We all know by now that the Mercedes-AMG ONE is effectively a Formula 1 car for the road, right? Well, guess what… Mat has had a chance to get hands-on with one!
That’s right, he’s flown out to the Nurburgring GP circuit and he’s about to put the AMG ONE through its paces to see just what the hype is all about!
First off, let’s remind you about performance It comes with the same power unit as you’ll find in a 2015 F1 car, a 1.6-litre V6 turbo petrol which is also joined by two electric motors on the front axel! Combined, they deliver 1,063hp and hit 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds. What’s more, it can also hit 200km/h in just 7 seconds!!
However, it’s not all hardcore performance though! Not only can the AMG ONE run on EV power alone for 11 miles, but it also comes with swathes of Alcantara throughout the interior, along with air conditioning and the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice recognition tech!
The question is, with only 275 cars set to be made, is it really worth the eye-watering £2,000,000 price tag? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

I think the problem is with formula 1 engines required to have pre heated oil in them. Maybe it was a fail safe because the oil got too cold and we all know how metal reacts to heat. Maybe they should implement a system if you have too much energy it goes to the oil heaters

Ya they were super nice I have to say. And he was able to test it a lot. Sometimes it's just a few laps as a driver, a few laps as a passenger. And it's done. Looking at you ASTON Valkyrie AMR Pro tests...
A good thing! They can run their diagnostic programs and maybe iron out the kinks for the future.
I agree with you guys, I'm totally happy AMG let us see the raw side of preproduction. This is the whole point of getting it out there on the track and just letting it rip, to work all the kinks out so the customer can have an amazing experience with their purchase. No matter if it's a $20,000 car or $2 million.
The fact that matt used the word "broken" so many times while the technician kept that smile on his face its simply amazing, too much customer service and calm from him i just loved it... he was so calm @carwow Im glad to hit the like & subscribe botm this time

This is a test car and they are testing stuff on it. That's why it has some problems. Customer cars will not have these problems.

"Can you imagne the maintenance" As if someone who is able to afford this car wouldn't be able to ensure it was maintenanced properly, it's not a shitbox owned by a 17 year old that's just passed their test. Drivers learning curve? You understand that when this goes into production these aren't going to be used for trips to the shops etc, correct? Chances are most of them are going to sit unused in billionaires' garages anyway. It's a production car with an F1 engine and it would be treated as such.

F1 inspired car that heavy and 4wd... not sure what demographic thats targetting, it just doesn't make much sense.
This was the best video I have ever seen on this channel and one of the best car videos ever on CZcams. Mat was hilarious, Mercedes was super cool about all of this being aired and wasnt hiding anything, all around massive respect for Mat, the team of Carwow and Mercedes. That car is epic.

I love the fact that AMG let you drive it already, despite not being completely perfect. I know this in Germany can have serious consequences for the people involved, but it's a petrol head project with people with love for this cars. Maybe it should not be to perfect, or at least, not in this fase. The fact that they wanted to share it with you in this stage is awesome. When they get fired they can always do an application at Ferrari or another Italian brand ;-)

Interesting concept, obviously with some bugs (imagine being on full send and the engine cuts out) - would like to see a comparison with other supercars (hypercars?) in the same price range. Mat!! Thrashing the development (pre production) car pushing it to the limits, discover faults then report and discuss with the engineers, engineers then perform input modifications accordingly makes you automatically a development driver for the Project One. It's a fact!! There you go

I love how it’s “not the quickest” when in full EV mode at the end, yet it’s still over 300 hp. Just by comparison to the over 1000 he was just using, it felt slow.

All you need to know about this car is that literally everyone involved with the engine hated working on it, since taming that 2015 engine was an absolute pain in the ass.
The CEO of Mercedes Benz even said it was a mistake and he was nuts agreeing on that.
And it would have been way easier to build a complete new engine.

I really do think that 2.3 mil cost of the car about 750k of that is the MGU-H because i’ve heard it’s very expensive which is why they’re trying to phase it out of Formula 1 for the series to be cheaper...

The fact that it’s heavy is a complete fail. The AM Valkyrie has a massive V12 that sounds glorious, and weighs about 700kgs less. Guess which car is worth the money? Hint: it’s the British one.

Because who cares about f1 engine? It has only 1000hp. It’s not impressive anymore. Fucking hummer ev has this power. What’s impressive is power to weight ratio. That’s what makes f1 so fast. And Valkyrie is just that. Actual f1 car on the roads without that stupid marketing like “wooow f1 engine so coooolll”
@@stubones Nobody tracks a hyper car regularly, they gonna spend 99,9% of their lifetime in some ultra rich dudes garage. It's all about the story behind the car and the AMG One is such a unique car. Great V12s have been done countless times before, great sounding engines have been done countless times before, fast cars have been done countless times before but there is only a single hypercar with an F1 derived 1.6 V6 engine and realistically there will never be another one. Don't get me wrong the Valkyrie is a great car but there will be cars with even better performance in the future which will push the Valkyrie into the backlog of all the other cars that once were the latest and greatest but the AMG One will always stand out.

@@stubones It´s all down to AM not having to follow the newest EU emission rules while mercedes has to. The AMG One needs an OPF, which completely fucked the engine up which then lead to them needing more electric power, bigger battery etc.
The AMG sadly isn´t close to what it was supposed to be because of that. Since Aston Martin is a small manufacturer unlike Mercedes they have much easier emission rules, which is the biggest advantage for them. So the cars just can´t be compared, because they follow completely different rulesets. The Aston is in a whole other league

This might be the Mercedes SLR McLaren of our times. Overlooked and overshadowed by other supercars of its day. Not the greatest on paper. But a masterpiece nonetheless
But it's not just the paper , people driving it say it's too slow . Remember they have been developing it for so long . The same thing happened with the LFA but the redeeming quality was the sound whereas this sounds like shit

For people saying this didn't meet expectations and many cars are out there giving performance, lets not forget this has got a Formula 1 engine from the most successful constructor. That engine and the experience it would give would alone give a better experience than other cars. The complexity of this project and the technicalities.... gotta appreciate this marvel!
