  • The Himalayas span over 2,500 km and are one of the most species-rich regions in the world. These mountain ranges may seem cold, barren and lifeless, but they are a thriving ecosystem encompassing various habitats that support diverse flora and fauna.
Vivek Ramachandran, a researcher from National Center for Biological Sciences, studies small mammals - a group that is often neglected. He specialises in learning about small mammal communities across various ecosystems. With the spectre of climate change affecting habitats across the Himalayas, Vivek thinks it is critical to understand such patterns and processes to safeguard the future of small mammals.
Watch as Team Felis joins Vivek Ramachandran as he samples pikas - small mammals found in high-altitude mountain ranges of the Himalayas.
