- #Vishnudev has envisioned a #carnaticmusic concert celebrating light through its diverse cultural significance across India. Vishnu begins the concert in raaga supradeepam, followed by Mamava Pattabhirama that commemorates Lord Rama's coronation in #Ayodhya. Ganamurthe embodies the Narakasura vadha hailing Krishna as "NarakAntaka," and Ambike Gowri Kamakshi to honor the Kali puja tradition in Bengal. He then sings an RTP of an Upanishadic verse in Jyotiswaroopini raga that entreats one to be guided towards light. The concert culminates with Bhagyadalakshmi Baramma invoking Goddess Lakshmi into our homes, echoing the #laxmipuja celebration observed across North India during #Diwali.

Fortunate to have heard the live programme. The enchanting lyrics studded with chandliier like swarams and conclusion with a bouquet of ragamalika swarams is a gift for the rasikas, and will linger in the mind.

An excellent concert by Vid. Vishnudev, with equally excellent accompanists. The choices of kruthis and Ragas, were very refreshing and beautiful too! There is a lot to learn from his Manodharma.
However, a humble suggestion to Vid. Vishnudev. Kindly refrain from using Vedic/Upanishadic mantras for RTPs. Though the idea is very unique and may sound beautiful, a Mantra like the one sung here, taken from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, has to be recited in a certain metre, tune and manner to convey the correct meaning of it. Mantras in the Vedas and Upanishads convey different meanings, with different swarasthanas and metres.
Hence, to avoid any misconstrued Artha of the lyrics, it would be better to choose Shlokas from the Itihasas/Puranas as a more prudent choice. As mentioned previously, just a humble suggestion. 🙏🏻
