Annapurna: Not as Planned

- In October 2022, we set out from Pokhara to cycle the 386km Annapurna Circuit in Nepal. We followed the track that runs parallel to the hiking trail, hoping to cross over Thorong La pass. A late-season weather event delivered days of snow and rain, washed away roads and damaged communications. So despite all our preparation, things didn't quite go to plan...

wooahhhh!!!
As a fellow filmmaker, traveller and lover of Nepal, it is such a pleasure to watch such a beautifully filmed and told story. Amazing work. Tik cha!
Thanks heaps. Really appreciate it.
the shoot, the shots, the edit, the narration all feels so professional ! beautiful journey you had ! Greetings from Nepal
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Ya who needs Hollywood 😊
The adventurous bike trip is awesome, but the photography is even more amazing. 😘😘😘
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you for promoting my country. Foreigners are always welcome to our country Nepal🇳🇵♥️..
Everything is so beautiful, cinematography, narration, the storytelling everything spot on
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed.
Very well shot, you guys made some good choices, well done..
Thanks.
Hands down one of the most beautiful photo/videography of the Annapurna circuit region and the adventure that you guys had . Loved your planning for the trip but the lesson learned here was we can’t fight Mother Nature. All in all , thorough adventure in its wildest form ❤
Thanks. Really glad you enjoyed. Yep, have to go with the flow in the mountains.
Such a great film. What a trip!
Thanks.
I love your attitude to go with the flow and appreciate the beauty of the world around you, sometimes to pause and listen. In the mountains, there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad attitude!🙂 Your film is beautifully shot, I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Love that saying "there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad attitude!". Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed.
To be fair, on a mountain, there is "bad" weather, such as in "dangerous".
This is one of the most amazing videos I've seen, short yet narrative and very inspiring
Good work and all the best for your upcoming adventures👏🏽👏🏽
I organized a group hike to ABC right as the monsoon rains were starting. We got stuck in Kathmandu an extra night and almost missed the hike completely. With some perseverance, rain every day, and good attitudes we made the most of it and made it to ABC. While the views weren’t what we hoped for, there was a deep sense of accomplishment knowing that this might not have happened at all. Great video and another reminder to be thankful for the journey, and not just the destination.
Thanks. Glad you got to ABC. Was a crazy start for the season.
tks for visit and welcome again again again..........
1) nice!
2) nice!

Love you content.
I was in Pokhara at this time (planning my own trip to Mardi Himal) reading and hearing about people who were on the circuit and faced these conditions. It’s amazing to see what it was actually like from a perspective of a biker.
Yep, was crazy conditions for a few days! Hope you got to head to Mardi Himal.

Wow and Wow again. Thank you for the art of this video. If there were no volume I would feel just as inspired as I do now. It's rare these days to see art merge with life and all orchestrated by the creators. Please let this tradition live on ... Okay off the couch and back to work !
Thanks for the kinds words.
What a beautiful adventure with unexpected life lessons. Thank you for sharing your story! ❤️
Our pleasure!
Beautifully crafted footage of a major adventure. Excellent voice-over - Danielle's description of the landslip section was amazingly restrained - this must have been pretty scary in both directions. Mick thanks for the superb filming and editing; fantastic detail close-ups as well as the epic mountain scenes. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks a heap and glad you enjoyed. Appreciate the positive feedback.
Wao

Wow, thank you!
Inspiring story, I totally understand how the weather can change so quickly, I experienced unexpected severe weather conditions here in Japan on my last bikepacking trip. Keep safe!
Thanks. Yep, part of being in the mountains.
Thanks mate for sharing. You have another calling in life as a film documentary guide. I hope to get back to Tas in 10 years and do a trek around the State with you if you still have the knees and the ankles for it

Beautiful, I love Nepla, hiked there years ago. This made me want to return.
Glad you enjoyed. Like you, I can't wait to return.
massive respect for that work which involves so much of grit. your tele lens added so many close up shots which are kind of adding variety to the visuals. live your life full. thanks
Thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed.
great stuff, thanks for sharing this guys
Cheers.
I got so deep into the video that I was not expecting it to end so fast. Well thanks for visiting Nepal and making videos leaving behind the fact that you might have faced a lot of difficulties. Hope you'll visit again. Love from Nepal
Glad you enjoyed. Will be back one day for sure!
What an adventure! My wife and I hiked Langthang over the pass and by the sacred gorsaikunda lakes back in 2010. We had a similar experience with the snow... we were hiking at a time when it didn't usually snow, but right as we approached the pass a freak snow storm blew in and covered the pass. It felt so surreal and beautiful! We ended up making it through somehow... mostly thanks to a kind guide from someone else's group that gave us some direction and advice (thanks Hari!!).
If I could do it again, I'd slow down and enjoy the journey more. We were pretty nervous and focused on pushing hard each day... but it would have been fun to dwell more in all the towns and tea houses along the way. Someday we'll go again maybe 🙂
Like you, we hope to go back one day. Part of the beauty of the mountain is that they are not predictable. Great to hear your experience.
Thank you so much for sharing your unforgettable experiences and insights.
Glad you enjoyed.
Mad respect and love! This is pure art.
Thanks, greatly appreciate it.
loved the video!! superb adventure!
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers.
Beautiful! Loved the narration, story. I also became very un-cozy at the idea of pushing a bike across the slip, especially with snow. That is some serious pucker factor.
Truely amazing experience, it must have been one hell of a ride!
Thanks. It was!
love the narration.hope you enjoy your adventure
Thank you, was a great trip.
What a beautiful film! Things not always go as planned, specially when Bikepacking we’re exposed to the forces of nature. Cheers
Thanks. Yep, that is part of being out in nature.
I like short adventure videos as something you can quickly view and enjoy. This was a video I wished was longer. Very well put together and a great adventure even if not all went to plan. Definitely made the correct choice as well.
Thanks heaps. Hope we can return one day.
Such a beautifully shot film of a wonderful adventure. Loved your outlook on it all
Thanks. Appreciate it.
A tough trip beautifully filmed. Well done both :)
Thanks. Bit of type 2 fun!
I have watched tons of travel vlogs but your vlog has pure quality content. I really appreciate your work❤️. I also make some vlogs whenever i get some time from my job, so i can understand your great effort and dedication level.🙏🙏🙏
Wow!!!!!!!! This is a beautiful video! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!
Fantastic. Thanks for the video.
Glad you liked it!
wonderful pictures - when we did the annapurna circuit the other way round in the mid 90s it was a lot less roads then and we still planned to do it with the bikes after Ladakh, Madagaskar, Peru, Ecuador and Chile trips - but diuring the planning stage I read an old lonely planet report on the annapurna tour ridiculating my plans with the suggestion to rather carry a bathtub over the pass because thet at least would have some use - and that turned us off the plan!! I think with the roadbuilding gone on a lot these days it would be different but still ...... your film made me planning again this time perhaps with my son
Thanks. I really hope you get the chance to head there with your son.
Absolutely love the quality of this documentary, your subscriber count should have at least 2 digits extra. Thanks for sharing, for me, having lived in Nepal for a few years and having raced the Yak Attack from KTM over the Annapurna pass, it's a trip down memory lane as well. And in case you need a little push to go back, Tilicho Tal is one of the most amazing places I've ever seen ;-)
Cheers. So keen to head back one day. Such an amazing place.
Just saw your Thumbnail and I was sure it's gonna be good but it turned out to be Amazing ! Good luck :)
Amazing journey and well edited and put together. Thank you for sharing:)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Mick! We came through about a month after you. Just a magical part of Nepal. THanks so much for sharing and the great work with the GH5 :)
Awesome! Thank you! Such a stunning place.
Wow! Such a beautifully crafted film and philosophical perspective.
Thanks Kym.
Great video Mick, looks like an awesome adventure. Pity about the weather but you made the right and safe decision. Fantastic editing and production. Neville suggested that I give it a watch 👍
Thanks Aaron. Just looking at your stuff now - some great content.
I was there in April. It was heavenly.
