I bet all their friends look at them with their 630k home, 100k income, 2 jeeps, 2 kids, 5 dogs and are so jealous, if they only knew the truth.
đźđźđźđź
Exactly. They appear wealthy while they are drowning in reality. Itâs too common in America today. A lot of these people act wealthy when financially intelligent people know the truth
Returning groceries. Wow. All time low. I'll never understand why people like this. Tea
A lot of people living like this
Most Americans. Sadly.
I get the impression there is a sign somewhere in their home that says, "live, laugh, love"
Or "Live like there's no tomorrow." Lol!
And a pillow/sign that says Home đ
Guarantee it.
They lost me at 5 dogs smh
Absolutely ridiculous. Jeez. đ
Same here. They have sixty grand in CC debt and they have five dogs. Adios.
I have one dog, and no debt, and the cost of keeping my one dog gives me pause. A dog is a luxury. Five dogs is an extraordinary luxury. If you are broke, you cannot afford extraordinary luxuries.
She said that her Mom gives them $200/ month when she can but they have 10K in the bank, live in a 600K house, and have 2 Jeeps, and 5 dogs. There is Something is broken in their spirit. This is not the American dream but a nightmare.
This is the lifestyle many seem to want.
This is proof that just because someone has a teacher's degree, they can still be stupid. It's not rocket science. Adjust your spending and lifestyle, as in yesterday. Living on credit, and especially falling behind to the point where you get into a credit card "program" that tells you to NOT pay any of them and let it "trash your credit score"? I seriously hope neither of these people teach economics.
People living way above their means
Sad But true.some people wants to look rich.
Yep. These people are living way above their means.
Iâve done it before. I thought I could dig myself out of debt in two years. It took five (two of which were the inflation years of 2021-23). Longest years of my life.
Way way above
Talking about her Jeep, she said she bought it for $45K and she's "had it for a long time" and only owes $17K. That's very telling. She's had the car for less than 4 years. If you think having a vehicle for a long time is 3 or 4 years, you're doomed to waste money on cars forever.
Iâve had my 2008 Highlander since July 2011. I love it. Itâs paid off and Iâm hesitant to get a replacement. (Not that I need one now, but eventually itâll happen.)
I agree Brian, itâs ridiculous how much money POOR people WASTE on cars. I mean, if youâre a millionaire then sure, get a nice carâŠ
However, if youâre living paycheck to paycheck, then financing a brand new car⊠well, thatâs a financial SUICIDE.
We just literally joined the 2 comma club yesterday. We have 3 paid off cars. A 2005, a 2008, and a 2015. All were used. In fact we just replaced the side mirrors on the 2005 this morning bc they broke. It's our emergency car at this point. I agree. She doesn't know what she's doing if she thinks having a new car for 4 years is a long time. What is wrong with people?
â@BlueDauntless That's a Toyota though, no Jeep is going to be running 16 years later. They will still owe money on these Jeeps when they are in the scrapyard.
Agree! Keep the car till the wheels fall off (literally), that the only reason to buy a car rather itâs new or used..
âAnd now our credit is gone so we canât get anything â the getting things with credit was what put you in this mess
Listening to calls like this makes me so happy I'm completely debt free. I don't owe anyone any money. Everything i own is mine, free and clear. The only thing i still have to pay consistently is the property taxes.

Same goes for me. Totally debt free and very happy with what I have!

Fellow Las Vegas resident here. She can rent a house for $2000 EASY - but itâs not going to be in the affluent area sheâs used to. Pay off the debts with equity, and maybe even downgrade those fancy Jeeps. Get a $2000 rental. And go back to work. Thatâs what needs to be done. She doesnât want to give up the lifestyle and what it looks like to others. Stop thinking about your presentation and image and start looking at the numbers!
Yup. Over 500 properties for rent currently under $2k/mo. on my search.
From what I see on my real estate app and a friend of mine living there once you cross $2300/mo. the homes to rent and areas look very nice but many homes are too big for what they have(2kids). All they need is a 2bed/2bath with a laundry and get rid of the dogs.
Pretty sure I know where that might be as well, I mean there's several areas it could be, if you fly in or out of Vegas for any reason and drive around the airport you can see the areas.
â@@blackworldtraveler3711but you also have to filter out the landlords who won't rent to people with pets. That cuts it by about half, probably. Plus they'll require extra for pet deposits, that'll be another excuse why they can't do it.

Dogs are expensive if properly taken care of !! Between food and vet care. Buying two Jeeps !! One is a money pit. Hard to feel sorry for people like them !!!
Definitely. We have one. And itâs tempting to get more, but we realistically cannot afford another dog.
We also have senior cats. And theyâre aging and need care and meds we didnât really plan for. (We got them within a year or two of each other. Theyâre our first pets as adults and clearly didnât think about what their needs would be as they age.)
Yeah, I have 1 cat myself. I've thought about getting another kitty, but decided to get into a better financial situation. My situation is pretty good, but before I get another one, I want to be even better off. I want to make sure that my house is paid off before adding a new kitty to my home. Pets can be very expensive. Food, litter, vet, etc. And that doesn't even take into account if an unexpected medical situation comes up all of a sudden. We have to love our pets enough to make sure that we can take care of them. If one of their dogs gets really sick, how are they going to pay for it when they are already drowning? The poor dog may die because they can't afford the vet visit or the medication that the dog would need to be able to save its life.
Exactly! I know too many people who think some cheap dog or cat food is all it takes to have pets. People forget or ignore vet costs. Our 14-year-old cat cost us about $3000 in a 5-week period this past spring. We can afford it, so it was fine, and he's doing pretty well now. But our 2 cats both have health conditions that require prescription diets and regular vet visits and meds. It's expensive! Too many folks forget that pet ownership includes getting them the medical care they need. It's a money suck, but necessary, so you have to be able to pay for it.
I donât own a dog but ask neighbors about theirs.
Vet bills and food are whipping many now âŠ..well most could not really afford them to begin with if they had done the math.
Only people I see with no issue having a dog are retired and handful of others who have money and know math.

I just KNOW her insurance is $400+
Thereâs no way itâs not someone elseâs car payment.
This is so messed up! They have bigger problems.
Truly babies having babies, too! They have two kids and five dogs dependent on them, and they can't even afford to eat. Not a whole lot of hope for these two, unless they start acting like adults. Her tone in the call is acting like this all just happened to them, and they had to do what they had to do to survive.
Food for thought. These are the people teaching your children. Math must be tough
Scary. I have rented to a few teachers. Typically they are average to below IQ.
5 dogs? That's ruff
LOL
How did they even get approved for a home like that on that salary? WTF- Everyone is harping on the 5 dogs but they cant feed the 2 kids they have. Lady, you never should have been a SAHM- she could have been working after her husband came home from his job!!!!!!! WTF As a huge dog lover I would say rehome the dogs- hell the dogs probaly want out also.
How did they ever think they could pay an almost $700k mortgage on a $90k salary? A $900 a month car payment? These two have been living the keeping up with the Jones' lifestyle and it bit them in the ass.
These are the type of people i look at everyday at traffic stops and say "wow I bet they are in a ton of debt". Turns out they are. I drive a used car I paid in cash. No kids, no mortgage, no credit card debt. Life is good.
Her mother is giving them $200 a month for food and they're spending food every month for 5 dogs. BUT they have $10,000 in their savings? What? They need to sell their home and move into something. They can afford for their family. Unfortunately they put themselves in this situation overspending like crazy.
Stop buying everything in sight
it's a Jeep thing
My husband and I make 4x this amount but when made 100,000 a yr 10 yrs ago never did half these things. We now in amazing position financially and able do a lot dinners out, events all the time. We also only have one dog and cat due boarding cost, vet bills and food expensive for animals.
This call is the perfect example of how it doesn't matter how much you make when you are living like congress.
Why did you think you could spend, spend, spend? Day of reckoning! If you arenât working, sell 1 Jeep. Sell the house, or rent out some rooms in the house. From now on, buy used, live frugally.
My girlfriend and I are dink hybrids.
We may not want kids but certainly would be our priorities over dogs, new cars, and debt if I had them.
Yep re-home the 5 dogs, sell house and cars clearing their debt. $1800-2k /mo apt. and bring back the hoopty will solve this. They wonât believe how fast they can save up money after that.
That goes against their image lol. Even though that image is fake, they are living the âAmerican dreamâ.
Some people think a loan is the answer to every problem
This is insanity đł
I have four kids, four dogs, worked nights, 60 hours a week to get out of debt. Itâs possible. She just needs to suffer it out. Also my youngest was just a baby. Didnât pay for childcare bc my husband and I worked opposite. Itâs possible.
Yeah, but you had the intention and motivation to do it. This lady is just clueless. I doubt that she will do anything that the Ramsey's told her to do. She admitted that she is drowning, but is she drowning enough to fix her life? This call didn't sound too convincing that she would.
You should listen to the caller again.
Exactly. SAHMs can still bring in some money. Work weekends or evenings when your husband is home or tutor/work from home part time or something while your little ones nap or have quiet time. Or if youâre near family sometimes they might be able to help out if youâre only working part time! Thereâs so many ways to avoid daycare and still clear debt. Also, drive old used cars you donât both need a $45k Jeep. A lot of people are kind of clueless and think itâs normal to live so far above your means. Having a sahp means that parent still needs to bring in at least some income even if they just work a little or you need to really adjust your lifestyle.
I hope they don't teach math. I wish Dave had taken this call.
Seems like another classic case of living above your means catching up with you.
Im a little confuse about interest rates thing going up on her home while buying it. They should have ask her about that. When I got my mortage once I was approved, the interest rate for that day was locked in for me so if it went up it wouldnt matter. Long as I didn't lie about my income or they caught some red flag while approving me I was locked in with that rate.
Yeah that story is a little fishy to me also.
Yeah, they are full of so many excuses. It's possible that their interest rate lock in expired before they closed on their house, so they had to pay more. But, it would have probably only been a quarter of a percent. Not nearly enough to cause this situation.
I think she was lying
I am surprised they qualified for a 630k mortgage on their salary. I make a little over a 100k and only qualified for a 325k mortgage and purchased a townhome for less than what I qualified for.
Debt consolidation is a scam, I think they need to sell that car that is worth 15k and also take 5k out of their savings and use that money to pay down the credit card, which can save them some money to buy food.
I agree about the selling the house and getting something else to dig themselves out of the debts they are in. Giving some of the dogs to someone else is also a good idea as it must be costly to feed five dogs.
I think they put down a huge down payment (maybe from mom) which is why she claims to have 150K equity in the home. If the home was purchased for 615 and able to be sold for 630, then 15K is the true equity.
Not just feed them, but think of the vet bills. đ±
These guys are the poster children for living beyond their means.
No one ever educated these educators about trying to keep up with the Jonses. So now they live in a 600k house they canât afford, with 2 little kids and 5 dogs and 2 cars they canât afford. How to fix it? Simple. Quit making bad choices. Find more income. Get on a budget. Quit relying on mom to save them and pay her back. Because as much as she was trying to help, she has only enabled them to continue to dig themselves into a deeper mess.
Amazing, teachers cannot figure out to stop spending money!
