      My 40yr old horse got excited about the grass the first spring day I took him out for a ride. He threw me over his head. Lol. (I was a kid back then. Not heavy, so don't worry.)

      Well, if they're fit and healthy they wont stop..
      Its why my 29yr old got put down, messing about in the field, didnt hit the breaks in time and hit the ground like bambi on ice, still tried to run because the vet brought out a clipper🙄

    My three were doing their zoomies today when a sudden cool breeze kicked up out of nowhere. They're all senios, too (youngest is 23).

    They're just being horses lol. They're kicking up, getting crazy, having fun. They're just like a bunch of kids. If one starts going, it gasses the others up to follow lol.

      Right?! It's all because we took one horse out then it all went to zoomies. They are trying to stay close to the gate so they can come in, but we will not catch them until them calm down. They are usually very chill. The weather had a lot to do with it.

      It's a combination of the weather and that one of the horses was brought in - so they're fussing because they want to go in, too. Might call it a power sulk, fueled by cooler weather.

    Looks like the herd got hit with the zoomies!
    With my small herd, it was always Buddy, a mini horse/shetland cross, that would set everyone off.
    This tiny horse would manage to set off four large horses.

      We have had 2 horses that if there is a front coming through we do not ride them. They are just too on edge at that time.

    You have to think that in the wild when they sensed this electrical activity, they would move out to find safe refuge so their instinct is to move and they have nowhere to go so they just run in circles.

    Your horse Jack, the Sorrel with the white blaze & 4 partial white stockings, looks a lot like a horse I once had. Mine was named Monroe and had 4 solid white stockings and a black mane & tail. He was an Arabian Quarter Horse. Beautiful horses, all 😻🥰‼️

    So fun to watch horses enjoying being horses. Some great moves from a bunch of older horses, I especially liked the sorrel's perfect bronco body position that turned into an all four feet 10" hop straight up. That move is actually harder to sit than a hind end buck! (from experience unfortunately!)

    My girl does this when the tractor is run.
    She is not afraid of it and will absolutely block the path if she thinks thwre might be somwthing in it for her.
    But she loves an excuse to zoom.
    23 and going strong!

    I think every living creature gets this burst of zoomies when the seasons change and the conditions are right. Not too hot, too cold, or humid, or dry. I never feel more alive.

    Honestly, they’re a bit tame. You can tell they’re full of beans over the weather, but it just isn’t a party until someone throws a Percheron through the fence or a geriatric thoroughbred does a cartwheel 😅🫣

    My 27yo TB gelding feels the need to do “hot laps” on a regular basis. Most of the rest of them (younger I might add) just look at him with bored expressions and go back to grazing. 😂

      No, they are all fine. They are all pretty athletic. They are lesson and show horses, so they get plenty of exercise, but I do worry about them slipping if it's muddy.

    I mean they do this in the wild, run, run, and run... it's NOT crazy behavior. It's CRAZY for the Horses to be "well behaved" and act like beautiful lawn statues in an enclosure made by humans. So, I feel bad for them.

    Maybe they sense a dangerous storm. Animals are very in tune to such things, moreso than mere humans. Maybe theyre practicing their Olympic Synchronized Zoomies?!?!? 🥰

      I can explain. That is the gate they will be brought through to eat, however we will not bring them in until they simmer down and act properly.

    A little barometric pressure weirdness...any idea why they all basically stayed in that one corner/side? Is it just because that's where the gate is? Horses always know where the gate is, don't they? Home or away, arena they've never been in before, they can always find the gate, lol.

    They're just having fun and playing together as a herd. It's healthy. You figure, in the wild, they would have miles and miles to run and rough-house like this. You have a lovely paddock. I'm sure they enjoy the chance it gives them to run amok for a while.

    There is nothing about these horses behavior indicating pissiness or temper tantrums. Horses run around, they do it to warm up (I suspect in this case though I don't know the temps), to play, for fun, for fitness, for herd dynamics. So frustrating to see people spread untrue, uneducated, ignorant, derogatory characteristics about animals. Lovely horses having a little stretch of the legs and perhaps little bit of a warm up with play.
