using the new gadgets. Cheers to you both.
Watching this for the 2nd or 3rd time - love the mast climbing socks.
Iv had problems with B&G to complicated rebooting if things go wrong for some reason, Raymarine seems to be the simplest program , Reliable & touch wood no complaints .
Maybe you had an older system? We’ve never had to “reboot” our system. It just works, every time.
Before finishing the video: Oh Dan, I would have liked to do unboxing and installing with you 😊. Great stuff you got.
I love B&G electronics. It's made for sailing, so good choice. Just a little pricey when purchased from Canada as I had a Zeus 2 7" on my first boat. Love the wireless wind technology these days. I'm in Jacksonville this week and it has been cold here as well. :)
I look forward to following your adventures north. Dan ..... you know it's cold near Greenland, don't you? :) . At least you'll know how fast the wind-chill is blowing.
10 Celsius is 50 Fahrenheit - feels colder when it's windy.
Good choice B&G, to be complete Furuno is also supplier for marine and also caters sail yachting equipment.. Still if you want go Iceland / Spitsbergen and these area's SSB might be advisable too.
Hey Dan... love watching you guys. Just an FYI - - Garmin has had the wireless Gwind transducer available since at least 2016. B&G is not the only option there.
