    HEADS UP: Loads of subtle things can cause problems here. Several times I got weird mesh issues, bizarre problems where it wouldn't follow the curve, and some others. I found it helps to 1) Be conscious of the origin of the starting mesh (just reset the transformations and put at 0,0,0 ideally), 2) Make sure your curve is a NURBS curve 3) Make sure curve has enough spans (Do Curves > Rebuild and add spans if needed) and 4) If you still get unexpected issues, start with something simpler in a different Scene and step through it carefully

    For others, Ian you may mention this in the tutorial, I've no sound. Curve accuracy depends on the density of CVs, so rebuild a very long curve to put more cvs in it. That will fix poly objects breaking which seems to be pretty easy to do.

      Andrew, that's an exceptional point, and I don't mention it in the video; good shout.

    TIPS : if you guys can't find "CurveWarp" on Deform menu, press F4 (this is animation mode) then, you can see it.

    thank you for the tutorial, but im having the issue of the deformation in the mash, when i use the curve wrap with a ball, the ball deform in the circle curve that i create! you know how to fix it?

    Hi Ian,
    I made Mash curve warp and made another Mash network from it, but when I tried to bake the animation, the curve warped object's animation didn't bake. As the curve warp doesn't have any Mash waiter I cannot switch to geometry type or bake it explicitly. Could you tell me what step I am missing please?
    Thanks for your answer in advance.

    Great tutorial but I'm definitely having an issue where the curve warp is messing up the vertices on my chain link mesh. I ended up with an acceptable result but I'm still wondering why this is happening. Does it have something to do with the amount of CVs I use on my curve?

  • @sinceideagames
    @sinceideagames Před 8 lety

    doesnt work... i´ve installed EXT2 with SP1.
    The Problem starts at the curve warp, the mesh i want to warp along curve doesn´t follow the curve accourdingly. The mesh is whey off the curve....
    It seems to work with the Type mesh, ok thats fine... but it doesnt work with all other meshes, like a cube or something else

      Hey, can you upload a scene for me to look at?

    • @sinceideagames
      @sinceideagames Před 8 lety

      i´ve figured out that this works with the MASH network and TYPE. But does not work with normal Meshes like a simple cube. Just try it out and you´ll see.

    • @ianwaters6035
      @ianwaters6035  Před 8 lety

      I did, that's how I made the tutorial... Mac/ PC or Linux? I'll contact Autodesk support...

    • @sinceideagames
      @sinceideagames Před 8 lety

      but you don´t do the Curve Warp with a simple object in the video, you only do it with the MASH Network and the TYPE Object. These two work fine.
      I´m using Windows 8, Maya 2016 Ext2 SP1

    • @ianwaters6035
      @ianwaters6035  Před 8 lety

      Ahhh, CurveWarp is a deformer, it requires polygons to deform, so a simple cube won't work, you have to add divisions to it, so that there are polygons to move...

    I dunno why this software became the best Industry Standard for 3D things. :(
