I ain't going to lie. That whole portion of the dialogue gave me flash backs of military service. But to be fair, once you have at least two soldiers you are supposed to figure out who is in charge and then come up with some plan of action. Even if that means a five hour long "take 5".

I would watch a whole series of "The Veteran: A Stormtrooper Story". every episode is this guy doing his utmost to stay alive during numerous Empire missions that just don't make sense.
BRILLIANT!!! I'd totally watch every episode! this was refreshing and hilarious, unlike what Disney has done to the franchise.

The shapes of the eyes and mouth on those helmets are great at expressing scowls, sadness, anger, frustration, disbelief. Just a little tilt of the head or silent stillness or different angle of light and shadow - and the face says it all.

I mean, the purpose of stormtrooper armor is to disperse energy. It knocks the guy out and saves his life and lets his buddies keep going without spending precious time administering first aid.
So in reality, their armor is pretty good.
@@ting4758 Seems like the armor didn't really help the "Commander" guy who was blasted apart at the bottom of a crater. It didn't really help the guys fighting the kid with the blue glow stick. And it didn't do much against a blaster shot in the leg (which apparently will still require first aid).
@@pwnmeisterage technically speaking, it does disperse the energy of light to medium blasters but the A280 is a heavy blaster which is why it’s standard among rebels. Also the commander was probably hit by a grenade or artillery because when you see him, he’s half the man he used to be. Then again this is mostly information from the comics which were made after the films so I don’t know if any of this is actually canon.

Nope. That guy would get promoted to Commander for his actions on Bumfukituni III. He would later be one of the few Imperial company commanders to have over 90% of his unit intact at the desolation of the Galactic Empire and go on to a long and successful life.
They hold for a week, before getting bored.

Half way through, I genuinely forgot that it was CGI. Characters in armor are hard to animate and get right, but this does it well! It really feels like there is a human being inside that suit of armor even when you never see any skin whatsoever.
the only thing that kept distracting me from this not being live action was that the armor definitely was made from the action figures. you can tell from how the "mouth" of the armor isnt painted perfectly to the groove in the helmet and the other aspects that should make depth were also painted on. Again though thats because these models were more than likely made from photoprinting the toy and not being hand made models and textures.
@@kennyroberson5726 I noticed that too, but honestly, it came across to me more like a handmade costume. Infact, most of the Storm Trooper figures have the little vertical vents sculpted into the helmet, which this 3D model doesn't have. If it was a photoscanned figure, I'd think they would have redone the material and fixed the mouth section.

I love the fact that you acknowledge the fact the Jedi with Blue sabers are trained mainly for combat, meaning the troopers would say something like this. Looking over the field and judging how dangerous the jedi are by the color of their lightsabers. I could see that happening. Well done!
Also don’t know if it was a reference but the Imperial soldier didn’t do anything until given orders, just like how the British soldiers didn’t do anything in the American revolution and War of 1812 unless told to do so. So when in a battle in 1812 in Louisiana I believe, a commander was shot and killed, he British soldiers just stood there waiting for orders until someone took the commanding officers place, they were just standing getting shot. Don’t know if that was a reference but if so I think it’s really cool and fits

The difference between a old warrior and a brave young warrior... THIS WAS IT! The old warrior knows the game and how not to get killed. The young warrior has no clue and is ready to get out there and prove themselves. This also is the one time the young warrior was spared so he could learn the way of the old warrior because there are no living brave young warriors.

Man- the part where he's just staring at him while he describes how the armor is blaster proof- priceless. With the helmets on you have no ability to show the face which makes it near impossible to have characters communicate through body language like that but- it worked perfectly. The blank look of the storm troopers helmet just naturally lends itself to that "Are you an idiot?" kind of expression- Still- that's not easy to pull off- this is extremely well done- and not just from a technical standpoint. The writing, the way you instantly just know both characters, the way they are able to express emotion even with a helmet covering their face, right down to the voices- it all works seamlessly. And the comedic timing is spot on. Very well done.

I love how the older trooper has accepted the younger one as a burden he has to bare. He saves him from the Jedi and makes a fake story to save his life. And he understands fighting will only make him die, so he doesn't be a hero and manages to survive long enough to know what jedis can do regardless of their apperance

I was thinking more of a tale of comeradery and horrors of war.
Almost all Vietnam war movies are about one of two things if not both.
"Should we really be here" and "how war changes people, and makes evil actions seem justified or normal." I want to see that kind of atmosphere portrayed.
But Disney owns the IP now so I might as well be hoping for world peace.
I love this concept. The grizzled, world-weary veteran having to constantly deal with doe-eyed recruits fresh out of the academy is a pretty solid idea, especially when done through the eyes of stormtroopers.

Fun fact: stormtrooper armor doesn’t deflect blaster bolts, but if hit by a light-medium weapon it just knocks the stormtrooper out so they can be put in a bacta tank later.

@@kamal_jab He's a stormtrooper, not exactly a clones. The majority of stormtroopers during the imperial age were recruits rather than clones
@@CsStoker The majority, meaning this was an exception. One can technically be both stormtrooper and clone.
Funnily enough the armour actually is blaster proof up to a point. That's why the rebel rifles are all that same model. It's one of the widely produced ones that penetrates stormtrooper armour rather than being absorbed by it.
Imagine a survival open world game where your a stormtrooper with your squad and through the story the team gets picked off one by one and then at the end of the story the Death Star blows up and the main character stands there realising his teams deaths were for nothing and then the game ends with you getting executed by rebels the story could also show the darker side of the rebels too

The imperfection of the helmets is absolutely amazing in my opinion, the fact that it was known that the prop ones where somewhat not symmetrical etc and showing the paint for the vents, its all very good!

In France we have something called " Kaamelott " . Its done by a famous french actor (Alexandre Astier) and its little scenes like that but in the point of view of Arthur circle table and everyone around him. This is so fucking funny, if they to do that for Star wars in USA, i'll definitively watch it !

I must have watched this fifty times. Never gets old. Absolutely love how the creators are able to get the incredulous stare coming from an immovable mask just in the proper tilt of the head and comedic timing.

This is the type of Star Wars story telling we all been waiting for. You gave us the much needed realism to the characters. George Lucas would be Jelly AF!!!!!
I don't know why we haven't got a Star Wars series like this for decades. Its such a simple story concept to follow and peer into the lives of soldiers fighting in The Empire, Rebellion, GAR, and most definitely the CIS.

@@nicholasdu4719 but the criminal changed, we now have arguably the best star wars content ever through Disney, last season of clone wars, rogue one, mandalorian, book of Boba and even rebels developed to something really good. And all the series coming up.. Were in the best Era for Star wars ever, can we please just appreciate this? We are getting FOUR SW series this year, FOUR! that's insane and given how good Disney is at making star wars content (except 7,8,9) we should really appreciate this.
