This is a great video for comparing the Line 6 multi-effects product line Well done. There is more information and less noodling than most of the other videos out there. I am at the point where I need to retire my beloved Digitech GNX4 and the Helix LT and POD Go are the two on my radar. Our band plays clean ethereal sections as well as heavy distortion fuzz tones so switching 3 stomp boxes at the same time is a real challenge. Thanks Leo!
I bought a helix lite only because a buddy was selling it cheap. I love it. Used it for a gig and went straight into the desk; I used my engl as my own monitor. Brutal, and the cleans were beautiful.

Hi Leo, thank you for your reviews, You’ve obviously got a lot of time invested, hopefully you’re well compensated. Just a thought or a heads up to all regarding 7:00 min mark, milliamp draw and voltage. I’ve been wiring up some pedalboards, with analog and digital pedals, And aside from the problems that arise in FX’s “getting along with each other” i’ve been finding that contrary to what a digital pedal actually draws, which often rises during initial turn on and in rush, and fluctuates due to lights going on and off and processor use etc. that just because something says it’s only pulling 200 mA, (I think general consensus used to be to add 30% for headroom) A lot of these things act up unless they have a good degree more of headroom. I bow to the engineers, these are just my findings, 100 or even 50 mA should be plenty for run-of-the-mill TS9’s or SD1’s, or vintage MXR With no light may pull 5mA (pretty battery friendly) but I would not try running a 200 mA draw off of a 300 mA supply, I would go the full 500. I would of course recommend running the pedals you are talking about here with their factory supplies, But barring that, I would easily give a 1200 mA draw a 2 amp supply, min. Three would be better. These are just my very humble findings, if somebody hooked up a generator to a bicycle and has their chubby little brother working off pounds as he powers their rig....... more power to them! It took me 6 months to get my sound on my LT. I'm pretty close to my lovely and regretted Carvin XB50 that I had to sell when I was broke. I like this unit and the lack of possibility of changing mike position is irrelevant for me thanks to the IR's... Talking about Ir's, it seems to me (may this is just psychological) that the 2048 points delivers a more precise sound than the 1024... After that, I can only say that an expression pedal is quite necessary to get the full juice of this kind of environnement. Main use for me : the control of the drive on the amp modeling. Apart from those points, nothing to say ! Thanks Leo for your work...
Podgo seems to be the sweet spot for me as well. I’m not good or creative enough to make use of the crazy dsp of the bigger units and I want something for gigging and practice.
Purchased the POD Go, sell it after 1 year used because i want to use pedalboard with HX Stomp as its brain. Used it around 8 months, sell the entire pedalboards for Helix LT. That's one of the best choice of my life
I thought the Helix LT was going to do it for me. Then I got one and realized I needed the extras the Helix Floor offered after a short period of time. So Now I have both :p At the entry point the POD GO is a very attractive proposition. If you can use snap hots the Helix Stomp is a great addition to a peddle board.They make it nearly as powerful as it's bigger brethren. I don't think you can go wrong with a POD GO. The POD line is time tested.
Personally it's the Go for me. A bit less complicated than the others and I don't need a thousand presets. It would be great if they could update the units to accept mic positions. Some of the best recorded tones I have gotten is actually with the mic positioned at the top of the speaker and a bit to either left or right, moving it away from negative floor reflections.
To all the people wanting to buy a Pod Go: For it's price and regarding the sound, it's a great unit. You can't go wrong. The limitations are real, but they don't hold you back from getting a great sound as far as you invest in 3rd party IR's. Once you understand how to get the tone you like you will be happy. Rock on!
I have the Pod Go but the sound quality is not the same as the others due to the firmware. Pod Go is firmware 2.1 and all the other units are 3.1. So to say they all sound the same is misleading. I am hearing that the oversampling (apparently something that makes the sound quality better), is not going to translate down to the Pod Go due to limitations of the processing power. If I were to buy a unit again and budget was my main concern, I would go for the HX Stomp as the bare minimum option. If I had to buy again, I think it is worth saving and waiting for the LT version though. At least in my use case. I play at home in my studio most of the time.

Leo, your videos are really helpful, thanks. I would go for the pod go, more versatile for me. I would like to listen the multieffects recorded directly to the computer to see their interfaces capabilities. Thanks a lot again.
I mostly record at home so a low watt amp and pedals is the way to go for me. I don't like menues and complicated settings. For gigging I would choose the pod go. Small light and enough switches to make it easy to gig with.
Great video as usual. The POD Go is my choice based on price, features and how I would use it live. I wonder what your opinion is comparing the POD Go against the far less expensive NUX MG 300? The NUX MG 300 just seems like a great value for the stellar tones, IR loading ability and $150 price point. It's as cheap as a single standalone pedal and almost impulse buy cheap. Greetings from Nova Scotia Canada Leo I’m a long time subscriber and I’m actually going back and rewatching some of your older videos I’ve been using digital modellers since October 2020 I got the L6 HX Stomp and fell in love with it although it’s limited since the 3.0 update with 8 blocks it’s been better but about a month ago I had the opportunity to trade it along with some cash for a L6 Helix LT and I have never been happier the extra $ I paid was about what a good MIDI controller would have cost me and it’s all in one unit so no cables and the extra DSP has allowed me to stop using any extra pedals unless I want to but for example my favourite blues preset in the Stomp didn’t have enough blocks and DSP to have a Wah effect so I had to use my old CryBaby where as now After rearranging my preset I have a Wah block that’s 100% controlled by the built in expression pedal and because I have a mission engineering L6 expression pedal as well I use it to control the speed of my UniVibe block that’s built into that same preset I’ve also been able to do far more with presets that use dual amplifier blocks without any outboard effects needed…. I have no regrets about the trade but I also don’t regret starting out with the Stomp and upgrading…. Truth be told had I waited for a couple of months I would have gotten the HX Stomp XL and been perfectly happy with it never knowing how much of a difference that extra DSP would make ….. my situation is a little bit different than the average person and size / weight is of importance to me because of limitations due to a spinal injury….. I would love to see you do some videos around FRFR speakers like the L6 PowerCab and PC+ and the Headrush FRFR and mission engineering Gemini etc. I have the Powercab 112 and I love it although it’s out for repair atm the rear controller PCB had some sort of issue causing it to jump around the speaker simulation modes on its own however I haven’t been able to find anything online about anyone else having that problem and after talking about it with the tech from Long and Mcquade they haven’t seen it before either so I’m hoping that it’s a fluke also it was bought at a discount because it was an in store demo mode…. So time will tell once I get it back but for over a year I had absolutely no problems with it and it sounds great especially the BAYOU setting while using my favourite IR’s in whatever Helix preset that I’m using at the time so it’s not an either/Or situation but rather using them together and creating a unique tone that’s not exactly what everyone else is using

This is the best comparison video I've seen so far and, yet, I'm still undecided. Your comparison breakdown was very informative in comparison to the plug and play with the same tones on each machine (though that's appreciated in its own way). I'm looking at 4-year/no-interest financing for an overall $10/month for the Go or $25/month for the LT. Having said that, the LT is still quite a bit of coin for an intermediate-level hobbyist who has only played through an early-2000s Pod XT and original Roland Micro Cube amp. The XT has proven indestructible physically, but the electronics are now starting to get glitchy and the tone quality is suffering. I hope both the Go and the LT have the longevity I've experienced with the XT.
I recently borrowed my friends helix floor and I was thinking of getting one myself bc I know I can get a lot of use of it but tbh I think the helix lt might be the better option for me especially since it's 2/3 the price lol. But I'm still not sure yet.
The hx stomp is the winner for me. I already have an expression pedal, the stomp is good in the recording studio, and it is great to travel lightweight or to take on the road with a few essential stompboxes. To be honest, I prefer Boss.
The Pod Go is an all in one giggable bargain. For people with a full pedal board that want to add something to it, though, the HX Stomp is ideal. THe main thing that I miss on pod go versus other Helix lineup entries is the midi.

The modellers are very expensive. If id go for an expensive high end device id choose Boss GT-1000, because it became my favourite in general, sound, features, operation, etc. Regarding to this review, i really love Pod Go, cause really has everithing a player needs, and has a killer compromise between price, features, operation with the best tone Line6 can offer! Yes, you can couple the pod go with your amp and I would suggest to use the 4 cable methods, using compressor, drives, etc. before the amp and delay and reverb after. As regard the comparison with the m9, I can not answer, as I've never had an M9. Thank you for your message!
I use {Strat(SSS or HSS)->Mad-Driver(TS-clone)->Scremin'Blue(like BD2)->Tri-Reverb(spring reverb type)->CabDryVR(cab sim)->PA} for years and now I bought POD GO. I cannot get good, pleasant to my ears tone form this unit. The main drawback are spiky highs even if low-cut filter enabled. Sustain is shorter even if gate was disabled. I'm confused what I'm doing wrong.The sound is rustling and fizzy but when I decrease highs it is lacking presence and gets muddy. I do something wrong but I cannot figure out how to use POD GO to get satisfying sound. I tried everything and combinations of different amps and different cabs without success. What can I do else ? I like snapshots idea and the fact I haven't to have dance on many stomp-boxes to change parameters but the sound is more important to me than ergonomic. Cheers! Good video!

My friend suggest me have this Pod Go... Sounds incredible good, but what I want is the paralel capability of the effects, so I'll choose at least Hx Stomp... It doesnt enough chain, but fun fact, I didnt playing reverb, so I will be okay with just 6 slots, and I can put my NR, Wah Wah, and volume at fornt and at the looper.. *I'm playing Zoom G1BFour that less chain than Hx Stomp can offer to me, so it just fine.

Hi Carlos, al these units are pretty good options. I would say that you should go the HX or the Core if you want to couple these units with other effects or with an amp (if you want to know my opinion about which one of these two, you can check out this video: czcams.com/video/MZFsoYLg8sI/video.html For playing live, the POD GO would be the unit to go, as it is the unit with more foot switches. For recording at home, I would go with the Core as you can use many more effects at once that the HX and so you have more creative options. Hope this help. Thank you for your message!

Hi, I think it depends by how much blocks and DSP power are used in the patches. in fact, if I remember it well, the HX has half the power of the Helix, and therefore cannot run all the blocks that the Helix can run. Thank you for your question

Hi, currently I have the POD GO and the LT...the others are owned by friends of mine that borrow them to me when I need it...I'm sorry...Nevertheless I can tell you that the LT and the Floor are really much bigger than the POD GO.
In terms of sounds the are equal, I think it depends on the features you want, for instance if you want to run very complex effect chain, the POD GO could be not enough and you should go with the lt or the core.

If I had to buy again, I think it is worth saving and waiting for the LT version though. At least in my use case. I play at home in my studio most of the time.

I mostly record at home so a low watt amp and pedals is the way to go for me. I don't like menues and complicated settings. For gigging I would choose the pod go. Small light and enough switches to make it easy to gig with.

Great video as usual. The POD Go is my choice based on price, features and how I would use it live. I wonder what your opinion is comparing the POD Go against the far less expensive NUX MG 300? The NUX MG 300 just seems like a great value for the stellar tones, IR loading ability and $150 price point. It's as cheap as a single standalone pedal and almost impulse buy cheap. Hi, the NUX MG 300 is a great unit...the MG 300 sounds in the POD GO form factor would be a great unit! The NUX has just too few footswitches to play it live.

Greetings from Nova Scotia Canada Leo I’m a long time subscriber and I’m actually going back and rewatching some of your older videos I’ve been using digital modellers since October 2020 I got the L6 HX Stomp and fell in love with it although it’s limited since the 3.0 update with 8 blocks it’s been better but about a month ago I had the opportunity to trade it along with some cash for a L6 Helix LT and I have never been happier the extra $ I paid was about what a good MIDI controller would have cost me and it’s all in one unit so no cables and the extra DSP has allowed me to stop using any extra pedals unless I want to but for example my favourite blues preset in the Stomp didn’t have enough blocks and DSP to have a Wah effect so I had to use my old CryBaby where as now After rearranging my preset I have a Wah block that’s 100% controlled by the built in expression pedal and because I have a mission engineering L6 expression pedal as well I use it to control the speed of my UniVibe block that’s built into that same preset I’ve also been able to do far more with presets that use dual amplifier blocks without any outboard effects needed…. I have no regrets about the trade but I also don’t regret starting out with the Stomp and upgrading…. Truth be told had I waited for a couple of months I would have gotten the HX Stomp XL and been perfectly happy with it never knowing how much of a difference that extra DSP would make ….. my situation is a little bit different than the average person and size / weight is of importance to me because of limitations due to a spinal injury….. I would love to see you do some videos around FRFR speakers like the L6 PowerCab and PC+ and the Headrush FRFR and mission engineering Gemini etc. I have the Powercab 112 and I love it although it’s out for repair atm the rear controller PCB had some sort of issue causing it to jump around the speaker simulation modes on its own however I haven’t been able to find anything online about anyone else having that problem and after talking about it with the tech from Long and Mcquade they haven’t seen it before either so I’m hoping that it’s a fluke also it was bought at a discount because it was an in store demo mode…. So time will tell once I get it back but for over a year I had absolutely no problems with it and it sounds great especially the BAYOU setting while using my favourite IR’s in whatever Helix preset that I’m using at the time so it’s not an either/Or situation but rather using them together and creating a unique tone that’s not exactly what everyone else is using

This is the best comparison video I've seen so far and, yet, I'm still undecided. Your comparison breakdown was very informative in comparison to the plug and play with the same tones on each machine (though that's appreciated in its own way).
I'm looking at 4-year/no-interest financing for an overall $10/month for the Go or $25/month for the LT. Having said that, the LT is still quite a bit of coin for an intermediate-level hobbyist who has only played through an early-2000s Pod XT and original Roland Micro Cube amp. The XT has proven indestructible physically, but the electronics are now starting to get glitchy and the tone quality is suffering. I hope both the Go and the LT have the longevity I've experienced with the XT.

The hx stomp is the winner for me. I already have an expression pedal, the stomp is good in the recording studio, and it is great to travel lightweight or to take on the road with a few essential stompboxes. To be honest, I prefer Boss.

The Pod Go is an all in one giggable bargain. For people with a full pedal board that want to add something to it, though, the HX Stomp is ideal. THe main thing that I miss on pod go versus other Helix lineup entries is the midi.

The modellers are very expensive. If id go for an expensive high end device id choose Boss GT-1000, because it became my favourite in general, sound, features, operation, etc.
Regarding to this review, i really love Pod Go, cause really has everithing a player needs, and has a killer compromise between price, features, operation with the best tone Line6 can offer!

Yes, you can couple the pod go with your amp and I would suggest to use the 4 cable methods, using compressor, drives, etc. before the amp and delay and reverb after.
As regard the comparison with the m9, I can not answer, as I've never had an M9.

I use {Strat(SSS or HSS)->Mad-Driver(TS-clone)->Scremin'Blue(like BD2)->Tri-Reverb(spring reverb type)->CabDryVR(cab sim)->PA} for years and now I bought POD GO. I cannot get good, pleasant to my ears tone form this unit. The main drawback are spiky highs even if low-cut filter enabled. Sustain is shorter even if gate was disabled. I'm confused what I'm doing wrong.The sound is rustling and fizzy but when I decrease highs it is lacking presence and gets muddy. I do something wrong but I cannot figure out how to use POD GO to get satisfying sound. I tried everything and combinations of different amps and different cabs without success. What can I do else ? I like snapshots idea and the fact I haven't to have dance on many stomp-boxes to change parameters but the sound is more important to me than ergonomic. Cheers! Good video!

Sounds incredible good, but what I want is the paralel capability of the effects, so I'll choose at least Hx Stomp...
It doesnt enough chain, but fun fact, I didnt playing reverb, so I will be okay with just 6 slots, and I can put my NR, Wah Wah, and volume at fornt and at the looper..
*I'm playing Zoom G1BFour that less chain than Hx Stomp can offer to me, so it just fine.

Well, there is not a single specific answer...it depend from your needs...for instance number of foot-swiches you need, amp profiling etc. In that price range the units are: Boss GT1000 (or GT 1000 core), Line 6 HX Stomp or Helix (maybe second hand), Mooer GE 300 or Headrush Gigboard. Hi Carlos, al these units are pretty good options. I would say that you should go the HX or the Core if you want to couple these units with other effects or with an amp (if you want to know my opinion about which one of these two, you can check out this video: czcams.com/video/MZFsoYLg8sI/video.html
For playing live, the POD GO would be the unit to go, as it is the unit with more foot switches.
For recording at home, I would go with the Core as you can use many more effects at once that the HX and so you have more creative options.

Hi, I think it depends by how much blocks and DSP power are used in the patches. in fact, if I remember it well, the HX has half the power of the Helix, and therefore cannot run all the blocks that the Helix can run.

Hi, currently I have the POD GO and the LT...the others are owned by friends of mine that borrow them to me when I need it...I'm sorry...Nevertheless I can tell you that the LT and the Floor are really much bigger than the POD GO.

In terms of sounds the are equal, I think it depends on the features you want, for instance if you want to run very complex effect chain, the POD GO could be not enough and you should go with the lt or the core.
