Tio, our Maori document is called Te Tiriti 3 paragraphs long, the pakeha version is called the treaty. So much controversy re: 1840 Treaty, should be scrapped & let's go back to the original document He Whakaputanga 1835 signed by the King.

DOI Article 4, "...... they entreat that he (The King) will continue to be the parent of their infant State, and that he will become it's protector from all attempts upon its Independence". The DOI 1835 was the forerunner to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, has a flag to symbolize Tribal Rights to trade as Independent Nations. Has been ignored for years by the NZ parliament and the education system.

1835 was a gift from the christians recognized by king William and ratified as a legally binding document from the house of Lords and the house of Commons
1840 are the principals of 1835 known in it true identity as the doctrine of discovery it is very important to use it true tittle so there can be no discrepancy and Maori can now draw in the pop as a witness to the doctrine of discovery as well as Charles the king of England who can also verify that the 1840 document is not just the principals to 1835, it is also a peace treaty between Maori and also an invitation to pakeha to manage our assets untill we are no longer in our infant state, to prove to the world that we are no longer in our infant state WE MUST AMEND 1835.
    THANKS
    Ko Pomare ahau

Te Tiriti o Waitangi (TOW) 1840 (Non-Territorial) is just an amendment to the DOI. On the 6th of February 1840 prior to the signing of the TOW, the Chiefs, exercising their powers under Article 2 of the DOI, gave to the Queen these people, they ceded sovereignty over the British subjects to the Queen of England, also noted in Articles 1 & 2 of the TOW

David Lange said this in 1980. "The Treaty of Waitangi was forged in a time when categories mattered, we don't live in that world anymore." In 1973 the UK abandoned NZ for the EEC. NZ went broke overnight. Modernity died. The categories that Lange spoke about are the absolute moral categories of the Bible that are rooted in the Method of Antithesis in human reason process whereby intellectual certainty is guaranteed. It was not practiced consistent with these categories. In our current Postmodern Post-Christian day interpretation of anything is a matter for the individual. There is no universal truth, just what I think. Furthermore the Treaty ignored those that watch both signatories arrive.

Such a document as the treaty is meaningless when approached by individual clauses. It is same as other contracts in that the various clauses make up a whole . I have struggled so often over the years with union members and employers trying to use an individual clause to represent the whole, this is sometimes done in innocence but often with a more sinister intent. As far as the treaty is concerned Maoridom ceded any sovereignty for equality. The treaty was only ever going to offer that else the latter day colonists would not have come, people who were escaping the old class systems of Europe.

When did we cede anything? Like all colonial empires they lie, cheat and murder to get what they want. What happened to the maori chief's that didn't sign TOW? I certainly don't think our corrupt corporatocracy you call a government has any concern for the people. They had a coupe de'tat in 1986 and crowned themselves sovereign and this country has just gone with it. Nu Tereni government is the De jure Government of New Zealand and He Whakaputanga was not superceded or ceded by TOW and still holds significant power in our country and overseas.

1 minute in and you're already talking rubbish. The littlewood version is the one translated to maori. The 2 differences are the date 4th Feb. and maori inserted instead of people as the settlers were already citizens. Which makes the tribunal corrupt in their dealings, because the English version they have with forest and fisheries in it is fake. Maori ceded sovereignty.

Thats what you said? But its not what we meant.
That's what you wanted. But its not what we wanted.
You cling to this make belief idea that we did cede sovereignty through miscommunication of two different languages and meaning.
Actions speak louder than words hence Hone Heke in 1845 disrespectfully and violently cut the british flag down to insult and terminate the treaty. It symbolizes firstly that he did not cede sovereignty and you do not have authority over us our culture and our land. Theres no miscommunication of cutting down the flag to insult your Queen Victoria and british millitarry meaning we did not cede sovereignty. This false idea of such is all you pakeha desperately have to hold and cling onto. Shameful!

Ok. What was on the mind of the British and what was on their heart for a Treaty with Maori in 1840. I see that it was to bring protection, Law and Order for all inhabitants of New Zealand. The British had to have Sovereignty so that they could bring "common Law". Then then had right to Govern this land.
The problem as I see it is. That Maori now! have a different view of what the te tiriti and the English version say. For New Zealand "now" to move on, we need to come to a compromise. Otherwise we will always have a problem.

It sounds good and fair bro but tbh, te tiriti gave Maori everything. They reserved and preserved their tino rangatiratanga and also got rights as British citizens under article 3. Te tiriti didn’t do much for British or settlers. Although they did soon after set up a government and excluded Maori from it. The govt they set up is illegal because it was never agreed to in te tiriti. Te tiriti only have kawanatanga which translates to governorship not government or governance. So we live in a deluded and convoluted world where the settlers rule and some Maori follow along with it to keep the peace and some even love thre world we now live in. But many are disenchanted and disenfranchised. Maori are searching for ways to live better in alignment with what their soul calls for, what their tupuna call for. Te tiriti allows us an avenue to leave this system and set up new system based around tikanga Maori but also probably some good aspects of the English system. Because it’s not all bad. I could go on but to conclude I reckon we use te tiriti to escape this illegal govt and start afresh.

It was to bring law and order to lawless greedy Pakeha that starting arriving to NZ thinking they had land they'd paid the thieving Wakefields.
The Government is a fraudulent entity illegally operating on our shores because Pakeha outnumber Maori now.
The road to equality is long and twisted but it will eventually occur.
