  • How much does it take to break a MicroSD card and which one survives the torture? I took 10 cards to the test.

    Probably should have sandwiched them between 2 boards. I think that the pebbles in the road probably killed them.

      Yeah i think so too. They broke because of the uneven surface they're placed on. especially those pebbles

    I would like to know how long a memory card with data inside would last stopped, in an environment protected from humidity how long for the data to disappear from the card?

    If you run more 'durability' trials... I suggest a 'real world' test; running them with a load of laundry, both washer & dryer. All & all, flash memory is pretty robust stuff, it's what they now use in aircraft data recorders. Of course, that memory is very well armored and thermally insulated. Most (but not all) data from those recorders is recoverable, even after extended water soak periods. Their worst issues are recorders subjected to long term severe fire. Outright mechanical damage gets a few others, but all considered their overall performance is stellar!

    Hey Tom, good tech info. Living in a cold Canadian winter climate we experience electro static shock with the dry climate. I'd be curious to know if the cards are affected when subjected to a static shock.

    Yet again, another informative video, thanks. I can't think of many electrical components which would stand the weight of a car driving over them. I was however, surprised of the heat and cold test.

      @@locouk Driving over isnt even a good idea because there are many variables that could affect the end result, the way the tyre rolls over the card, the way the card is positioned etc. The best is to use a hydraulic press.

  • @darkracer1252
    @darkracer1252 Před 4 lety +1

    ofcourse they died from the car driving over it. and it's not because of the weight.
    the road was so uneven that you just twisted them. snapped the traces. ofcourse they don't work if you compromise the electronics inside.
    that said. if you took a micro soldering set and knew what you were doing. you could STILL recover the data.

    • @ethang105
      @ethang105 Před 6 lety

      Kenneth A it doesn't depend on the drone but the card. If you have a 8 gb card (that is what the drone comes with) then your storage capacity is 8 gb and so on

    • @ibragimov2
      @ibragimov2 Před 6 lety

      no, I mean the highest capacity P3S can handle. just like with phones... some phones are just expandable up to 32gb of external storage.
