- A judge has sentenced a former Colorado police officer to 14 months in prison after the officer was convicted in the killing of Elijah McClain. This comes after a jury found the officer guilty of criminally negligent homicide on third-degree assault.

Ridiculous. This criminal deserved closer to 20 years in prison. This injustice system we have to live with is failing the citizenry.
Sucks to be you. Maybe take better care of your children if you don’t want them to die.
A cop can murder the someone & only receive 1 year. But if a cop is murdered the criminal will be sent to prison for life or be placed on death row why not the same justice?

Nothing to see here, A beautiful life worth only a year in prison for this coward. The judge should be Disbarred. Then deported.
He deserves a much longer sentence. His actions resulted in a young innocent man being executed. This is not justice.
It will be interesting to see how much time this ex-cop actually does.. And another question is how the new police chief in Aurora will manage a department that is absolutely devoid of any trust from the community...

I was in the courtroom for this, and while of course this isn't enough time, it's worth noting that the judge really did give what was essentially the maximum. His hands were tied at a max of 3 yrs DOC, and he explained that you earn good time in DOC, you can parole, and he would also be eligible for community corrections. In jail there is no good time, no parole and no ComCor option. But again, of course this isn't enough.
what was the work release mentioned? will he spend 14 months in jail or less?
@@robbyddurham1624 oh yes, that part is almost forgotten about. He will spend 14 months. But work release will be from the get-go. So the whole time he will be able to leave and go to work
