🔥 Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on CZcams yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet...

Could you tell me, please, if doing this with 2 ply baby wool which size hook would you use? I absolutely love this.
That wool you're using is gorgeous!
I'm a beginner does it matter if u place the double crochet in the big part of the stitch or does it have to go in smaller top part of the stitch?? Just wondering what difference is...
So easy! Thank you so much for sharing 🧶🌸♥️
These patterns are easy to understand. I. Was watching another crochet video and the author said she couldn't count her stitches for fear of getting the video pulled. I think is a bunch of rubbish.roin you are a great teacher and you make the patterns simple. Keep on trucking.
Without a doubt, you are the first person that I have watched that was completely understandable!! Thanks for that. I’ve been crocheting for years and wanted to add some new fresh stitches to my brain file!! You got a 10+ for clarity! I have watched a bazillion and none were as good at explaining as you are!
How kind of you, what a wonderful comment - thank you so much!🥰😃
Same and i learn it after 10 mins after watching the video
Same! I've got brain damage from injuries and get frustrated easily now, memory issues etc. And I had no trouble following along!!
The same, easy to follow and so understandable.
Thank you so much. Do you have tutorials for the whole baby blankets?
Soo true
I am going to try this stitch when I get home. I love all your videos. You go slow so I can see how to stitch step by step. You have the best crochet channel on CZcams.
Thank you so much Meredith! 🥰🤗
🤣🤣the best way to learn,as I go along, remember the stitches to the back they get double crochet, the one popping towards you,are front post double crochet, that’s how I got it done 😂😂thank you so very much
😅 You’re so welcome!
I totally agree with Redness43..clear , concise, slow enough ..great
Thank you so much!🥰🤗
Hun, the way you describe what to look for when we need to find where to put stitches is SO clear and useful!
Thank you so much!
Keep it going!!!
🍀🍀👏
Thank you so much! 🤗🧶
I agree. Great instructions. I'm a former knitter. Would like to learn simple crochet stitches to make baby blankets to donate. Thank you so much.. Now just need to pick a pattern. From northern NY
Robin, your instructions are so clear and precise; following you is so very easy and satisfying. Thank you for sharing your skills
After learning the basic stitches this was the first project I took on as a new comer to crochet. I had a easy time following the directions and ended up with a beautiful blanket. I get compliments on it all the time! Thank you again!
I have made several afghans with the waffle stitch & I prewash them before I gift them so they are extra cuddly. I have done so many since I needed a refresher course! I seriously forget some stitches/patterns. You do a great job at showing how to do all your vids & yours are easier to pick up on than many others. I am well into the next project following your tutorial for it, it's a bigger yarn eater than this one is so I went back to the store & bought the last 4 skeins of yarn they had in my soft white!
Thank you so much Rian, I’m so glad my videos have helped!😃
Just love watching all your videos so easy and clear to follow. I have always wanted to do this stitch and now have started a baby blanket after watching this video, thank you so much. Keep your beautiful videos coming ❤. Cheers Lynette.❤
Thank you so much Lynette!🥰🤗
I don't know why I ever watch anyone else's tutorials! I've seen this stitch shown a few times and thought it's just above me still. Once again, I see you explain and show it and I'm ready to rock and roll!!💜💜💜
Thank you so much Felicia! That is so kind.🥰🤗
Thank you so much for breaking things down so exactly. I just started crocheting. I learned the basics as a little girl from my great-grandmother. I remember just being absolutely mesmerized watching her little hands work furiously on projects, being amazed as the yarn became something beautiful and intricate. I never thought I could do what she did. But here I am, watching your tutorials and actually connecting with her even though she's been gone for 30 years. Thank you for giving me this wonderful gift. I'm sharing this with my family in the form of blankets and they love them. I'm physically chained to my bed as I am unwell and have been feeling depressed and useless, you've brought me back to life in a way and I couldn't be more grateful. Keep the tutorials coming they're fantastic!! Take care of you♡
Good for you.
❤
I love your videos and how clear the instructions are. I also appreciate when you leave in the oops moments we all have no matter how experienced we are.
Thank you so much Dana! 😃🥰
Thank you so much for explaining the process so clearly. You are the first person that I have understood and have actually had a piece of work that looks like a piece of work not a great ball of knotted wool😊
That makes me happy to read, I’m so glad the video helped.😃
Thank you showing us all your waffle stitch so easy it took me about 3 try’s but I got it
Thank you again
This stitch would make a lovely textured pillow cover
THANK YOU. I've tried 2 other videos, and have ripped out my 6x6 swatch at least 5 times. Your video got me thru it. Very well done.....you have a new follower.
Thank you Karen and lovely to have you here!😃🥰
I love watching your videos because you go slow enough to where I can see and hear how to do each step. Your the only one I could follow to make a waffle pattern. Thank you so much. I know how to make one now.
Awwh, you’re so welcome Nora and thank you for your kind words.😃🥰
Thank you for this waffle stitch. I am a beginner crocheter, and this seems to be a stitch I could handle. Also, I am left handed, watching videos helps me to reverse the process. So good of you to offer left hand videos too!
i am also a left-hander,just can't seem to get into more complicated patterns
Nice stitch! The texture gives warmth to finer yarns (although it does use a lot of it). The colors of your sample (in the thumbnail) are absolutely beautiful.
I love a good waffle! I totally forgive the slight yarn hungry nature of it 😆🧇
@@HookedbyRobin *Gotta pay to play!!* LOL!
@@linedanzer4302 😂😂😂
Can’t wait to try this stitch! You are so clear and easy to understand!
@@Starryeyes65it's definitely easy and fun! She's a great teacher
Thanks you make it so easy to follow. Keep it up.
You’re welcome!😃
What a cute pastel color combo you picked, so perfect for the waffle crochet.
Tysm for this awesome tutorial! My brother has been bothering me for the past few weeks, saying that I should make waffles. Can't wait to see his face when he discovers the waffle I just crocheted him!! 😂
😂😂 brilliant!
I have never do crochet because I’d never know in which stiches I have to go ! Your explanations are very clear, the rythme is not too fast and your creations are beautifuls ! I specifically love your colors ! You are very talented and Big thanks to you for sharing your knowledge ! You are a treasure !
Awwh, this was so lovely to read. Thank you so much! 🥰🤗
You welcome ! Excuse my english !😊
I watched your video twice then grabbed my hook and yarn and got started. After doing the two row repeat twice it was ingrained in my brain. Have seen the waffle stitch before and it was with FPDC and BPDC. That was too much for my old brain. Love this and your tutorials are so wonderful!!! Thank you so much!
I watched about 7 tutorials before I found this one that finally helped me understand the waffle stitch! Thank you!
Awwh, you’re so welcome Angela. I’m just glad it helps.😃🤗
This was my second tutorial for the waffle stitch and yours was so much easier, I got it! I’m going to make a wash cloth first and tackle a blanket to use up a large stash of different yarns! Thank you ❤❤❤❤
Great idea Tracy, it works so well for both blankets and wash cloths. I hope you enjoy making them!😃
I totally agree I watched several hers is better!
Thank you for this great tutorial. I have loved this stitch ever since I saw it on an afghan made for a lady at our nursing home. I finally figured it out and was able to copy it. So thank you for your easy instructions and beautiful work. I'm going to try your version. Wish I had found this about 20 years ago. 😂
😂😂😂
Wonderful teaching
Thank you so much!😃🧶
Just want to say that I started a throw for my son with this stitch. Absolutely beautiful & easy. So happy I found your channel.
Thank you Karen and lovely to have you here!😃🥰
You taught me how to crochet when I have been frustrated for ages with it, not being able to do it. Now I’m learning all my stitches from you. I’m so thankful for your videos and your wonderful explanations. Thank you!
You’re so welcome, you’ve got this!😃🧶
Thank You so much, Robin!! I didn't think I could ever crochet this stitch, but thanks to how you teach it, I finally got it!!! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!
Yay! Well done Judi, that's great! 🤗😀
I just love the colors on the small demo you did. Reminds me of a beautiful sunset.
i am new to crochet, but managed to pick it up pretty easily thanks to simple to follow along videos like this one. i am excited to give it a go and make something special for some friends of mine who are my chosen family.
Lovely! Thank you so much for watching.🥰
You are such a good teacher,iv understood your pattern first time without having to keep wanting a repeat,,top marks to you, thank you Teresa UK
Yay! Thank you so much Teresa.😃🧶
I imagine that the waffle stitch would work well with pajamas or a cardigan. I love this stitch.
Definitely Joanne!😃 I haven’t used it for those yet though, so can’t give much advice I’m afraid.x
This was the easiest to understand crochet video I've ever seen. I cannot read a pattern to save my life nor can I understand written instructions so this was just brilliant. My daughter wants a rainbow blanket for Christmas and this is the stitch I wanted to do! Thank you
Hi Brianna, you’re definitely not alone there - lots of people can’t read patterns etc and I find videos definitely easier to follow. A rainbow blanket sounds perfect for this stitch and it will be so cosy.😃🤗
I was trying to make sure I was still doing this stitch right after I learned from you but couldn’t find your video and everyone else did it so weird and my poor little brain got so confused but I found you again and thank the heavens for that
I finally learned how to do the waffle stitch with you. I am so happy beyond measure. I make blankets for babies in need. Will be making more of these. Thank you again.
That is a wonderful cause.🤗 I’m really pleased it helped.x
What is the name of this organization? I would like to do the same
Omgosh I never could follow a waffle stitch you make it look easy. Thank you so much
Thank you again Robin for another excellent video. You are slow and consice in all your videos and that is why they are so easy to follow. I am fairly certain that if you posted a video on how to build the Space Shuttle I would watch it and sure enough I would build that shuttle! Not sure if NASA would concur....
😅 Thank you so much Kathryn, I love this comment!x
Thank you for your clear instructions Robin. I'll keep this stitch in mind for future reference.
What a fun stitch! Super easy to follow along with you. I have plans to incorporate as many of my partial skeins as I can with this stitch for a nice little throw. 💞
I absolutely love the squishies!! 💖 Thank you Robin!!
Thank you! This is a great stitch. Using it with cotton thread for dish cloths. Great piece to practice on.
I absolutely love this stitch! I absolutely love your tutorials. You are one of my fave crochet instructors. Your instructions are so concise and clear and there's never any problem and I have been able to learn some techniques that I never knew and I've crocheted for over 40 years but thanks to Internet, CZcams and wonderful crochet instructors as yourself, it's been so much fun and a real pleasure. Thank you Robin for sharing your God given talents and God bless you so much. Here's a big SHOUT OUT!
Thank you Robin lovely texture I did this stitch years ago but have forgotten so I was delighted to see you had this tutorial. Lovely a great teacher so clear.. 💛💚💜
The waffle pattern is such a beautiful pattern thankyou for sharing 😊😊❤❤❤
You're welcome Tracey, I am glad you like it.😀
You by far are my favorite teacher. You explain it so well, and you make it seem so easy. Thank you so much.
Awwh, what a kind comment. Thank you so much!🥰🧶
Very pretty stitch! I agree, very simple! Thanks Robin!
Thank you so much Sally! 🥰
I love how you explain things. Super easy to understand, thank you! I'm so excited to learn more stitches now that I know I definitely can 😁
Great instructional video!
Thank you so much Angela!😃🥰
Best explanation I've seen thanks
Thank you so much!🥰🤗
Out of all the videos I have watch on waffle stitch yours helped me mastered this! Thank you so much!
You’re so welcome, I am pleased it helps.😃🧶
Waffle stitch is def my fave! The way I learned it is slightly different with the amount of turning chains so I’ll have to try yours!
It all depends on your tension really! You may find the amount of turning chains you currently do works best 😀
Doing a blanket now using this stitch and I love the texture. Thank you for this tutorial
Sounds great Estelle, enjoy making your blanket.😃🧶
Lovely waffle stitch , thank you Robin 🧇
You explained it very well
Thank you
You’re so welcome!😃
thank you Robin, for this amazing stitch 💘🤧
These steps are very nicely done as to being able to follow along it’s flying by, that I have to pause each step. Granted I’ve been crocheting for at least 30 years and when reading the patterns I follow ok but your videos help me to understand it more. So thanks for creating these videos. I’ve noticed you don’t post anything anymore. But thanks anyway for the ones you’ve posted.😿
I'm only taking a short break from videos whilst I move house 😀 I'll be back! X
When I see a new stitch that I haven’t learned I always try to make the stitch myself before watching the how to video. I couldn’t figure this one out to save me😂😂. After you showed me tho it is so simple that I think I may be dumb. Thanks for another wonderful tutorial, I literally couldn’t do it without you
You aren't dumb at all! To look at, it's really hard to decipher how it's done!
Per usual Robyn is the absolute best at explaining! Watched and followed along a couple rimes and now working on a waffle blanket for mu husband!
Awwh, thank you so much Danielle and enjoy making your blanket.😀🧶
Beautiful. That yarn is gorgeous. And your videos are absolute perfection. ❤️
🥰
Ima going to try this stitch as soon as I move to my new place❤🤔😊 it's so pretty already picked out colors in my head hobby lobby here I come❤

This stitch is so fast and fun to do. Your clear instructions made it so easy, and the texture is amazing. I whipped out a bunch of dishcloths from cotton yarn in a jiffy. Thank you!

Hallo, and a verry warm thank you for your tutorials. Because of the fact i am legally blind its often verry difficultto follow along tutorials. I cannot wait to sit down and watch this video. This morning I watched probably three videos on the waffle stitch and failed it all three. I can't wait to try your method. ( Update to follow)
Fingers crossed!! 🤞 Do let me know how you get on! X
How did it go? Did you finally get the hang of it?
@@HookedbyRobin sorry I replied to myself when I meant to reply to you. Great video. I think I will get it with practice. 😉need to work on my tension (I always need work on tension), but not so bad.
